Abstract

A multi-cavity filter includes a main body and a lid body. The main body includes a bottom portion and a plurality of sidewalls extending from the bottom portion so as to cooperatively define a plurality of cavities each with a top opening. The lid body covers on the cavities of the main body and is snugly mounted on the main body by screws. The lid body defines a plurality of grooves to improve flexibility.

Description

    BACKGROUND
  • 1. Technical Field
  • The present disclosure relates to a multi-cavity filter, and more particularly to a lid structure of the multi-cavity filter.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • A lid structure of a multi-cavity filter is generally designed as a single lid. However, the multi-cavity filter has more than one cavity, and the single lid covers all the cavities. It is difficult to keep snug engagement between the lid portion and each cavity when the lid is relatively large. Therefore, the lid cannot snugly seal with all the cavities, which would influence the work performance of the multi-cavity filter.
  • Therefore, there is room for improvement within the art.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Many aspects of the present exemplary embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present exemplary embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, all the views are schematic, and like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
  • FIG. 1 is a disassembled view of one exemplary embodiment of a multi-cavity filter in accordance with the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a configuration view of one exemplary embodiment of a lid body in accordance with the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a partially enlarged view of III in FIG. 2.
  • FIG. 4 is a configuration view of another exemplary embodiment of the lid body in accordance with the present disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The disclosure is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation in the figures of the accompanying drawings in which like references indicate similar elements. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” exemplary embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same exemplary embodiment, and such references mean at least one.
  • Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, a multi-cavity filter 100 comprises a main body 20 and a lid body 10. The main body 20 comprises a bottom portion 21 and a plurality of sidewalls 22 extending from the bottom portion 21. The bottom portion 21 and the plurality of sidewalls 22 cooperatively define a plurality of cavities 24 each having a top opening 25. Each cavity 24 defines a pair of input/output ports 26 to connect with conductors (not shown) inside the cavity 24 for receiving and sending signals. The lid body 10 covers on the plurality of top openings 25 of the main body 20 and is snugly mounted on the main body 20 by screws 15. The lid body 10 defines a plurality of grooves 14 to improve flexibility. The plurality of grooves 14 divide the lid body 10 into a plurality of lid segments 12, and are opposite to the corresponding sidewalls 22 to make the plurality of lid segments 12 correspond to the plurality of cavities 24.
  • The lid body 10 defines a plurality of threaded holes 16 along the plurality of grooves 14. The lid body 10 is mounted on the main body 20 by screws 15 passing through the plurality of threaded holes 16 and screwed in the corresponding sidewalls 22. Each lid segment 12 defines a plurality of tuning holes 18. A tuning screw 17 passes through the corresponding tuning hole 18 to adjust resonance frequency for the corresponding cavity 24 of the multi-cavity filter 100.
  • In the illustrated exemplary embodiment, the plurality of grooves 14 pass across the lid body 10 and are in parallel with each other.
  • As the lid body 10 defines the plurality of grooves 14 corresponding to the cavities 24 to improve flexibility and to reduce bending strength for the lid body 10, the plurality of lid segments 12 can snugly seal with the main body 20 even if the number of the cavities 24 is increased and the area of lid body 10 is increased as well.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, in the illustrated exemplary embodiment, cross-section of the groove 14 is substantially shaped as square. For example, if the depth of the groove 14 is A, the thickness of the lid segment 12 is C, the thickness of the lid body 10 is B at the groove 14, that is, C−A=B. Particularly, if A is 3 mm and C is 5 mm, B is 2 mm. The lid body 10 has elasticity in the areas of each groove 14 to ensure the lid segments 12 can snugly engage with their respective cavities 24, to improve reliability of the lid body 10. In other words, the multi-cavity filter 100 can work stably by controlling the snug engagement between the lid segments 12 and the plurality of cavities 24.
  • Referring to FIG. 4, the lid body 30 has similar structure and functions with the lid body 10 in the first exemplary embodiment to obtain similar purpose. However, the lid body 30 and the lid body 10 differ in terms as below. The lid body 30 defines a plurality of first grooves 34 in parallel with each other and a second groove 36 perpendicularly communicating with each of the plurality of first grooves 34. The plurality of first grooves 34 and the second groove 36 cooperatively divides the lid body 30 into a plurality of lid segments 32 corresponding to cavities of the multi-cavity filter 100.
