Abstract

A necklace comprising a primary strand and one or more secondary strands. The ends of the primary strand connect to the ends of each of the secondary strands by releasable connecting devices. The strands of the necklace are interchangeable allowing the wearer the ability to mix and match strands for enhanced usefulness. With the ends of the strands connected at two separate points, the wearer is able to connect the strands at a location other than the back of the neck adding enhanced operability.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention
The present invention relates generally to a method of making jewelry and specifically to a method of making necklaces. Particularly, the present invention relates to a method for making a necklace comprising one primary strand connected at each end by releasable connecting devices to the corresponding ends of one or more secondary strands.
2. Prior Art
Necklaces have been in existence for many years and are worn with many styles of apparel and necklaces have commonly been comprised of single strands, Prior Art FIG. 1 a, or multiple strands, Prior Art FIG. 1 b, with the ends of the strand or strands connected together at a single point by a releasable connecting device such as, but not limited to, a clasp which is commonly located at the back of the wearer's neck.
Necklaces are commonly selected to coordinate with the style of apparel being worn. The single point of connection limits the usefulness of each necklace as it requires the wearer to acquire different necklaces to coordinate with different styles of apparel. Additionally, locating the releasable connecting device at the back of the wearer's neck often makes it difficult for the wearer to operate the device.
Objects and Advantages
Accordingly, several objects and advantages of the present invention are:
(a) to provide a necklace comprising two parts, a primary strand and one or more secondary strands, to enhance the usefulness of the necklace;
(b) to provide a necklace which has two releasable connections which will not be located at the back of the wearer's neck and therefore will be less difficult for the wearer to operate;
(c) to provide enhanced usefulness of the necklace by providing the wearer with the opportunity to separately acquire each of the two parts of the necklace, each having its related components of each of the two releasable connecting devices;
(d) to provide the wearer with the ability to mix and match the two parts of the necklace thereby reducing the number of necklaces that must be acquired to coordinate with different styles of apparel;
(e) to provide the wearer with the ability to attach multiple secondary strands to a primary strand thereby increasing the number of possible combinations and further enhancing the usefulness of the necklace.
Further objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.

SUMMARY

In accordance with the present invention a necklace comprises a primary strand with two endpoints and one or more secondary strands each with two endpoints and each endpoint of the primary strand connecting to each endpoint of the secondary strands by releasable connecting devices.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION—PREFERRED EMBODIMENT—FIGURES

FIG. 1 a embodies a Prior Art necklace with a single strand 1 and a single releasable connecting device 2 which the wearer operates to engage or release the two ends of the strand.
FIG. 1 b embodies a Prior Art necklace with multiple strands 1, 2 and a single releasable connecting device 3 which the wearer operates to engage or release the two ends of both strands.
FIG. 2 embodies the present invention with one primary strand 1 and one secondary strand 2. One end of the primary strand 1 is engaged or released from one end of the secondary strand 2 by operating the releasable connecting device 3. The remaining end of the primary strand 1 is engaged or released from the remaining end of the secondary strand 2 by operating the releasable connecting device 4.
FIG. 3 embodies the present invention with one primary strand 1 and multiple secondary strands 2 a, 2 b. One end of the primary strand 1 is engaged or released from one end of each of the secondary strands 2 a, 2 b by operating the releasable connecting device 3. The remaining end of the primary strand 1 is engaged or released from the remaining ends of each of the secondary strands 2 a, 2 b by operating the releasable connecting device 4.

CONCLUSION, RAMIFICATIONS AND SCOPE

The particular elements shown in the drawings are for illustrative purposes only. In all of the embodiments of the present invention, the primary and secondary necklace strands may be comprised of any material of any length having any color, size, shape or other characteristic.
Similarly, in all of the embodiments of the present invention, the clasps shown may be replaced by any other suitable releasable connecting devices or other releasable forms of attachment.
From the foregoing, it can be seen that the present invention provides an improved necklace with a primary strand and one or more secondary strands allowing the wearer the ability to mix and match strands for enhanced usefulness. Additionally, with the ends of the strands connected at two separate points, the wearer is able to connect the strands at a location other than the back of the neck adding enhanced operability.
It is understood that the present invention is not limited to the particular embodiments disclosed and that the intention is to cover all modifications of the present invention which are within the scope and spirit of the present invention as defined by the claims of this present invention.

Claims

1. A necklace for encircling the neck of the body of the wearer, comprising:

(a) A primary strand of any material and any length with two endpoints

(b) One or more secondary strands of any material and any length with two endpoints, and

(c) A releasable means to connect one of the endpoints of said primary strand to one of the endpoints of each of said secondary strands and a second releasable means to connect the remaining endpoint of said primary strand to the remaining endpoint of said secondary strands whereby the connected said primary strand and said secondary strands can encircle said neck of said body of said wearer.
