Abstract
A handle grip provides a handle body, which is made of foam PU. The handle body has a central fitting hole for fitting with a handle section of a sports appliance such as golf club, tennis racket or badminton racket for obtaining a better effect while in use.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention is related to a handle grip and particularly to a light handle grip, which is made of foam PU, for being gripped comfortably and providing a property of excellent moisture absorption.
- 2. Brief Description of the Related Art
- Generally, rackets such as tennis racket and badminton racket have to be made with a specification in accordance with international regulations. In order to be competitive on the market, the designers endeavor to solve problems related to such as balancing specific weight, elasticity and twisting and try to improve technique related to arranging racket cords or designing handle grip. Nevertheless, the handle grip is the only place the user contacts and is the key point to control the racket. The user has to consider if the handle grip is suitable for holding while selecting a racket except personal physical ability and hitting ball/shuttlecock habit. If the handle grip is too plump, it is easy for the user becoming fatigue with less sensibility. If the handle grip is too slender, it is hard for the user to hold it tightly and, even more, it becomes loose to result in turned over racket in case of a heavy stroke being subjected. Besides, usually a high shock force is generated at the beginning stroke and it is easy to occur symptom of tennis elbow if the handle grip is designed and made improperly. Generally, the entire racket is made of wood to overcome the problem of balancing specific weight. However, the part of wooden handle grip is unable to meet requirements of comfort and moisture absorption. Although a band shaped thin strip is coiled on the part of wooden handle grip for offering comfort and absorbing sweater from the hand, actually organization of wood is not homogeneous and contains moisture inside. As a matter of fact, the wooden handle grip provides inconsistent and unbalanced weight, which affects effect of ball hitting. Further, most of the strip coiled around the wooden handle grip is made of leather and it is not suitable for shock and moisture absorptions. In addition, if the coiled strip is arranged with unequal pitches, it is uncomfortable for holding while in use.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , the conventional golf club includes aclub head 10 for hitting the ball, ahandle grip 11 and aclub member 12. Thehandle grip 11 usually is made of rubber with a central fitting hole to fit with the end of theclub member 12. In order to obtain better feeling of holding thehandle grip 11 and match habit of hitting ball, it is preferable that diameter of thehandle grip 11 is selected to fit personal hand size and too plump or tooslender handle grip 11 is not helpful for direction of hitting ball. Theclub head 10, thehandle grip 11 and theclub member 12 have a precise relationship of weight equilibrium in between such that the gross static weight and dynamic weight of the club are changed if any one of the preceding three parts is changed in weight. That is, distribution of weight for the three parts of a golf club has a certain proportion. The dynamic weight generated from a stroke of the club is heavier, theclub head 10 provides faster speed, force to hit the ball is greater and the ball travels farther distance. Under this circumference, requirement of hitting the ball precisely is stricter or the direction of hit ball is deviated. Most designers normally focus on value of the dynamic weight in spite of the precision of hitting ball being capable of being trained with practice. In order to increase the value of dynamic weight, they usually decrease weight of thehandle grip 11 by means of reducing thickness of the handle grip. But, it results in size of thehandle grip 11 is reduced and effect of shock absorption is degraded. Consequently, direction of the hit ball is affected due to the degraded effect of shock absorption. Besides, therubber handle grip 11 is easy to become wear out and lose feature of anti-slip and good elasticity at the surface thereof after using a long period of time. Even more, rubber provides heavier specific weight, which is unfavorable for increasing the dynamic weight. - An object of the present invention is to provide a handle grip, which is made of foam PU, with light weight, comfort for holding and good moisture absorption.
- The detail structure, the applied principle, the function and the effectiveness of the present invention can be more fully understood with reference to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective illustrating the conventional handle grip of a golf club; -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of a handle grip according to the present invention illustrating the handle grip for a golf club; -
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the second embodiment of a handle grip according to the present invention illustrating the handle grip for a racket; -
FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the handle grip for a golf club shown inFIG. 2 ; -
FIG. 5 is a plan view illustrating the handle grip shown inFIG. 3 associated with a tennis racket; -
FIG. 6 is a plan view illustrating the handle grip shown inFIG. 3 associated with a badminton racket; -
FIG. 7 is a perspective view of the third embodiment of a handle grip according to the present invention, illustrating decoration bands being provided on the handle grip for a golf club; -
FIG. 8 is a sectional view of the third embodiment of a handle grip shown inFIG. 7 ; -
FIG. 9 is a perspective view of the fourth embodiment of a handle grip according to the present invention, illustrating decoration bands being provided on the handle grip for a racket; and -
FIG. 10 is a plan view of the fourth embodiment of a handle grip shown inFIG. 9 . - Referring to
FIGS. 2 and 3 , a handle grip according to the present invention provides ahandle body 20, which is made of foam PU, Thehandle body 20 has afitting hole 21 at the center thereof for fitting with a sports appliance such as a golf club 30 shown inFIG. 4 , atennis racket 40 shown inFIG. 5 or abadminton racket 50 shown inFIG. 6 . - Foam PU is a shock absorption median with light weight. Besides, foam PU is capable of absorbing moisture moderately and has a property of volatility for moisture. Hence, the
handle body 20 offers users excellent performance of shock reduction, anti-slip and moisture absorption. - Referring to FIGS. 7 to 10, a plurality of
annular recesses 22 are disposed on thehandle body 20 in a way of equally spacing from each other or a spiral shaped recess is arranged on thehandle body 20. A plurality ofdecoration bands 23, which are made of cloth, leather or rubber, are set in the annular recesses and tied tightly to thehandle body 20 with a hook and loop fastener respectively. Alternatively, adecoration band 23, which is made of cloth, leather or rubber, is arranged to coil thehandle body 20 along thespiral recess 22 and tied tightly to thehandle body 20 with a hook and loop fastener. Because thedecoration bands 23 or thedecoration band 23 is attached to theannular recesses 22 or thespiral recess 22, problems such as loosening and sliding away are not possible to occur. Further, the decoration bands orband 23 enhances sense of beauty in addition to effects of anti-slip and shock reduction. - As the foregoing, it is appreciated that the
handle body 10 according to the present invention is suitable for being widely employed to the sports appliances such as golf club, tennis racket and badminton racket because it offers excellent effects while in use such as comfort of gripping and moisture absorption. - While the invention has been described with referencing to preferred embodiments thereof, it is to be understood that modifications or variations may be easily made without departing from the spirit of this invention, which is defined by the appended claims.
