Abstract

A shot shell cartridge holding device, having a tensioned channel with protruding lips (1A) that grip and hold the cartridge rim. Inside the channel is a filler block (FIG. 2) to prevent the shell from sitting to deep within the channel. On one end of the filler block is a protrusion (2C) that prevents the cartridges from sliding all the way through the channel. Assembled in this configuration the shot shell cartridge holder can be mounted a variety of platforms allowing the user to carry and quickly access shot shell cartridges.

  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION—FIELD OF INVENTION
  • This invention relates to a device for holding a quantity of firearm shotgun cartridges allowing easy and fast access for the shooter.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • There are a variety of shotgun cartridge holders available to the shotgun shooter. The improvement recognized in this invention is that the shotgun cartridges are captured in the holder by a smaller area of the shotgun cartridge thereby leaving the maximum amount of the shotgun cartridge exposed. This is an improvement over other shotgun cartridge holders due the decreased interference the shotgun cartridge holder offers the shooter while in the act of retrieving shotgun cartridge from said holder. The decreased interference allows a more positive grip on one or more shotgun cartridges thereby making it less likely for the user to loose control of the shells once pulled from the holder. This improvement also makes the act of retrieving shotgun cartridges for a reload faster due the reduced interference.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION—OBJECTS AND ADVANTAGES
  • The Shot Gun Cartridge Holder offers a variety of advantages over other types of cartridge holders.
  • These advantages are:
      • (a) decreased contact area of the cartridge retained by the cartridge holder;
      • (b) easier access to one or more cartridges for user;
      • (c) can be mounted to a variety of platforms for carrying and using;
      • (d) ambidextrous for right or left handed user
    BREIF SUMMARY OF INVENTION
  • The “Shotgun Cartridge Holder” retains a multiple of shotgun cartridges by means of spring tension giving the user a way to store and carry a multiple of shotgun cartridges while offering a less restricted access to the cartridges. This cartridge holding device may be attached to a variety of bracket platforms allowing it to be mounted on the users belt, firearm or other locations.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Shotgun cartridge holder comprising: Gripper Channel FIG. 1, a length of flexible resilient plastic including two holes 2A for mounting to a variety of platform types. Filler Block FIG. 2, a length of semi-rigid plastic machined to shape as shown, including holes 2A for mounting (matching on center dimensions of the mounting holes on the gripper channel). Hole 2B is supplied for mounting the shell stop post 2C. Shell stop post is a length of rigid plastic tubing. Assembly of the Shotgun cartridge holder requires the Filler Block to be installed into the Gripper Channel and positioned so the mounting holes of each piece are alignment allowing mounting screws to be inserted through the Gripper Channel and threaded into the Filler Block. The mounting screws may also be passed through a mounting platform before passing through the Gripper Channel and threaded into the Filler Block thereby offering a means to mount the shotgun cartridge holder to a platform for belt, firearm or other desired location mounting.
  • The shotgun cartridge holder may be used by attaching to a person's belt FIG. 4 or firearm FIG. 5. Having this holder mounted as mentioned gives the user the means for holding and keeping at easy access a quantity of shot shells to facilitate quick reloading of a firearm. To use, shotgun cartridges are slid into the space between the filler block and the gripper channel lips FIG. 3.The shotgun cartridge is a larger dimension than the opening at the lips, 1A of the gripper channel. Said dimensional difference creates tension on the shotgun cartridge(s) when slid into the lips thereby holding the shotgun cartridge(s) in the holder. The dimension between the lips of the gripper channel may vary to accommodate smaller or larger gauge shotgun cartridges.

Claims (1)

1. A shotgun cartridge holding device comprising:
(a) resilient material forming a U-shaped trough of a specific length,
(b) said trough having parallel opposing ledges projecting over trough space,
(c) a filler block of rigid material,
(d) said filler block sized specifically to control the dimension of said U-shaped trough,
(e) said filler block having integral or attached protrusion which will act as a stop to prevent shotgun cartridges from passing through and out of said trough,
whereby when said filler block is inserted into said U-shaped trough creating a cartridge holder of which the tension created by the resilient material used in said trough is controlled to offer optimum shotgun cartridge holding tension,
whereby a shotgun cartridge is held by said cartridge holder offering maximum exposure of said cartridge offering minimal cartridge access interference,
whereby when said cartridge holder is used with one of various belt or firearm mounting platforms said cartridge holder offers fast and easy access for reloading a shotgun.
