Abstract
A cap to protect hair of a user includes a dome body to protect the hair and an elastic band attached to a periphery of the dome body.
Description
- The present application claims priority under 35 USC Section 119 based upon a provisional patent application Ser. No. 60/692,554 filed on Jun. 22, 2005.
- The present invention relates to caps and more particularly to a cap to cover and protect long hair.
- There has long been a need to cover and protect long hair. It has been found that short and long hair needs to be protected from lint, bugs, dirt and dust. Additionally, it has been found that short and long hair needs to be protected from the damaging effects of sunshine. More particularly, it is been found that there is a need to protect long hair from discoloration. There is additionally a need to keep long hair clean.
- The present invention is used to cover short and long hair and to protect this hair from lint, bugs, dirt and dust. In addition, the present invention protects hair from the effects of sunlight and protects hair from being discolored as a result of being exposed to sunlight and other hair damaging factors. The present invention keeps the hair clean.
- The present invention includes a cap which keeps moisture from leaving the scalp and hair of the user of the cap of the present invention. The present invention sustains micro braids and allows these micro braids to last longer. The cap of the present invention includes an elastic band for a tight fit between the head of the user and the cap. The cap of the present invention promotes healthier looking hair, and the cap of the present invention does not slip off the head of the user during sleep. Additionally, the cap of the present invention is good for sensitive skin and does not cause excessive sweating as a result of the fact that the cap of the present invention is breathable. The cap of the present invention keeps hair clean and protects the hair from discoloration. The cap of the present invention protects the hair from the sun and is form fitted to allow various lengths of hair to be covered. The cap of the present invention is stretchable which provides an advantage. More particularly, the stretchable cap of the present invention allows the cap to be molded to the head of the user providing an advantage from the stretchable and shapeable aspects of the cap. The cap of the present invention can be used during recreation such as motorcycle rides resulting in no adverse effects on the hair.
- The invention may be understood by reference to the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which, like reference numerals identify like elements, and in which:

FIG. 3 illustrates a cross-sectional view of the cap of the present invention. -
FIG. 1 illustrates thecap 100 which includes adome body 104 to cover the hair of the user. Thecap 100 includes anelastic band 102 which extends continuously around the periphery of thedome body 104.FIG. 1 additionally shows that thedome body 104 may extend further down on the head in order to cover the hair on the back of the head. Thedome body 104 approximately corresponds to the hairline of the user. Thedome body 104 includes aseam 106 which is shown inFIG. 1 as extending from front to back, dividing thedome body 104 into substantially equal halfs.FIG. 1 additionally illustrates that theelastic band 102 is positioned over the ears of the user.FIG. 2 illustratesdome body 204 having a more bulbous shape in order to accommodate longer hair.FIG. 3 illustrates thecap 100 shown without the user and thedome body 204 having a more bulbous shape. The 104, 204 includes a reduced diameter where thedome body 104, 204 is joined to thedome body elastic band 102. The dome body may be formed from stretchable polyester. The present invention can be used to cover short and long hair and to protect this hair from lint, bugs, dirt and dust. In addition, the present invention protects hair from the effects of sunlight and protects hair from being discolored as a result of being exposed to sunlight and other hair damaging factors. The present invention keeps the hair clean. - The present invention includes a
cap 100 which keeps moisture from leaving the scalp and hair of the user of thecap 100 of the present invention. The present invention sustains micro braids and allows these micro braids to last longer. Thecap 100 of the present invention includes an elastic band for a tight fit between the head of the user and thecap 100. Thecap 100 of the present invention promotes healthier looking hair, and the cap of the present invention does not slip off the head of the user during sleep. Additionally, thecap 100 of the present invention is good for sensitive skin and does not cause excessive sweating as a result of the fact that thecap 100 of the present invention is breathable. Thecap 100 of the present invention keeps hair clean and protects the hair from discoloration. The cap 100 f the present invention protects the hair from the sun and is form fitted to allow various lengths of hair to be covered. The cap of the present invention is stretchable which provides an advantage. More particularly, the stretchable cap of the present invention allows the cap to be molded to the head of the user providing an advantage from the stretchable and shapeable aspects of the cap. The cap of the present invention can be used during recreation such as motorcycle rides resulting in no adverse effects. Thecap 100 of the present invention can be used for extended periods of time such as 30 to 60 days. Thecap 100 can be slept in, used during showering, used during recreation and can itself be washed. Consequently, thecap 100 of the present invention can retain the same form, texture and shape. The cap of the present invention does not collect lint, the material does not pick, is comfortable and remains on a the head of the user. The advantage of the elastic band is that one size of thecap 100 fits all users, and protects the hair, leaving hair shiny. Thebulbous dome body 204 is sufficiently large, porous and flexible to accommodate a large quantity of hair comfortably. Thecap 100 may be made from fabric material, and is lightweight. Thecap 100 of the present invention is user-friendly. Thecap 100 is flexible in each direction consequently the dimensions are adjustable. The width of the elastic band can be increased for additional comfort. Thebulbous dome 204 can expand and contract in order to accommodate varying quantities of user hair. - While the invention is susceptible to various modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiments thereof have been shown by way of example in the drawings and are herein described in detail. It should be understood, however, that the description herein of specific embodiments is not intended to limit the invention to the particular forms disclosed.
Claims (11)
1. A cap to protect hair of a user, comprising:
a dome body to protect said hair;
an elastic band attached to a periphery of said dome body.
2. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein said dome body extends to a hairline of said user.
3. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein said dome body is stretchable.
4. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein said dome body is porous.
5. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein said dome body is breathable.
6. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein said dome body has a bold the shape to accept a quantity of said hair.
7. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein said elastic band will not scar the user.
8. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein said cap will not fall off during sleep.
9. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein the cap is washable.
10. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein the dome body is bulbous shaped.
11. A cap to protect hair of a user as in claim 1 , wherein the dome body is formed from polyester.
