Abstract

The invention is an elevated heat resistant wrapper headband that is placed just before the wearer's hairline to protect the forehead, temple, face, eyes, ears, and neck from heat that comes from hair drying devices. The device is constructed with a thin three inch flexible extended formed material which protects the wearer from heat from hair drying devices. The device is designed for comfort and fits securely on the wearer's head using an adjustable hook and loop closure.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

This invention relates to skin protective devices that protects the sensitive skin areas of individuals' forehead, face, eyes, ears, and the back of the neck from overexposure to heat that comes from hair drying devices for hair care.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The heat protective device was invented to protect and comfort the individual's sensitive skin areas below the hairline.
After experiencing my own hair irritation and discomforts from excessive heat from blow dryers, I was deeply concerned for other individuals who used hair-drying devices and began to work on an invention that would prevent such irritations.
During a period of research, I found out by dermatologists that it could cause irritations such as moisture from the skin, cracking of the skin, and dryness to the cornea.
There is a desire; therefore, this device would minimize the irritations and discomfort that comes from hair drying devices. More importantly, the individual wearing the device will feel more secure knowing that their face is protected. The device also should be economical, simple, easy to use, machine washable, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.
In my research, I also found other inventions similar to mine; however, they only protect forehead, temple, ears, and neck. For example Lyons Appls. # 451561 and # U.S. Pat. No. 5,423,091, Simpson, Timothy filed 1997 U.S. Pat. No. 5,867,834 only protects only forehead, temple, ears, and neck. Lange, Susan Appl. # 310436 filed Sep. 22, 1994 is a flat instead of elevated that protects the wearers sensitive areas from falling objects or running solutions, none of which did not protect the sensitive areas from the heat waves in which the present invention does. The aforementioned inventions did not protect the eyes to prevent dryness to the cornea nor did their devices protect the skin from dehydration that comes from heat waves that absorbs the natural moisture from the skin. This invention was structured to prevent such irritations with its three and one half inch outward elevated sturdy form that pushes the heat waves from the persons face and neck, which makes this device more healthy and beneficial.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a thin elevated wrapper headband that extends outward just below the hairline for protecting the face from irritations that comes from hair drying devices. The device includes a face-protecting layer and an underlying material layer.

- 2. I have invented a device to protect the wearer from injury to the skin adjacent to the hairline from hair drying devices.
- 3. Other features of the present invention will become apparent upon review of the following detailed description of the embodiments when in conjunction with the drawing and appended claim.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

The wrapper headband is sized to fit securely around the individual's head and structured to fit any size head accordingly. The wrapper width is three and one-half inches wide and the length is twenty-six (26) inches long. This device is flexible and easy to put on and take off with Velcro fastening, which also allows the device to also be useful for children.
FIG. 1 shows the extended elevated device 18 structure that is placed just below the hairline leaving hair visible for drying and also protecting the forehead, temple, eyes, face, ears, and neck from excessive heat waves that come from mechanical hair dryers.
As shown in FIG. 1A the wrapper device 18 has a strip of Velcro on each end of 12 and 14, this allows the headband to have adjustability for fitting different head shapes and sizes. Velcro is very easy to fasten and unfasten making it easier for the wearer.
FIG. 2 is constructed with cotton blend fabric on outer layer 22 and 80% cotton and 20% polyester cotton batting on the middle layer 24 for softness which also surrounds the third layer 26 for padding to the polyethylene which allows the cotton material to protrude outwardly allowing the heat waves to protrude away from the forehead, temple, eyes, ears, and face and the back of the neck.
FIGS. 3 and 30 illustrates device 18 structured with durable quilted thread to tighten the inner and outer edges allowing the edges to decrease in size forming a thin structure of 1/16 of an inch causing the device to fit around the wearer without causing discomfort or messing up the hair.

Claims

1. A device that is designed to protect a person wearing it, from heat waves and dehydration to the skin, adjacent from the hairline during hair drying. The device consists of a flexible flat sturdy material that is in an elevated form. The device is placed securely around the wearer's head, without interfering with the hair. The device has an outward width of 3 to 4 inches, an outer and inner edge thickness of 1/16 of an inch, and a length of 18 to 24 inches. The device consists of a soft cotton blend material, covered with a flat colorful material. The device consists of a fibrous material.

2. The device in the claim 1 consists of entire heat insulating materials.

3. The device in the claim 1 consists of elevated sturdy and flexible material that protects the entire sensitive parts below the hairline from heat waves that causes dehydration and discoloration.

4. The device in claim 1 has a strip of material for fastening the ends of the device together.

5. The material in claim four (4), of the device claimed has fastening means comprised of hooks and loops at the end of the strip of material.

6. The device in claim 1 consists of entire layers of heat resistant materials.

7. The device in the claim 1 consists of a durable fibrous quilting thread that tightly stitches together the material of the device preventing slipping or tearing that could interfere with the protection of the eyes from heat waves, the extreme comfort, and the wearer's visibility, by causing a decrease in the inner thickness edge of 1/16 of an inch.
