Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates generally to a perm rod, and, more particularly, to a perm rod that reduces damage to the waves of hair and also reduces the time taken to curl hair, thus making it easy and convenient to perform the permanent waving of hair.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Generally, dyeing or permanent waving is performed in order to create a hairstyle that expresses one's own personality. Such permanent waving is generally performed using perm rods. In greater detail, in order to form waves in hair, permanent waving is performed in such a way that an appropriate number of hairs is placed on a sheet of permanent wave paper, a permanent waving agent is distributed thereon, the sheet of permanent wave paper is rolled around a body having the shape of a perm rod, fixed using a band, maintained for a predetermined period of time while being heated, and then unrolled.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 show a conventional perm rod, which is used to perform permanent waving.
  • As shown in FIGS. 1 and, 2, the rod used to perform permanent waving includes a body 10, which has a cylindrical shape and has a plurality of band depressions 12 formed in each of both ends thereof, a sheet of permanent wave paper 20, rolled around the body 10 in the state in which an appropriate number of hairs is placed on the sheet of permanent wave paper 20, and a rubber band 30, fixing the sheet of permanent wave paper 20, which is rolled around the body 10, so that the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is not unrolled.
  • Meanwhile, the body 10 is typically manufactured from synthetic resin. However, synthetic resin is a material that has well-known disadvantages in that it has poor chemical resistance and in that it has a heat-sensitive characteristic. Accordingly, if the body 10 is manufactured to be thinner than a critical thickness, a problem occurs in that the body 10 is damaged because it does not resist the toxicity of the permanent wave agent, which is used in the process of performing permanent waving, and is also easily deformed by heat.
  • As a result, when the body 10 is manufactured using synthetic resin, it is essential to improve the durability by making the body 10 thick. However, if the body 10 is made thick, as described above, problems occur in that a hanging phenomenon occurs due to the increase in the weight of the body 10, and in that heat is not effectively transmitted to hair due to the decreased thermal conductivity, so that the heating temperature must be set higher and the heating time must be set longer in order to effectively form waves in the hair in the process of performing permanent waving.
  • Furthermore, when permanent waving is performed, it is essential to use dedicated agents, and thus work must be performed in the state in which gloves are worn on both hands. However, conventionally, the rubber band 30 used to fix the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is made of thin rubber material, so that there is a disadvantage in that it is difficult to perform fine work, such as holding the thin rubber band 30 with the fingers or fitting the thin rubber band 30 into the band depressions 12 while holding it with the fingers.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems occurring in the prior art, and provides a perm rod, which can be used for a long time because it is highly durable and has high thermal conductivity, thus enabling the effective permanent waving of hair, and which makes it easy to handle a rubber band, thus making it convenient to perform work.
  • In the present invention, a perm rod body is made of an aluminum material, so that the durability and thermal conductivity thereof are assured. Furthermore, a rubber band is detachably fastened to the perm rod body, so that the perm rod body can be conveniently used.
  • The present invention provides a perm rod, including a body having a cylindrical shape and configured such that hair is rolled around the body; a sheet of permanent wave paper rolled around the body in the state in which an appropriate number of hairs is placed on the sheet of permanent wave paper; and a rubber band fixing the sheet of permanent wave paper, which is rolled around the body, so that the sheet of paper is not unrolled; wherein the body is made of an aluminum material, has a hollow cylindrical shape, and is configured such that a plurality of slots is formed in the outer surface of the body, and caps, having coupling protrusions, are fitted into the respective ends of the body, and wherein the rubber band has coupling holes, which are formed in the respective ends thereof, and is detachably coupled to the coupling protrusions.
  • Furthermore, a plurality of frictional protrusions may be formed on the outer surface of the body.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a view schematically showing the construction of a conventional perm rod;
  • FIG. 2 is a view showing the assembly of parts of the conventional perm rod;
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view schematically showing a perm rod according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 4 is a side view showing the coupling of a rubber band according to the present invention; and
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 are views showing the state in which a sheet of permanent wave paper, which is rolled around a body using the rubber band according to the present invention, is fixed.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • The present invention is described below in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, that is, FIGS. 3 to 6.
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view schematically showing a perm rod according to the present invention.
  • The perm rod according to the present invention basically includes a body 10 configured such that hair is rolled around it, a sheet of permanent wave paper 10 rolled around the body 10 in the state in which an appropriate number of hairs is placed on the sheet of permanent wave paper, and a rubber band 30 fixing the sheet of permanent wave paper 10, which is rolled around the body 10, so that the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is not unrolled.
  • The body 10 is made of an aluminum material and has a cylindrical shape. In greater detail, the body 10 is configured such that the central portion thereof has a gentle slope and is formed to be concave, so that hair is gathered in the central portion but is not pushed to both ends of the body 10.
  • Generally, aluminum is a material that has high thermal conductivity and is also light and solid. Accordingly, when the body 10 is made of an aluminum material, as described above, durability is remarkably improved, and in addition, the heat applied when performing permanent waving is uniformly transmitted, so that it is possible to form waves in hair even when heat having a low temperature is applied for a short period of time, therefore enabling permanent waving to be more effectively performed.
  • Furthermore, as needed, materials emitting both negative ions and far infrared rays are selectively applied on the body 10, so that it can help not only minimize damage to hair but also heal damaged portions.
  • A plurality of slots 14 is formed in the body 10 in the longitudinal direction thereof. A plurality of frictional protrusions 16 is formed in portions of the outer surface of the body 10, in which the slots 14 are not formed.
  • The slots 14 are parts for helping dry hair using heated air and helping effectively form waves by facilitating the transmission of heat. The frictional protrusions 16 are parts that allow the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 to be well rolled up by increasing the frictional force when the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is rolled around the body 10.
  • Caps 40 a and 40 b are fitted into the respective ends of the body 10, constructed as described above. Coupling protrusions 42 protrude from the caps 40 a and 40 b toward the outside. The coupling protrusions 42 are parts that are fitted into the rubber band 30, which will be described later. In this case, it is preferred that the ends of the coupling protrusions 42 be extended so that the coupling protrusions 42 cannot be easily released when the coupling protrusions 42 are coupled with the rubber band 30.
  • The sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is a sheet of thin paper that is rolled around the body 10 in the state in which an appropriate number of hairs is placed and regularly arranged on the body 10. A conventional well-known part is used as the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 without change.
  • The rubber band 30 is a part that, when the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is rolled around the body 10 after an appropriate number of hairs is placed and regularly arranged on the sheet of permanent wave paper 20, fixes the rolled sheet of permanent wave paper 20 so that the rolled sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is not unrolled.
  • Coupling holes 32 a and 32 b are provided in respective ends of the rubber band 30. Of the coupling holes 32, the coupling hole 32 a is coupled with any one of the coupling protrusions 42 formed on the caps 40, which are fitted into and are fastened to the respective ends of the body 10, and thus the rubber band 30 can be detachably fastened to the body 10.
  • Meanwhile, protrusions may be optionally formed on one end of the rubber band 30 so that, when the rubber band 30 is held with the fingers, slipping can be prevented by friction.
  • The use of the perm rod according to the present invention is described below.
  • FIG. 4 is a side view showing the coupling of a rubber band according to the present invention, and FIGS. 5 and 6 are views showing the state in which a sheet of permanent wave paper, which is rolled around a body using the rubber band according to the present invention, is fixed.
  • As shown in FIG. 4, the coupling protrusion 42 of the cap 40 a, which is one of the coupling protrusions 42 formed on the caps 40 a and 40 b, which are fitted into the respective ends of the perm rod body 10 according the present invention, is fitted into one end of the rubber band 30. At this time, the worker who performs permanent waving is wearing gloves on both hands, and preparation is made by coupling the rubber band 30 in advance before permanent waving is actually performed.
  • Thereafter, an appropriate number of hairs is placed and regularly arranged on the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 while a permanent waving agent is applied thereto in the state in which the gloves are worn on both hands.
  • Thereafter, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, in the state in which the sheet of permanent wave paper 20, on which the appropriate number of hairs is placed, is rolled around the body 10, the free end of the rubber band 30 is held and pulled with one hand, and thus the coupling protrusion 42 formed on the remaining cap 40 b is fitted into the coupling hole 32 b formed in the free end of the rubber band 30.
  • After the rubber band 30 has been completely fastened through the above-described process, the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 is maintained in the state in which it is not unrolled and is tightly fixed.
  • The rubber band 30 is constructed as described, so that the rubber band 30 is easily held and fastened using hands on which gloves are worn, therefore the sheet of permanent wave paper 20 can be easily unrolled. Accordingly, permanent waving can be conveniently performed and the working time can be reduced.
  • According to the present invention, the body of the perm rod is made of an aluminum material, so that the durability is improved and the thermal conductivity is increased, therefore permanent waving can be effectively performed. Furthermore, the rubber band is detachably fastened to the rod body, so that work can be conveniently performed.
  • Although the preferred embodiment of the present invention has been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.
