Abstract
A hair styling band includes a hair band body adapted to be worn on a head of a user to keep the hair of the user in place. The hair styling band further includes a C-shaped support member having first and second ends defining an opening. The first and second ends of the support member are pivotally combined to two legs of the hair band body so that the support member can be pivoted relative to the hair band body. When the hair band body is worn on the head of the user, the user can, according to the need, move the support member to a proper position above the head so that an upper layer hair of the user can cover on the support member to create a hairstyle of increased hair volume, achieving the effects of styling the hair and adjusting the hairstyle height.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a hair styling band and, more particularly, to a hair styling band that can be used to increase hair volume while allowing easy adjustment of hairstyle height.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- The function possessed by conventional hair bands is to retain or keep hair of a user in place and to help the hair maintain a desired shape, and this is the only function of conventional hair bands.
- Recently, a hair volumizing device is one of the popular hair styling devices, which is generally in the form of a block and can be worn under a section of hair of the user to create an appearance of increased hair volume, helping give the hairstyle of youth and beauty. In use, various sizes of hair volumizing devices need to be possessed to create different hairstyles in height. Furthermore, when a hair band and a hair volumizing device are used together to shape the hair of the user, the hairstyle height may not be changed or adjusted when desired.
- Thus, it is an objective of the present invention to solves this need and other problems in the field of increased hair volume by providing a hair styling band that adapted to be worn on a head of a user to keep the hair of the user in place, meanwhile, the hair styling band can be used to increase hair volume while allowing easy change of hairstyle height.
- To achieve the foregoing objective, a hair styling band of the present invention includes a curved hair band body adapted to be worn on a head of a user. The hair band body includes an arcuate central section and first and second legs extending from two ends of the central section respectively and defining a first opening therebetween. An axial hole is provided in each of the first and second legs of the hair band body. The hair styling band further includes a support member having C-shaped cross sections and including first and second ends defining a second opening therebetween. A through-hole is provided in each of the first and second ends of the support member, and the through-holes of the first and second ends of the support member are aligned with the axial holes of the first and second legs of the hair band body respectively. Two fasteners extend through the two through-holes of the first and second ends of the support member and the two axial holes of the first and second legs of the hair band body respectively to form a pivotal engagement about an axis of the fasteners so that the support member can be pivoted relative to the hair band body.
- In a preferred form, the second opening of the support member has a width larger than a width of the first opening of the hair band body and fittingly receives the first and second legs of the hair band body, and the first and second ends of the support member abuts the first and second legs of the hair band body. The support member further includes an arcuate middle section intermediate the first and second ends of the support member, and the middle section of the support member includes a plurality of spaced protrusions formed on an outer face of the middle section.
- Preferably, the central section of the hair band body has semi-circular cross sections and includes continuously wavy hair-banding portions, and a tooth portion extends upwards from an upper end of each of the hair-banding portions of the central section of the hair band body.
- The present invention will become clearer in light of the following detailed description of an illustrative embodiment of this invention described in connection with the drawings.

FIGS. 4 , 5, 6 show side plan schematic views illustrating the operation of the hair styling band ofFIG. 1 in use. - A hair styling band according to the preferred teachings of the present invention is shown in
FIGS. 1 through 6 of the drawings and generally designated 10. Thehair styling band 10 includes a curvedhair band body 1 adapted to be worn on a forehead of auser 4. Thehair band body 1 is preferably made of plastic or metal, but other flexible materials may be utilized as well.Hair band body 1 includes an arcuatecentral section 16 and first and 14 and 15 extending from two ends of thesecond legs central section 16 respectively and defining an opening 17 therebetween. In this embodiment, thecentral section 16 of thehair band body 1 has semi-circular cross sections and includes continuously wavy hair-bandingportions 11. Atooth portion 12 is extended upwards from an upper end of each of the hair-bandingportions 11 of thecentral section 16. Anaxial hole 13 is provided in each of the first and 14 and 15.second legs - The
hair styling band 10 further includes asupport member 2 having C-shaped cross sections and including first and 24 and 25 defining an opening 27 therebetween. A through-second ends hole 22 is provided in each of the first and 24 and 25 ofsecond ends support member 2. In this embodiment, the opening 27 of thesupport member 2 has a width larger than a width of the opening 17 of thehair band body 1 such that the opening 27 of thesupport member 2 can fittingly receive the first and 14 and 15 of thesecond legs hair band body 1 with through-holes 22 of the first and 24 and 25 of thesecond ends support member 2 aligned withaxial holes 13 of the first and 14 and 15 of thesecond legs hair band body 1 respectively. Thesupport member 2 further includes anarcuate middle section 26 intermediate the first and 24 and 25 of thesecond ends support member 2. Themiddle section 26 of thesupport member 2 includes a plurality of spacedprotrusions 21 formed on anouter face 23 thereof. - The
hair styling band 10 further includes twofasteners 3. According to the preferred form shown, eachfastener 3 is in the form of a pin with an enlarged head and extended through one of through-holes 22 of first and 24 and 25 and one ofsecond ends axial holes 13 of first and 14 and 15 to form a pivotal engagement about an axis ofsecond legs fasteners 3. Namely, first and 24 and 25 of thesecond ends support member 2 are pivotally combined to first and 14 and 15 of thesecond legs hair band body 1 by extendingfasteners 3 through through-holes 22 of thesupport member 2 andaxial holes 13 ofhair band body 1. Thus,support member 2 can be pivoted relative tohair band body 1 to a folded state (seeFIG. 4 ) or various unfolded states (seeFIGS. 5 and 6 ). Further,middle section 26 ofsupport member 2 is sized and shaped to correspondingly locate at an outer side ofcentral section 16 ofhair band body 1 when thesupport member 2 is in the folded state (seeFIG. 3 ). Namely, the size or radius of themiddle section 26 of thesupport member 2 is slightly larger than that of thecentral section 16 of thehair band body 1. It can be appreciated that the first and 24 and 25 of thesecond ends support member 2 are in tight abutting with the first and 14 and 15 of thesecond legs hair band body 1 to retain thesupport member 2 in place when thesupport member 2 is in the unfolded states. - In use, the
hair band body 1 ofhair styling band 10 is firstly worn on ahead 41 ofuser 4 with hair-bandingportions 11 fixing thehair 44 on the forehead and temples of thehead 41 and with a portion of thehair 44 on the forehead extending through spacing between thetooth portions 12 downwards to form fringes 42 (seeFIG. 4 ). Next, thesupport member 2 is pulled upwards and moved to a proper position above thehead 41 ofuser 4, and anupper layer hair 43 on thehead 41 is lifted upwards away from the head 41 (seeFIG. 5 ). Next, thesupport member 2 may be adjusted to a desired height relative to thehair band body 1, and then theupper layer hair 43 covers on thesupport member 2 with theupper layer hair 43 positioned by theprotrusions 21 of thesupport member 2, creating a hairstyle of increased hair volume (seeFIG. 6 ). Furthermore, when thehair band body 1 is worn on thehead 41 ofuser 4, theuser 4 can, based on the need, move thesupport member 2 to an appropriate position above thehead 41 so as to change or adjust the hairstyle height. - Thus since the invention disclosed herein may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or general characteristics thereof, some of which forms have been indicated, the embodiments described herein are to be considered in all respects illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the invention is to be indicated by the appended claims, rather than by the foregoing description, and all changes which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are intended to be embraced therein.
Claims (5)
1. A hair styling band comprising:
a curved hair band body adapted to be worn on a head of a user, with the hair band body including an arcuate central section and first and second legs extending from two ends of the central section respectively and defining a first opening between the first and second legs, with an axial hole provided in each of the first and second legs of the hair band body;
a support member having C-shaped cross sections and including first and second ends defining a second opening between the first and second ends, with a through-hole provided in each of the first and second ends of the support member, with the two through-holes of the first and second ends of the support member aligned with the two axial holes of the first and second legs of the hair band body respectively; and
two fasteners extending through the two through-holes of the first and second ends of the support member and the two axial holes of the first and second legs of the hair band body respectively to form a pivotal engagement about an axis of the fasteners.
2. The hair styling band according to claim 1 , with the second opening of the support member having a width larger than a width of the first opening of the hair band body and fittingly receiving the first and second legs of the hair band body, and with the first and second ends of the support member abutting the first and second legs of the hair band body.
3. The hair styling band according to claim 2 , with the support member further including an arcuate middle section intermediate the first and second ends of the support member, and with the middle section of the support member including a plurality of spaced protrusions formed on an outer face of the middle section.
4. The hair styling band according to claim 3 , with the size of the middle section of the support member being slightly larger than that of the central section of the hair band body.
5. The hair styling band according to claim 3 , with the central section of the hair band body having semi-circular cross sections and including continuously wavy hair-banding portions, with a tooth portion extending upwards from an upper end of each of the hair-banding portions of the central section, and with each of the two fasteners being in the form of a pin with an enlarged head.
