5 Claims. (Cl. 285-49) This invention relates to steel barrel or drum In mounting fi 10058 On the barrel head, the heads, and particularly to the construction and body I is placed through the opennig 8 and mounting of the plug-flanges or bosses in such pressed down until the flange l snugly engages heads. the gasket 4. The thin skirt is then deformed 5 Due to the increasing scarcity of suitable wood wa dly as at 9 a lower edge, W Such p for barrel making, steel is being increasingly used Sure that the defor Skirt Dresses against the for this purpose. Inasmuch as the barrels or head flange 6 sufiici y to deflect the e drums are frequently used but once and are then wardly and cause the flange l to bite into the discarded, it is necessary that the cost of their body I, as indicated at Ill. The boss is thus held 10 construction, which includes the provision of a m d p a nt in an a al direction from the 10 flange or'boss to retain the bung plug, be kept as barrel head. low as possibl To insure non-rotation of the boss on the head,
It is therefore the main object of my invention even though great turning pressure is applied to provide a very simple, cheap and yet eflicient t0 the p the dBfOITIiEitiOh Of the Skirt 3 is 3 plug-retaining flange, which is mounted in the a i d u at Spaced points about he CiI'Cum- 15 barrel head in such a manner that leakage is posference thereof.
