Abstract
A brush applicator is adapted to be mounted to a liquid container and includes a brush unit, a hollow holding member, and a liquid discharging member. The brush unit includes a bristle-mounting seat and a plurality of bristles mounted on the bristle-mounting seat. The liquid discharging member is in the form of a single piece, and includes a base portion adapted to be received in the liquid container, and a tubular portion extending from the base portion through the bristle-mounting seat into the bristles. The liquid discharging member defines a fluid path extending through the base portion and the tubular portion. The hollow holding member is sleeved fittingly on the bristle-mounting seat and the base portion, and has a constricted open end for extension of the bristles therethrough.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- This invention relates to a brush applicator, more particularly to a brush applicator that is adapted to be installed on a liquid container.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- A considerable number of brush applicators designed for use on a liquid container have been disclosed. The manufacture of such conventional brush applicators is a cumbersome, labor-intensive process due to the large number of components requiring assembly. Furthermore, a liquid discharging portion of the conventional brush applicator is made of a metal material, which can easily injure a user's lips during an application process.
- Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a brush applicator for a liquid container that can overcome the aforesaid drawbacks of the prior art.
- According to the present invention, the brush applicator is adapted to be mounted to the liquid container, and includes a brush unit, a hollow holding member, and a liquid discharging member. The brush unit includes a bristle-mounting seat and a plurality of bristles mounted on the bristle-mounting seat. The liquid discharging member is in the form of a single piece and includes a base portion adapted to be received in the liquid container, and a tubular portion extending from the base portion through the bristle-mounting seat into the bristles. The liquid discharging member defines a fluid path extending through the base portion and the tubular portion. The hollow holding member is sleeved fittingly on the bristle-mounting seat and the base portion, and has a constricted open end for extension of the bristles therethrough.
- Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:
-
FIG. 1 is a sectional view of a preferred embodiment of a brush applicator according to the present invention in a state mounted to a liquid container; -
FIG. 2 is an exploded sectional view of the brush applicator according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention; and -
FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of the brush applicator according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 , 2 and 3, the preferred embodiment of abrush applicator 10 according to this invention is mounted to aliquid container 4, and is enclosed by acap 5 that is removable from theliquid container 4. Because the feature of the present invention does not reside in the specific configuration of theliquid container 4 and thecap 5, the present invention should not be limited to the particular configurations of theliquid container 4 and thecap 5 disclosed herein. - The
brush applicator 10 includes abrush unit 7, a liquid dischargingmember 6 and ahollow holding member 8. Thebrush unit 7 includes a bristle-mountingseat 71 and a plurality ofbristles 72 mounted on the bristle-mounting seat 71. The liquid dischargingmember 6 is in the form of a single piece, and includes abase portion 61 adapted to be received in theliquid container 4, and atubular portion 62 extending from thebase portion 61 through the bristle-mounting seat 71 into thebristles 72. The liquid dischargingmember 6 defines afluid path 65 extending through thebase portion 61 and thetubular portion 62. Thehollow holding member 8 is sleeved fittingly on the bristle-mounting seat 71 and thetubular portion 62, and has a constricted open end for extension of thebristles 72 therethrough. The bristle-mounting seat 71 is sleeved on thebase portion 61 of the liquid dischargingmember 6 and abuts against anupper surface 63 of thebase portion 61. The liquid dischargingmember 6 is fabricated from a plastic material. Moreover, the liquid dischargingmember 6 further includes aflange 64 extending radially outward from a lower end of thebase portion 61. Thehollow holding member 8 has a lower end abuts against theflange 64. Thehollow holding member 8 further includes a limitingmember 82 that extends radially inward from an inner surface of thehollow holding member 8. The bristle-mounting seat 71 having a bottom surface abuts against thelimiting member 82. - To assemble the
brush applicator 10, thebrush unit 7 is first sleeved onto the liquid dischargingmember 6. That is, the bristle-mounting seat 71 is sleeved on thetubular portion 62 and is slid downward until the bristle-mounting seat 71 is disposed on theupper surface 63 of thebase portion 61. As a result, thetubular portion 62 is centrally buried inside thebristles 72. Thereafter, thehollow holding member 8 is sleeved over thebristles 72 and is further directed downward until the bristle-mounting seat 71 is pushed to move past thelimiting member 82 and abuts against an upper surface of thelimiting member 82 of thehollow holding member 8. Consequently, thehollow holding member 8 is disposed on theflange 64 of the liquid dischargingmember 6 to thereby integrally secure the liquid dischargingmember 6 and thebrush body 7. Thehollow holding member 8 surrounds thebristles 72 in a tightly bundled manner such that thebristles 72 protrude outwardly beyond the constricted open end of thehollow holding member 8 in a constricted state. - In the present invention, the
tubular portion 62 of the liquid dischargingmember 6 is fabricated from a plastic material rather than from a metal material as is typically the case in the conventional brush applicator. Hence, injury to the user's lips is minimized in the event that a large brushing force is inadvertently applied by the user. - Furthermore, the liquid discharging
member 6 is in the form of a single piece molded in a single process. Consequently, the overall manufacturing process of thebrush applicator 10 is simplified. - In use, the
cap 5 is simply removed from theliquid container 4. Then, theliquid container 4 is squeezed so that the liquid flows through thefluid path 65 and moistens thebristles 72. The liquid may then be applied to the user's lips. - While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements.
