Abstract
Description
- The present application is related to one co-pending U.S. Patent Application (Attorney Docket No. US36990, Ser. No. 13/031,720), entitled “DISPLAY DEVICE WITH DETACHABLE DISPLAY MODULE”, by Gu et al. These applications have the same inventors and assignee as the present application and have been concurrently filed herewith. The above-identified application is incorporated herein by reference.
- 1. Technical Field
- The present disclosure relates to a display device with a detachable display module.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- Display device for a portable electronic device assembles a display module inside a device housing. The device housing usually includes a front frame and a rear housing. The front frame can be adhered or screwed to the rear housing. However, when the display module needs to be repaired or replaced, it can be difficult to detach the display module from the device housing.
- Therefore, there is room for improvement within the art.
- Many aspects of the present display device can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present display device. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric exploded view of a display device according to an exemplary embodiment. -
FIG. 2 is an enlarged partial view of the display device shown inFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of the display device at a different angle fromFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 4 is an isometric view of the display device shown inFIG. 1 at an opened position. -
FIG. 5 is an isometric view of a display device with a detachable display module at a closed position. -
FIG. 1 throughFIG. 5 shows adisplay device 100 according to an exemplary embodiment. Referring toFIG. 1 , thedisplay device 100 includes afront frame 10, twolatching members 15, arear housing 20, two connectingassemblies 35, aclamping member 30, and adetachable display module 40. - The
front frame 10 is rotatably connected to therear housing 20. Thefront frame 10 includes two oppositevertical frame sections 12, two oppositehorizontal frame sections 11 and two opposite securing bars 13 (best shown inFIG. 3 ). The twosecuring bars 13 are fixed to the twovertical frame sections 12 and oppose the inside of therear housing 20. The side wall of the securingbar 13 has ashaft hole 131 defined therein and afirst securing column 132 protruding therefrom. Theshaft hole 131 and thefirst securing column 132 are located adjacent to the end of thesecuring bar 13. - Each
latching members 15 is fixed to one of the uppervertical frame sections 11 facing the inside of therear housing 20. Each of thelatching members 15 defines alatching end portion 151 at the distal end. The uppervertical frame section 11 labels twopressing signs 111 on the exterior surface for indicating the positions of thelatching members 15. Thepressing signs 111 are located in alignment with thelatching members 15, respectively in this embodiment. - The
rear housing 20 can be latched to and be covered by thefront frame 10. Therear housing 20 includes anupper wall 21, twoopposite side walls 22, twopivot shafts 23 and two second securing columns 24 (shown inFIG. 2 ). - The
pivot shafts 23 are fixed to theside walls 22 and respectively rotatably engage in theshaft holes 131. Thesecond securing columns 24 are fixed to theside walls 22 near thepivot shafts 23. - The connecting
assembly 35 includes apivot connecting section 351, afirst assembly section 352 and asecond assembly section 353. The connectingsection 351 connects the adjoining ends of thefirst assembly section 352 and thesecond assembly section 353. Accordingly, thefirst assembly section 352 and thesecond assembly section 353 can pivot with each other about the axis of the connectingsection 351. Thefirst assembly section 352 and thesecond assembly section 353 respectively define two throughholes 355. The throughholes 355 are for securing thefirst securing column 132 and thesecond securing column 24. - The two
clamping members 30 are secured to theupper wall 21 inside therear housing 20. Theclamping members 30 can latch to thelatching members 15 when thedisplay device 100 is positioned at a closed position. Each of the clampingmembers 30 includes two movable and parallel spaced clampingarms 31 and a triggeringportion 32 between the clampingarms 31. The triggeringportion 32 can be triggered for example by a direct resistance of thelatching end portion 151, enabling the two clampingarms 31 to move towards each other or move away from each other. When moving towards each other, the clampingarms 31 can reduce the distance between them to clamp thelatching end portion 151 therebetween. When moving away from each other, the clampingarms 31 can increase the distance between them to release the latching of thelatching end portion 151. -
FIG. 4 further shows thedisplay device 100 is at an assembled state and an opened position. Thefront frame 10 is rotatably assembled with therear housing 20. Thepivot shaft 23 rotatably engages in theshaft hole 131. Thefirst securing column 132 and thesecond securing column 24 respectively rotatably engage in the throughholes 355. When thefront frame 10 rotates relative to therear housing 20, thefirst assembly section 352 rotates relative to thesecond assembly section 353 about the axis of the connectingsection 351. - In
FIG. 5 , thedisplay device 100 is positioned at a closed position and thefront frame 10 closes the opening of therear housing 20. Thedisplay module 40 is secured between thesecuring bars 13. During the closing process, thefront frame 10 can be pushed towards therear housing 20. Thelatching members 15 move towards and into the clampingmembers 30 until thelatching end portions 151 resists against thelatching end portions 151. At this time, thelatching end portion 151 exerts a pressing force on the triggeringportion 32 to the extent that the triggeringportion 32 is triggered and the two clampingarms 31 move towards each other to clamp thelatching end portion 151 therebetween. Accordingly, thelatching members 15 latch to the clampingarms 31, securing thefront frame 10 with therear housing 20. Thedisplay module 40 is secured between thefront frame 10 andrear housing 20. -
FIG. 4 further shows thedisplay device 100 in an opened position for taking out thedisplay module 40. An external force can be exerted on the positions of thefront frame 10 identified by thepressing signs 111. Then, the triggeringportion 32 is triggered and the clampingarms 31 move away from each other to release the latching of thelatching end portion 151. In this case, thefront frame 10 can be rotated relative to therear housing 20 at a predetermined angle. Thedisplay module 40 can be detached from thefront frame 10. - It is to be understood that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of assemblies and functions of various embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the present disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
