3 Claims. (Cl. 206-57) This invention relates to an apparatus for bolding and facilitating the. individual delivery of sanitary seat covers, such as employed for covering the seats of toilets.

One of the objects of the invention is to provide simple means for holding'a'pack of the seat covers in such a way that the'removal of covers, oneby one, is facilitated.

A' further object of the invention is the seat to provide an apparatus of this kind constructed in such a way as to facilitate the supplying of the seat covers in a pack mounted in a holder, the holder being constructed so as to enable a portion of the foremost seat cover of the pack to be exposed at an opening and so that the foremost seat cover can be readily withdrawn from the holder through the opening; and to accomplish this without disturbing the seat covers constituting the remainder hot the pack.

A further object of the invention is to provide a 'holder of simple construction for carrying a pack of seat covers and having a construction enabling it to cooperate with a rigid outer holder in which the same can be readily placed, said holders being correlated in construction so as to facilitate the removal of the seat covers, one by one, as desired for use.

Before proceeding to a more detailed description of the invention, it should be stated that in practising my invention I provide a holder for a pack of seat covers. This holder may constitute 15 the only holder for the seat covers, but in practice I prefer to provide an inner holder and an outer holder. The inner holder then operates as an envelope for carrying a pack of the seat covers, and in practice this holder is sl pped into position in a more substantial outer holder, preferably constructed of sheet metal and which is secured to a support in the vicinity of the toilet.

Referring more particularly to the parts, I indicates a holder which preferably constitutes the inner'holder, and this holder is preferably in the form of a box form envelope, into which the pack of seat covers is introduced. If this holder l V were formed of" rigid material, such as metal, it

could be employed as the only holder for the pack.

However, I prefer to mount this inner holder i in an outer holder 2 (see Fig. 2). This outer holder is preferably formed of sheet metal and is provided with a removable cover 3, which can be taken off to permit the inner holder 1 to be dropped into the outer holder. v The outer holder 2 on its forward wall is provided with a delivery opening 1, which at its lower edge is preferably provided with an outwardly-projecting lip 5 to facilitate the withdrawal of the seatcovers 8, as

will be described hereinafter. These seat covers are substantially of rectangular form, as illustrated in Fig. 4, but formed with a large U-shaped incision I, which forms a-ilapt which is adapted to be shoved down into the opening-of the toilet seat to assist in retaining the seat cover in position. The forward edge of each seat cover is formed into a tongue 9 with'a curved forward edge il.

In order'to improve the eihciency of the inner holder i, its forward wallis preferably provided with a weakened panel II, the outline I 4 of'which is partially cut through so as to an opening I! (see Fig. 3), which substantially registers with the aforesaid delivery'opening 4. In this way, when the inner holder has been put in position, the tongue I of the foremost seat cover in the pack will be exposed at the delivery opening 4 so as to facilitate its being seized to facilitate the withdrawal of the foremost seat cover.

In order to support the seat covers in the form of pack I I, I prefer to provide means for suspending the same at an elevated point. For this purpose, I may employ a cross-pin It (see Fig. 3), which passes through all of the seat covers and has its ends secured in-the forward and rear side 4 wells of the inner holder.

In Figs. 6 and I I illustrate another embodiment of the invention which has the advantage that it obviates the necessity for individually folding all of the seat covers before putting them into a pack. Informing the pack of seat covers in this way the tongues 24 will all be superposed upon each other, as illustrated .in Fig: 7, and they will all be located in the front opening 28 of the inner holder 18. In order to prevent the removal of the seat cover that has the foremost tongue 24 from dislodging any of the other seat covers in the pack, I prefer to provide the lower portion of the pack below the opening I with a cross-pin 21. This pin passes-through the pack from the front wall oftheholdertotherearwall, like thepln ll illustrated in Figs. 1 and 8. With this arrangement, it will be evident that by seizing the foremost tongue 24 and pulling it downwardly, tension will be exerted on the corresponding seat cover, which will be torn away from the pin TI and withdrawn through the opening 2 without I dislodginganyoftheother seatcoversofthe .facilitate its detachment from the wall to form pack It is understood'that the embodiment of the invention described herein is only one of the many embodiments this invention may take, and I do notwishtobelimitedinthepractice oftheinvention, nor in the claims, to the particular embodiment set forth.

What I claim is:

1. In a package of seat'covers of the kind described, the combination of a holder having a forward wall with a narrow delivery opening at the lower portion thereof, a plurality of seats covers formed of separate sheets, each sheet having a connected flap punched out from the same toform so anopeningtoiltovertheseatopening,means located at an elevated point in the holder, and passing through said flaps for suspending the covers in a folded state. within the said holder. eachcoverhavingatonguedisposedtowardthe at forward side of the holder with its edge located at a point considerably above the lower edge of said delivery opening, and enabling the tongue to be seized through the said opening in detaching the cover from the suspending means.

2. In an apparatus of the kind described, the combination of a holder in theform of an envelope of cardboard to be received within an outer holder and having a forward wall with a narrow opening in the lower portion thereof, a plurality ofseparatesanitary seatcoverscarriedinthe holder, eachcover having a folded edge at its upper end, means carried by the holder and passing through the folded edges of the seat covers for suspending thesaidcovers withintheholder, each of said covers having a tongue with its lower edgevisiblethroughsaidopeningsoastoenable the tongue to be seized through the said opening for detaching the cover-from the suspending means.
