A through-hole is provided in each of the first and second ends of the support member, and the through-holes of the first and second ends of the support member are aligned with the axial holes of the first and second legs of the hair band body respectively. Two fasteners extend through the two through-holes of the first and second ends of the support member and the two axial holes of the first and second legs of the hair band body respectively to form a pivotal engagement about an axis of the fasteners so that the support member can be pivoted relative to the hair band body.
  • In a preferred form, the second opening of the support member has a width larger than a width of the first opening of the hair band body and fittingly receives the first and second legs of the hair band body, and the first and second ends of the support member abuts the first and second legs of the hair band body. The support member further includes an arcuate middle section intermediate the first and second ends of the support member, and the middle section of the support member includes a plurality of spaced protrusions formed on an outer face of the middle section.
  • Preferably, the central section of the hair band body has semi-circular cross sections and includes continuously wavy hair-banding portions, and a tooth portion extends upwards from an upper end of each of the hair-banding portions of the central section of the hair band body.
  • The present invention will become clearer in light of the following detailed description of an illustrative embodiment of this invention described in connection with the drawings.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The illustrative embodiment may best be described by reference to the accompanying drawings where:
  • FIG. 1 shows an exploded, perspective view of a hair styling band according to the preferred teachings of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the hair styling band of FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 shows a side view of the hair styling band of FIG. 2 with a support member pivoted relative to a hair band body of the hair styling band.
  • FIGS. 4, 5, 6 show side plan schematic views illustrating the operation of the hair styling band of FIG. 1 in use.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • A hair styling band according to the preferred teachings of the present invention is shown in FIGS. 1 through 6 of the drawings and generally designated 10. The hair styling band 10 includes a curved hair band body 1 adapted to be worn on a forehead of a user 4. The hair band body 1 is preferably made of plastic or metal, but other flexible materials may be utilized as well. Hair band body 1 includes an arcuate central section 16 and first and second legs 14 and 15 extending from two ends of the central section 16 respectively and defining an opening 17 therebetween. In this embodiment, the central section 16 of the hair band body 1 has semi-circular cross sections and includes continuously wavy hair-banding portions 11. A tooth portion 12 is extended upwards from an upper end of each of the hair-banding portions 11 of the central section 16. An axial hole 13 is provided in each of the first and second legs 14 and 15.
  • The hair styling band 10 further includes a support member 2 having C-shaped cross sections and including first and second ends 24 and 25 defining an opening 27 therebetween. A through-hole 22 is provided in each of the first and second ends 24 and 25 of support member 2. In this embodiment, the opening 27 of the support member 2 has a width larger than a width of the opening 17 of the hair band body 1 such that the opening 27 of the support member 2 can fittingly receive the first and second legs 14 and 15 of the hair band body 1 with through-holes 22 of the first and second ends 24 and 25 of the support member 2 aligned with axial holes 13 of the first and second legs 14 and 15 of the hair band body 1 respectively. The support member 2 further includes an arcuate middle section 26 intermediate the first and second ends 24 and 25 of the support member 2. The middle section 26 of the support member 2 includes a plurality of spaced protrusions 21 formed on an outer face 23 thereof.
  • The hair styling band 10 further includes two fasteners 3. According to the preferred form shown, each fastener 3 is in the form of a pin with an enlarged head and extended through one of through-holes 22 of first and second ends 24 and 25 and one of axial holes 13 of first and second legs 14 and 15 to form a pivotal engagement about an axis of fasteners 3. Namely, first and second ends 24 and 25 of the support member 2 are pivotally combined to first and second legs 14 and 15 of the hair band body 1 by extending fasteners 3 through through-holes 22 of the support member 2 and axial holes 13 of hair band body 1. Thus, support member 2 can be pivoted relative to hair band body 1 to a folded state (see FIG. 4) or various unfolded states (see FIGS. 5 and 6). Further, middle section 26 of support member 2 is sized and shaped to correspondingly locate at an outer side of central section 16 of hair band body 1 when the support member 2 is in the folded state (see FIG. 3). Namely, the size or radius of the middle section 26 of the support member 2 is slightly larger than that of the central section 16 of the hair band body 1. It can be appreciated that the first and second ends 24 and 25 of the support member 2 are in tight abutting with the first and second legs 14 and 15 of the hair band body 1 to retain the support member 2 in place when the support member 2 is in the unfolded states.
  • In use, the hair band body 1 of hair styling band 10 is firstly worn on a head 41 of user 4 with hair-banding portions 11 fixing the hair 44 on the forehead and temples of the head 41 and with a portion of the hair 44 on the forehead extending through spacing between the tooth portions 12 downwards to form fringes 42 (see FIG. 4). Next, the support member 2 is pulled upwards and moved to a proper position above the head 41 of user 4, and an upper layer hair 43 on the head 41 is lifted upwards away from the head 41 (see FIG. 5). Next, the support member 2 may be adjusted to a desired height relative to the hair band body 1, and then the upper layer hair 43 covers on the support member 2 with the upper layer hair 43 positioned by the protrusions 21 of the support member 2, creating a hairstyle of increased hair volume (see FIG. 6). Furthermore, when the hair band body 1 is worn on the head 41 of user 4, the user 4 can, based on the need, move the support member 2 to an appropriate position above the head 41 so as to change or adjust the hairstyle height.
  • Thus since the invention disclosed herein may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or general characteristics thereof, some of which forms have been indicated, the embodiments described herein are to be considered in all respects illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the invention is to be indicated by the appended claims, rather than by the foregoing description, and all changes which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are intended to be embraced therein.
