Description
UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEEIoE.
G. NATGHER, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
MILLSTONE-DRESS.
To all whom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, GABRIEL NATGHER, of Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Mode of Applying the Diamond t0 the Dress of Millstones; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear7 and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specication, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure l is a perspective view showing the inst-rument and mode of operating the same. Fig. 2, is a view of the instrument.
The nature and use of Iny discovery is seen in the fact that by this instrument I am enabled to produce the brack upon the face of the stone in perfect and parallel lines without disintegrating or detonizing the quality of the stone. The corner or side of the line or crack being perfectly sharp and Specification of Letters Patent No. 205084, dated April 27, 1858.
hard, experiment has shown that a stone dressed by this instrument will remain sharp during a much longer period, than when dressed by any other instrument, doing six or seven times the amount of work which will dull a stone dressed upon any of the old or ordinary plans of dressing with picks.
The lines are produced parallel to each other by running the instrument by the side lof a ruler of the form to give the required ine.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The application of the diamond in the production of the small lines in any required form upon the face of mil1-stones for dressing the same.
GABRIEL NATCHER. Witnesses:
I-I. W. ELLSWORTH, WM. S. HUBBARD.
