Abstract
The table top portion of the patio deck extension is aligned in a row with spaces between the 4 major slats and is secured at the bottom with cross members to form a base. The sides are then mounted around the perimeter. The angled support stabilizers are mounted to the cross members on the bottom of the deck extensions platform then attached to the existing deck uprights (Ballasts). All parts are secured using screws of various lengths. The purpose of this invention is to create additional deck space; it allows the home owner to use the patio deck extension to aid in storing, servicing and entertaining without infringing on their existing deck space.
Description

- NOT APPLICABLE
- The concept of this product/invention was brought to light (developed) due to the ever increasing nature of condensed housing in major cities throughout the world. The reduction in patio deck sizes has created a need for increased outdoor counter space for entertaining purposes, without infringing upon the current floor space of the existing deck and without taking away from the decks square footage.
- It is the object of the invention/product to create more usable deck space. This invention/product allows for the mounting of the deck extender to be flush with the top rail of the upright. To enhance stability there are angled struts that mount to the bottom of the platform and the opposite ends to the existing styles of the deck uprights. To address drainage issues the invention/product has spaces between the slats that make up the platform, and by using pressure treated boards and galvanized screws the inclement weather conditions will not cause any type of deterioration or failures.
- NOT APPLICABLE
- The pressure treated fence board slats are aligned in a row with spaces between the slats and are secured at the bottom with cross members to form a base. The sides are then mounted around the perimeter in order to protect items from sliding or falling off the platform. The angled stabilizers are mounted to the bottom supports of the platform then attached to the existing deck uprights. All parts are attached using galvanized screws of various lengths.
- This patent application is being sought for various designs of the intended use. The wood material has been referenced as pressure treated fence board, but the product may be made using any type of lumber/material that is strong enough to support the product and available in the marketplace, such as, pine, oak, cedar, plastic, vinyl, PVC, particle board, varying compositions of wood, etc. The fastening materials have been referred to as galvanized screws, but the product may be secured using any type of material that is strong enough to support the product and is available in the market place, such as, heavy duty staples, nails, screws, etc.
