Abstract
Provided is a sandal comprising a base comprising a forward through hole and two aligned through holes at either side, and a strap comprising a projecting enlargement at a forward end and a fork including two rear bifurcations each having two projecting enlargements at its both ends. The enlargements are fastened in the through holes. The sandal has increased structural strength.
Description
- 1. Field of Invention
- The present invention relates to sandals and more particularly to such a sandal with increased structural strength and thus increased useful life.
- 2. Related Art
- A conventional sandal is shown in
FIGS. 1 and 2 . The sandal comprises abase 20 including a forward throughhole 21 and two aligned throughholes 22 at either side, and a Y-shaped strap including aprojecting enlargement 100 at a forward end of itsforward shank 10 and two alignedprojecting enlargements 110 at either rear end of itsfork 11. The 100 and 110 are adapted to insert into and fasten in the throughenlargements 21 and 22 respectively by gluing or any other method known in the art.holes - However, the previous design suffered from a disadvantage. For example, force exerted by the foot mainly concentrates on the
fork 11 when a wearer lifts his/her foot. This inevitably will decrease a useful life of the sandal. Thus, the need for improvement still exists. - It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a sandal with increased structural strength and thus increased useful life.
- The above and other objects of the present invention are realized by providing a sandal comprising a base comprising a forward through hole and two aligned through holes at either side; and a strap comprising a projecting enlargement at a forward end and a fork including two rear bifurcations each having two projecting enlargements at its both ends; wherein the enlargements are fastened in the through holes.
- The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a conventional sandal; -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the assembled sandal inFIG. 1 ; -
FIG. 3 is an exploded view of a preferred embodiment of sandal according to the invention; and -
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the assembled sandal inFIG. 3 . - Referring to
FIGS. 3 and 4 , there is shown a sandal constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention. The sandal comprises abase 20 including a forward throughhole 21 and two aligned throughholes 22 at either side, and a strap including aprojecting enlargement 100 at a forward end of itsforward shank 10 and twoprojecting enlargements 110 at both ends of abifurcation 12 at either rear portion of itsfork 11. The 100 and 110 are adapted to insert into and fasten in the throughenlargements 21 and 22 respectively.holes - Advantageously, force exerted by the foot substantially evenly distributes among the
fork 11 and thebifurcations 12 when a wearer lifts his/her foot. This has the benefits of not only increasing structural strength of the sandal but also increasing its useful life. - While the invention herein disclosed has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims.
