Other objects of the invention are to provide a lip guard of the aforementioned character which will be comparatively simple in construction, highly eflicient and reliable in use, sanitary, and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study ofthe following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure .1 is a front perspective view, showing a lip guard in accordance with the present invention in use.
Figure 21s a view in front elevation of thelip uard.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the invention, showing the same when not in use.
Figure 4 is a plan view, showing the parts of the device in the position which they assume when in use.
Figure is a sectional view, taken substantially on the line 5-5 of Figure 4.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a shield I of suitable material, preferably heavy paper. As illustrated to advantage in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing, the shield I conforms substantially in outline to the outline of the human lips.
The shield I is of flexible material and struck longitudinally therefrom is a retaining or supporting bit 2 for engagement between the lips or teeth of the user for maintaining said shield I The bit 2 terminates in enlarged or flared end portions 3 which merge with the shield I.
garments by rouge on It is believed that the manner of using the device will be readily apparent. The bit 2 is flexed laterally in a manner to project from the shield I to permit said bit to be conveniently the lips or teeth of the user.
enlarged end portions 3 provide strong joints between the bit 2 and the shield I. is drawn between the lips of the user, the shield I is bowed longitudinally in a manner to conform to the curvature of the lips, as best seen in Figure 4 of the drawing.
It is believed that the many advantages of a lip guard constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
