- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- Commonly, as shown in
FIGS. 1-3 , aconventional broom 1 mainly includes abase 10 and ahandle 2. Thebase 10 is provided with awater wiper 11 fixed at one side, abrush 12 fixed at the other side, a linkingbase 13 fixed on the top provided with two pivotingears 14 at its two sides, tworecesses 15 respectively set at an outer side of each pivotingear 14 andplural locking grooves 16 provided in eachrecess 15, passing through thepivoting ears 14. Thehandle 2 connected to the linkingbase 13 is provided with two linkingplates 20 at the bottom, tworecesses 21 set respectively at a inner side of each linkingplate 20,plural locking grooves 22 installed in eachrecess 21, penetrating through each linkingplate 20 and facing correspondingly to thelocking grooves 16 in each pivotingear 14, twofixing base 23 set respectively in eachrecess 21 and provided respectively withlocking teeth 24 at one side for fitting in the 22 and 16, two pressinglocking grooves buttons 25 located respectively outside each pivotingear 14 and provided respectively with agroove 26 for fitting with aspring 27, and twocompressible shafts 28 respectively penetrating orderly through eachpressing button 25, thesprings 27, the pivotingears 14 and thefixing bases 23. - In using, a user has to press the
pressing buttons 25 and thecompressible shafts 28 simultaneously so as to push thefixing bases 23 inwards to squeeze thesprings 27 for unlocking thelocking teeth 24 from thelocking grooves 16 of thepivoting walls 14, and then, thehandle 2 is able to be rotated to adjust its desired angle and fixed stably by releasing thecompressible shafts 28 because thepressing buttons 25 and thecompressible shafts 28 are to be pushed back to their original positions and so are thefixing bases 23 pushed back to keep thelocking teeth 24 locked again in thelocking grooves 16 of thepivoting ears 14. But, if thepressing button 25 and thecompressible shaft 28 at one side of thehandle 2 are pressed only, thehandle 2 cannot be adjusted. That is, thepressing button 25 and thecompressible shafts 28 at two sides of thehandle 2 must be pressed simultaneously until thehandle 2 is turned for a wanted angle. It is very difficult for those with weak might to turn such ahandle 2. Therefore, the invention has been revised to overcome the defects mentioned above. - The objective of this invention is to offer a linking mechanism for a cleaning tool, enabling a handle adjusted for different angles conveniently and easily.

main base 31, as shown inFIG. 5 , is provided with alocking slot 32 at its two longitudinal sides respectively for fitting with thewater wiper 33 and thebrush 34 respectively. Eachfixing block 35 is fixed with two ends of themain base 31 respectively and screwed fixedly with themain base 31 by ascrew 36. In addition, themain base 31 is provided also withplural holes 37 forscrews 38 to pass to screw fixedly in the bottom of the linkingmember 4. - The linking
device 4 is composed of abottom base 40, anadjusting rotator 41, a supportingshaft 42, twofixing gears 43, twocompression springs 44, arotating button 45 and afixing base 46, as shown inFIG. 6 . Thebottom base 40 fixed on themain base 31 by thescrews 38 is provided with twoparallel fixing walls 400 respectively bored with a penetratinghole 401, andplural locking grooves 402 formed spaced around in an annular inner wall of the penetratinghole 401. The adjustingrotator 41 is fitted between thefixing walls 400 and fixed together with thehandle 30 at its top, provided with a penetratinghole 410 possessingplural locking grooves 411 spaced around in its annular inner wall, corresponding to thelocking grooves 402 of thebottom base 40. The supportingshaft 42 is fitted in the penetrating 401, 410 of theholes bottom base 40 and the adjustingrotator 41, provided with two insertingholes 420 in its two ends respectively and a guidingblock 421 protruding at the intermediate portion. One side of the guidingblock 421 is provided with twofixing grooves 422 located oppositely at the front and the rear side, and twoslopes 423 located oppositely in the half upper and the half lower portions and connected to thefixing grooves 422. The other side of the guidingblock 421 is provided with twofixing grooves 424 located oppositely at the top and the bottom, and twoslopes 425 located oppositely in the half front and the half rear portion and connected to thefixing grooves 424. Thefixing gears 43, fitted correspondingly in the penetrating 401, 410 of theholes bottom base 40 and the adjustingrotator 41 and mounted on the supportingshaft 42, are provided respectively with twoprojections 430 protruding vertically and oppositely on a circumference of the inner side for fitting in the 422 and 424 of the supportingfixing grooves shaft 42. Eachfixing gear 43 further hasplural locking teeth 431 on the outer surface for engaging with the 402, 411 of thelocking grooves bottom base 40 and the adjustingrotator 41, arecess 432 in the outer side and a penetratinghole 433. Each of thecompression springs 44 fit around two sides of the supportingshaft 42 respectively and confined in therecess 432 of eachfixing gear 43 with one end. The rotatingbutton 45 set in the one side of thebottom base 40 and fixed at one end of the supportingshaft 42 by ascrew 452 is provided with arecess 450 for fitting with one end of one of thecompression springs 44, and twoinserting bars 451 set inside therecess 450 for plugging into the insertingholes 420 in one end of the supportingshaft 42. Thefixing base 46 set in the other side of thebottom base 40 and fixed at the other end of the supportingshaft 42 by ascrew 462 is provided with arecess 460 for fitting with one end of theother compression spring 44, and twoinserting bars 461 set inside therecess 460 for plugging into the insertingholes 420 in the other end of the supportingshaft 42. - In using, as shown in
FIGS. 7, 8 and 9 turn the rotatingbutton 45 first to position horizontally, and by the time, theinserting bars 451 of the rotatingbutton 45 drive the supportingshaft 42 and thefixing base 46 to rotate successively. Then theprojections 430 of thefixing gears 43 on the supportingshaft 42 slide along the 423, 425 at two sides of the guidingslopes block 421 to fit in the 422 and 424, so that thefixing grooves fixing gears 43 are guided to move outwards to squeeze thecompression springs 44, enabling thelocking teeth 431 to disengage from thelocking grooves 411 of the adjustingrotator 41 and the adjustingrotator 41 to rotate freely, as shown inFIGS. 8 and 9 . Therefore, thehandle 30 can be adjusted for a desired angle. Next, turn again the rotatingbutton 45 to position vertically, as shown inFIG. 7 . By the time, the supportingshaft 42 and thefixing base 46 are driven to rotate simultaneously to disengage theprojections 430 of thefixing gears 43 from the 422 and 424 at two sides of the guidingfixing grooves block 421 and sliding along the 423 and 425, enabling theslopes fixing gears 43 to be pushed inwards by thecompression springs 44 to make thelocking teeth 431 engage again with thelocking grooves 411 of the adjustingrotator 41, keeping the adjustingrotator 41 fixed immovably. Therefore, the invention needs only one hand to turn the rotatingbutton 45 to release the linkingdevice 4 free for adjusting an angle of thehandle 30 and then fixed stably, convenient and easy for operation. - While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
