Abstract

A jewelry organizer configured to hold various sizes and types of jewelry items so that all pieces of a particular style or color may be stored and displayed in one location. The jewelry organizer includes at least one card including a frame and at least one crossing bar secured to the frame. A web panel is connected to each crossing bar. The web panel includes a plurality of holes and openings. A plurality of hooks is attached to the crossing bars and a hanging rod is located on the top end of the frame. The holes and openings are adapted to receive a plurality of different jewelry items.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims the benefit of priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/381,891 filed Sep. 10, 2010, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally relates to a jewelry organizer. More particularly, the present invention relates to an organizer that allows sorting jewelry depending on the user's preferences, such as color or style.
A plurality of devices has been developed for the organization, storage, or display of jewelry and accessories. Typically, jewelry organizers are configured to accommodate jewelry items by shape. In view of this, necklaces are kept in one place, earrings in another place, rings in another place, and bracelets in another place. Unfortunately, the typical jewelry organizer does not provide the user with a clear view of all of the items together, making it difficult for the user to choose the desired matching combination of jewelry.
Furthermore, if the user wants to coordinate jewelry to clothing/outfits they must rummage through several locations in order to choose the desired matching combination of earrings, necklaces, bracelet, rings, or other item(s) to be worn.
As can be seen, there is a need for a jewelry organizer, configured to accommodate jewelry items of different shapes.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a jewelry organizer includes at least one card including a frame and at least one crossing bar secured to the frame, a web panel connected to each crossing bar, the web panel includes a plurality of holes and openings, a plurality of hooks attached to the crossing bars, and a hanging rod located on the top end of the frame.
In another aspect of the present invention, a jewelry organizer includes a housing, a turnstile carousel attached to the base of the housing, the turnstile carousel includes a rotatable base having a central shaft turned by a hub, a knob operatively connected to the hub to rotate the hub, a plurality of cross arms extending radially from the hub, each cross arm includes at least one fastener extending laterally from the cross arm, at least one card including a frame and at least one crossing bar secured to the frame, a web panel connected to each crossing bar, the web panel includes a plurality of holes and openings, a plurality of hooks attached to the crossing bars, a hanging rod located on the top end of the frame, and each card hangs on one of the fasteners by the hanging rod.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
Various inventive features are described below that can each be used independently of one another or in combination with other features.
Broadly, embodiments of the present invention generally provide a jewelry organizer configured to hold various sizes and types of jewelry items so that all pieces of a particular style or color may be stored and displayed in one location.
FIGS. 1-3 show a jewelry organizer 10 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The jewelry organizer 10 may include at least one card 12. The number of cards 12 may depend on the user's requirements and the available hanging space. Each card 12 may include a frame 22, at least one crossing bar 26 secured to the frame 22, and a web panel 28 connected to each crossing bar 26.
The card 12 may be made of a sturdy material such as hard plastic, polymer, metal, wood, composite, or resin. In some embodiments, the card 12 may be injection molded or molded by using a thermoplastic resin such as polypropylene. The size of the card 12 may depend on the user's preferences. The card 12 may be from about 1.5 inches to about 5 inches wide, typically 3 inches wide and from about 7 inches to about 12 inches long, typically 9 inches long. The card 12 may be a unitary piece.
The crossing bars 26 may be an integral part of the card 12. The crossing bars 26 may be made of the same material as the card 12. The distance between adjacent crossing bars 26 may depend on the size of the jewelry item to be hung from the crossing bars 26. In some embodiments, the distance between two adjacent crossing bars 26 may allow the hanging of at least one of long necklaces and big earrings.
The web panel 28 may include a plurality of holes 30 and openings 32. The holes 30 and openings 32 may be adapted to receive jewelry items. The holes 30 may have a regular shape such as a circle or oval. The openings 32 may have irregular shapes with one end being larger than the opposite end. In some embodiments, the openings 32 may have a pear shape. The jewelry items may be hung on the holes 30 and/or openings 32.
A plurality of hooks 14 may be attached to the crossing bars 26 at various locations to best arrange and accommodate jewelry items. The hooks 14 may allow the user to securely hang jewelry such as necklaces 50, bracelets 52, rings 56, or brooches (not shown). The number of hooks 14 may depend on the user's requirements. The hooks 14 may be a separate piece from the card 12 or may be an integral part of the card 12. The hooks 14 may be snapped onto the crossing bars 26. The hooks 14 may be made of a sturdy material such as hard plastic, polymer, metal, wood, composite, or resin.
A hanging rod 24 may be placed on a top end of the frame 22. The hanging rod 24 may allow hanging the jewelry organizer 10 for storage or display. The hanging rod 24 may be an integral part of the frame 22.
The card 12 may be suspended by the hanging rod 24 by fasteners 18 located on a support device 16. The fasteners 18 may be a commercially available fastener that may allow it to securely hang one of the cards 12. The fasteners 18 may be snail hooks, clasps, or clips.
The support device 16 may be any commercially available support that may allow it to hang the card 12. The support device 16 may be a hanger, a stand, a rack, a display device, or a rod. The support device 16 may be designed to provide a balance for the cards 12, regardless of the number of cards 12. The support device 16 may include a main fastener 20 to hang the support device 16 to a surface (not shown). The support device 16 may be made of a sturdy material such as hard plastic, polymer, metal, wood, composite, or resin.
FIG. 4 shows a jewelry organizer 34 according to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The jewelry organizer 34 may include a housing 44 having a base 42 and doors 46. The housing 44 may be made of a sturdy material such as wood, metal, thermoplastic, or glass. The housing 44 may be a stand-alone housing or may be incorporated into a cabinet. The housing 44 may be designed to be placed on top of a table or on the floor. The size and shape of the housing 44 may depend on the user's requirements.
The doors 46 may be connected to the housing 42 by hinges 47. A turnstile carousel 35 may be attached to the base 42. The size of the turnstile carousel 35 may depend on the size of the housing 44. The turnstile carousel 35 may include a rotatable base 54 including a central shaft 40 that may be turned by a hub 36. The hub 36 may be turned by turning a knob 37 located at the top end of the housing 44.
A plurality of cross arms 38 may extend radially from the hub 36. Each cross arm 38 may include at least one fastener 18 extending laterally from the cross arm 38. The size of the cross arms 38 may depend on the size of the turnstile carousel 35 and the size of the housing 35. One card 12 may be hung on each fastener 18 by the hanging rod 24.
At least one slot 55 may be attached to the rotatable base 54 of the housing 44. The shape and size of the slots 55 may depend on the size and shape of the rotatable base 54. In some embodiments, the slots 55 have a circular shape. Rings 56 may be stored on the slots 55. Holders 48 may be attached to the doors 46 of the housing 44. The holders 48 may be adapted to hold bracelets 52 and necklaces 50 and other items that may not match to the selected jewelry collection. The holders 48 may be for example hooks, pins, or pincushions.
A storage compartment (not shown) may be added to the housing 44 to store and display jewelry items that may not match to the selected jewelry collection.
A pouch (not shown) may be used to store one card 12 for traveling purposes. The pouch may be made of a non-abrasive and flexible material. The pouch may be made of vinyl, fabric, or cloth. The size of the pouch may depend on the size of the card 12 laden with the jewelry items. In some embodiments, the size of the pouch may be from about 2 inches to about 6 inches wide, typically 4 inches wide; from about 7 inches to about 11 inches high, typically 9 inches high; and from about 0.5 inches to about 2 inches deep, typically 1 inch deep.
The user (not shown) may attach to one card 12 various jewelry items such as rings, earrings, watches, bracelets, and necklaces. The user may sort the jewelry items by color or style to complement a desired style or color of clothing. Then, the user may arrange the cards 12 on the support device 16 or cross arms 38 of the housing 44.
The jewelry organizer 10, 34 may allow the user to store, in one card 12, a plurality of different types of jewelry items. In addition, the jewelry organizer 10, 34 may allow the user to store the jewelry items by color to match with specific clothing.
It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A jewelry organizer comprising:

at least one card including a frame and at least one crossing bar secured to the frame, wherein the frame includes a top end and a bottom end;

a web panel connected to each crossing bar, the web panel includes a plurality of holes and openings;

a plurality of hooks attached to the crossing bars; and

a hanging rod located on the top end of the frame.

2. The jewelry organizer according to claim 1, further including a support device having a main fastener and a plurality of fasteners, wherein the cards are hung on the fasteners by the hanging rods, wherein the support device is hung on a solid support by the main fastener.

3. The jewelry organizer according to claim 2, wherein the fasteners are selected from snail hooks, clasps, or clips.

4. The jewelry organizer according to claim 2, wherein the support device is a hanger.

5. The jewelry organizer according to claim 1, wherein the card is a unitary piece card.

6. The jewelry organizer according to claim 2, wherein the main fasteners are a hook.

7. A jewelry organizer comprising:

a housing having a top end, a base, and doors;

a turnstile carousel attached to the base of the housing, wherein the turnstile carousel includes a rotatable base having a central shaft turned by a hub;

a knob operatively connected to the hub, wherein rotating the knob turns the hub;

a plurality of cross arms extending radially from the hub, wherein each cross arm includes at least one fastener extending laterally from the cross arm;

a plurality of hooks attached to the crossing bars; and

a hanging rod located on the top end of the frame;

wherein each card is adapted to be hung on one of the fasteners by the hanging rod.

8. The jewelry organizer according to claim 7, wherein the fasteners are selected from snail hooks, clasps, or clips.

9. The jewelry organizer according to claim 7, wherein the card is a unitary piece card.

10. The jewelry organizer according to claim 7, further comprising a storage compartment attached to the housing.
