Abstract

A covered pressing board top includes a board covered with layers of padding and a final layer of fabric on the top. The invention is to have more surface space for pressing and to improve pressing performance. To improve the pressing performance, a vapor barrier is provided between the pressing board and the layers of padding. The pressing board top may be made of composite members.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to an ironing board top with attached ironing board cover set which includes an ironing board outer cover and pads beneath the ironing board outer cover. This invention also relates to an ironing board top with such an ironing board cover set, and to an ironing board stand using such an ironing board top, and an ironing board tote bag using such an ironing board top and ironing board stand. Pressing any piece of clothes or fabric that is larger than the standard ironing board is a most unpleasant task. With one end of the ironing board wider than the other end, the fabric is needed to be adjusted and readjusted many times in order to press a small portion of the fabric. This is especially true for seamstresses that are making quilts, curtains, tablecloths, and other large items. [0001]
  • The object of the present invention is to provide a rectangular pressing board that will assist in the ease of pressing large pieces of fabric with little or no hassle. The present invention is able to be placed atop of most standard ironing boards. [0002]
  • With the sewing of many different items, pressing the seams and/or smaller pieces of fabric, is a repetitive and constant process, which induces the seamstress to be getting up and down from their sewing machine, and back and forth to the ironing board. [0003]
  • The present invention is to also provide a portable covered pressing board that may be placed on the present invention pressing board stand, which may be placed next to the seamstress while sewing. The present invention portable covered pressing board may also be placed on a table or countertop. [0004]
  • With the many number of classes and retreats offered, the present invention also provides a covered pressing board tote bag, for ease of carrying the said portable covered pressing board inside and for carrying the portable pressing board stand on the outside. The said covered pressing board tote bag also provides large inside pockets. [0005]
  • Such a covered pressing board makes enhanced ironing performance possible. [0006]
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • According to the present invention, the above object is coated with a vapor barrier, which prevents heat and steam from absorbing into the pressing board, to help prevent the pressing board from warping or rotting. The layers of padding are layered on top of the treated pressing board, which gives padding, but also radiates the heat back up to the fabric, helping to press the fabric in a more efficient manner. The vapor barrier layer is layered on top of the padding for adding more padding and also to absorb the moisture, creating a softer, thicker surface to iron on. The final layer is made of strong colorful fabric that has been treated with a protective coating to help prevent staining, and can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth. The design of the previously known ironing boards is recognized by its shape of one end of the board tapered to a smaller rounded end. This invention has eliminated the rounded end and makes the ironing board a rectangular shape, adding more ironing surface for table cloths, curtains, quilt tops and bottoms, large quantities of fabric, and much more. [0007]
  • The present invention also relates to an pressing board top according to the invention and a pressing board top having a pressing board cover set according to the invention. The present invention also relates to the pressing boards top having the pressing board cover set according to the invention and/or the pressing board stand according to the invention. The present invention also relates to a portable pressing board top having the pressing board cover set that can be placed on the pressing board stand and/or a pressing board tote bag that may be used with the portable pressing board top and pressing board stand according to the invention. [0008]
  • Exemplary embodiments of the invention will be described in detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.[0009]
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become clear from reading the descriptions below with reference to the attached drawings, wherein: [0010]
  • FIG. 1 is a top view of a pressing board or portable pressing board to provide that the pressing board to be rectangular is shape, in accordance with the invention. [0011]
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom view of a pressing board or portable pressing board, displaying the two attached material, one on each side of the pressing board, placed on the longer sides of the rectangle. [0012]
  • FIG. 3 is a side view of the pressing board or portable pressing board, displaying the longer side of the pressing board rectangle shape. [0013]
  • FIG. 4 is a end view of the pressing board or portable pressing board, displaying the shorter side of the pressing board rectangle shape. [0014]
  • FIG. 5 is a inner view of the pressing board or portable pressing board layered covers, displayed from an end view. [0015]
  • FIG. 6 is a side view of the portable pressing board stand, used to hold the portable pressing board. [0016]
  • FIG. 7 is an angled view of the portable pressing board stand, used to hold the portable pressing board. [0017]
  • FIG. 8 is a top view of the portable pressing board stand, used to hold the portable pressing board. [0018]
  • FIG. 9 is the outside view of the tote bag, used to carry the portable pressing board inside and to carry the portable pressing board stand on the outside. [0019]
  • FIG. 10 is the inside view of the tote bag, displaying the large inside pockets, and used to carry the portable pressing board inside and to carry the portable pressing board stand on the outside. [0020]
