Abstract

Stylin Kombs address the problem of separating hair that is not being styled from the portion that is being styled without the use of pins, short combs, rubber band or braiding. Styling hair can be a quicker process once the “komb” which fits the hair is pressed down onto the hair that needs to be separated while the other hair is being worked on. Once the stylist is ready for more hair to work with the Stylin Komb is then pulled upward and removed from the separated portion of the hair and placed on to the next part of the hair that needs to be separated. This process is repeated until the styling process is completed. Stylin kombs can also be used to part the hair during the hair separation process.
This “komb” can also be used an accessory with or without decorative flowers, cords and ribbon. This komb is very versatile because it can be changed into a hair accessory beautifies any hair style or type.
The “Komb” is fits the shape of the head and the rim and sides where you hold the comb is made of flexible plastic or other flexible material. The teeth of the comb are made from a harder plastic or metal and protrude downward.

Description

    BACKGROUND
  • Stylin Kombs are to be used in the field of Beauty Culture. Beauty Culture at home, in the hair salon, or barbershop.
  • The subject matter that this invention addresses is hair styling. Plastic combs currently on the market cannot control a large portion of hair due to their length and shape. Stylin Kombs are longer than the standard haircomb.
  • Stylin Kombs are also flexible. They bend to fit the customers head, thus making it easier for the stylist or customer to work with a large portion of the hair.
  • Stylin Kombs teeth protrude from the inside of the comb. While styling hair there are sections of hair that must be kept in place while one is working on changing the hair to a desired look. Large portions of hair cannot be kept in place with a straight comb. A bendable comb sized to fit the child, teen or adult head of hair can help the stylist or person easily control a larger portion of the hair while working on or styling on another section of the hair resulting in faster easier styling process.
  • When styling hair, beauticians, barbers (stylists) can only separate a small portion of the hair because the comb used to separate the hair is not long enough and does not fit the shape of the head to hold the hair in place. There is a need to hold hair down with a comb of appropriate size while conserving energy. This makes the stylists job easier while processing the hair with the flat iron, straightening comb, hair color or other styling tools.
  • U.S. Pat No. 4,126,143 Shroeder's disclosure of a comb device with heat conducting teeth assists stylists with hair straightening. If hair is braided and dreaded heat is not necessary to control hair that is not being worked on.
  • US Patent 20080127989—Comb for use with a flat iron.Chapman, Chudzik and Harper's comb design is used only with a flat iron.
  • Styling tools are usually limited to styling purpose only and are not transformed into beauty accessories

  • Horizontal styling or working of the hair—place comb at the front of head with the middle of comb in the center of the forehead and the ends in front of the top of the ear push comb in backward direction. Part hair horizontally comb can be placed on either side to move hair away from hair that is being worked on.
  • Vertical Styling—Part hair in center. Top end of comb will be at the hairline (or widows peak if applicable) bottom end of comb will be at the neck where the hair stops. Comb will hold excess hair down in a vertical position.
  • Diagonal Styling/working—Part hair diagonally and place comb on unwanted hair to separate hair in a diagonal fashion.
  • Safety Features:
  • comb does not use electricity so it is safe to use by teens and adults indoors and outdoors. Combs can also be worn in wet weather.
  • If so desired, this working tool can be decorated with string cord, flowers and other accessories when not in use with flattening irons; straitening combs or hot curling irons.
  • Accessories must be removed when the comb is being used with other energy assisted styling tools.
  • How the Comb is Made
  • Stylin kombs are made from bendable plastic or rubber (top of comb where you hold the comb)
  • Teeth are made from sturdy plastic.
  • Teeth are smaller (½ inch) (at both ends and are longest at the center (1 inch))
  • Combs come in three sizes: children, teens an adults (10 inches, 11 inches and 12 inches respectively)
  • DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • 1A, 1B. 1C on page 1 show Stylin Kombs at various lengths for adults, teens and kids. This is a face out drawing of each comb,
  • Page 2 shows stylin kombs placed horizontally and vertically on the hair of customers. Front side and back view. (FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 respectively)
  • BRIEF SUMMARY
  • With a larger portion of hair separated from hair that is being styled or worked on, styling becomes less frustrating—no more short combs, braiding, or rubber bands are needed to separate hair when Stylin Kombs are used.
  • Push the StylinKomb gently away from hair that you are woring with and you can perform the task of styling without constant pushing of hair that is in your way.
  • If you want a portion of your hair out and the rest laying down neatly, position the Stylin Komb in hair as desired as an accessory.
  • With the surge of conservation among all of us we must create hair styling tools that will help save energy and at the same time help stylists and others to quickly process and style hair. Stylin kombs can be used with out electricity, and they can be used to help speed up other styling processes. A few pennies can be saved with Stylin Kombs. They not only help in the styling process, they help beautify the hair as an accessory.
  • If there happens to be a power outage, heat controlling tools that aid in the hair styling process cannot be used. Stylin Kombs can be used when the power is on or off. The comb is very easy to used by both males and females.
