Abstract

A sink drainer system for inhibiting debris in dishwater from clogging the drain when the dishwater is drained from a sink. The sink drainer system includes a plurality of body members, each comprising a perimeter wall. One of the body members is designed for being positioned over a drain in the sink when a user is washing dishes. The perimeter wall comprises a plurality of apertures extending through the perimeter wall whereby the apertures are designed for permitting water to drain through the perimeter wall and into the drain of the sink while the debris in the water is inhibited from entering the drain by the perimeter wall.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention [0001]
  • The present invention relates to drain strainers and more particularly pertains to a new sink drainer system for inhibiting debris in dishwater from clogging the drain when the dishwater is drained from a sink. [0002]
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art [0003]
  • The use of drain strainers is known in the prior art. U.S. Pat. No. 4,134,162 describes a device for selectively blocking water from draining from a sink and straining the debris from the water when the water is allowed to drain from the sink. Another type of drain strainer is U.S. Pat. No. 4,134,162 having a drainer strainer with a vacuum cup that is positioned over a drain to inhibit large items from draining into the drain. U.S. Pat. No. 3,982,289 has a disposable sink strainer that is inserted into the drain to strain debris from the water being drained from the sink. U.S. Pat. No. Des. 275,315 shows a disposal strainer. [0004]
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a new sink drainer system that can fit a variety of drains having different diameters. [0005]
  • Even still another object of the present invention is to provide a new sink drainer system that has a body member that is easily stacked with other body members. [0006]
  • To this end, the present invention generally comprises a plurality of body members, each comprising a perimeter wall. One of the body members is designed for being positioned over a drain in the sink when a user is washing dishes. The perimeter wall comprises a plurality of apertures extending through the perimeter wall whereby the apertures are designed for permitting water to drain through the perimeter wall and into the drain of the sink while the debris in the water is inhibited from entering the drain by the perimeter wall.   • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto. [0008]
  • The objects of the invention, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure. [0009]

  • The invention will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein: [0010]

  • FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a plurality of body members of the present invention stacked.[0014]
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new sink drainer system embodying the principles and concepts of the present invention and generally designated by the [0015] reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the [0016] sink drainer system 10 generally comprises a plurality of body members 11, each comprising a perimeter wall 12. One of the body members 11 is designed for being positioned over a drain in the sink when a user is washing dishes. The perimeter wall 12 comprises a plurality of apertures 13 extending through the perimeter wall 12 whereby the apertures 13 are designed for permitting water to drain through the perimeter wall 12 and into the drain of the sink while the debris in the water is inhibited from entering the drain by the perimeter wall 12. The body members 11 may be made of a plastic material or a paper material coated to be water proof. The body member has a height of about 1¼ inches, an upper diameter of about 3⅛ inches and lower diameter of about 2¼ inches.
  • The [0017] perimeter wall 12 defines an interior space 14 of the associated one of the of the body members 11. The perimeter wall 12 comprises a top edge 15 whereby the top edge 15 of the perimeter wall 12 defines an open end 16 of the associated one of the body members 11. The open end 16 is designed for permitting water and debris to enter the interior space 14 of the associated one of the body members 11 when the associated one of the body members 11 is positioned in the drain of the sink.
  • The [0018] perimeter wall 12 of each of the body members 11 comprises a bottom wall 17. The apertures 13 extend through the bottom wall 17 of the perimeter wall 12 of the associated one of the body members 11 whereby the perimeter wall 12 of the associated one of the body members 11 is designed for containing the debris when the water flows through the apertures 13 in the bottom wall 17 of the associated one of the body members 11.
  • The [0019] perimeter wall 12 of each of the body members 11 comprises a side wall 18. The side wall 18 angularly extends from the bottom wall 17 to the top edge 15 of the perimeter wall 12 whereby the side wall 18 tapers inwardly from the top edge 15 of the perimeter wall 12 to the bottom wall 17 of the perimeter wall 12. The side wall 18 is designed for engaging sides of the drain in the sink whereby the associated one of the body members 11 is positioned in the drain of the sink.
  • The [0020] perimeter wall 12 of each of the body members 11 comprises a riser portion 19. The riser portion 19 extends upwardly from the bottom wall 17 of the perimeter wall 12. The riser portion 19 is designed for being gripped by fingers of the user for facilitating moving of the associated one of the body members 11. The riser portion 19 has a height of about 1 inch.
  • The [0021] riser portion 19 of the perimeter wall 12 of each of the body members 11 defines a receiving space 20. The receiving space 20 selectively receives the riser portion 19 of an adjacent one of the body members 11 whereby the body members 11 are stackable to facilitate storage of the body members 11.
  • In use, the user grips the [0022] riser portion 19 of a top one of the body members 11 in a stack of body members 11. The user then places the body member over the drain in the sink so that the side wall 18 of the perimeter wall 12 the associated one of the body members 11 abuts the sides if the drain in the sink. The apertures 13 permit the water in the sink to flow into the drain while the perimeter wall 12 captures the debris in the water and inhibits it from entering the drain and clogging the drain. When the user is done doing the dishes the user may dispose of the debris in the interior space 14 and reuse the associated one of the body members 11 or throw the associated one of the body members 11 away.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.   • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention. Claims (7)

I claim:
1. A sink drainer system for staining debris from dishwater draining from a sink, the sink drainer system comprising:
each of a plurality of body members comprising a perimeter wall, one of said body members being adapted for being positioned over a drain in the sink when a user is washing dishes, said perimeter wall comprising a plurality of apertures extending through said perimeter wall such that said apertures are adapted for permitting water to drain through said perimeter wall and into the drain of the sink while the debris in the water is inhibited from entering the drain by said perimeter wall.
2. The sink drainer system as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
said perimeter wall defining an interior space of the associated one of said of said body members, said perimeter wall comprising a top edge such that said top edge of said perimeter wall defines an open end of the associated one of said body members, said open end being adapted for permitting water and debris to enter said interior space of the associated one of said body members when the associated one of said body members is positioned in the drain of the sink.
3. The sink drainer system as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
said perimeter wall of each of said body members comprising a bottom wall, said apertures extending through said bottom wall of said perimeter wall of the associated one of said body members such that said perimeter wall of the associated one of said body members is adapted for containing the debris when the water flows through said apertures in said bottom wall of the associated one of said body members.
4. The sink drainer system as set forth in claim 3, further comprising:
said perimeter wall of each of said body members comprising a side wall, said side wall angularly extending from said bottom wall to a top edge of said perimeter wall such that said side wall tapers inwardly from said top edge of said perimeter wall to said bottom wall of said perimeter wall, said side wall being adapted for engaging sides of the drain in the sink such that the associated one of said body members is positioned in the drain of the sink.
5. The sink drainer system as set forth in claim 3, further comprising:
said perimeter wall of each of said body members comprising a riser portion, said riser portion extending upwardly from said bottom wall of said perimeter wall, said riser portion being adapted for being gripped by fingers of the user for facilitating moving of the associated one of said body members.
6. The sink drainer system as set forth in claim 5, further comprising:
said riser portion of said perimeter wall of each of said body members defining a receiving space, said receiving space selectively receiving said riser portion of an adjacent one of said body members such that said body members are stackable to facilitate storage of said body members.
7. A sink drainer system for staining debris from dishwater draining from a sink, the sink drainer system comprising:
each of a plurality of body members comprising a perimeter wall, one of said body members being adapted for being positioned over a drain in the sink when a user is washing dishes, said perimeter wall comprising a plurality of apertures extending through said perimeter wall such that said apertures are adapted for permitting water to drain through said perimeter wall and into the drain of the sink while the debris in the water is inhibited from entering the drain by said perimeter wall;
said perimeter wall defining an interior space of the associated one of said of said body members, said perimeter wall comprising a top edge such that said top edge of said perimeter wall defines an open end of the associated one of said body members, said open end being adapted for permitting water and debris to enter said interior space of the associated one of said body members when the associated one of said body members is positioned in the drain of the sink;
said perimeter wall of each of said body members comprising a bottom wall, said apertures extending through said bottom wall of said perimeter wall of the associated one of said body members such that said perimeter wall of the associated one of said body members is adapted for containing the debris when the water flows through said apertures in said bottom wall of the associated one of said body members;
said perimeter wall of each of said body members comprising a side wall, said side wall angularly extending from said bottom wall to said top edge of said perimeter wall such that said side wall tapers inwardly from said top edge of said perimeter wall to said bottom wall of said perimeter wall, said side wall being adapted for engaging sides of the drain in the sink such that the associated one of said body members is positioned in the drain of the sink;
said perimeter wall of each of said body members comprising a riser portion, said riser portion extending upwardly from said bottom wall of said perimeter wall, said riser portion being adapted for being gripped by fingers of the user for facilitating moving of the associated one of said body members; and
said riser portion of said perimeter wall of each of said body members defining a receiving space, said receiving space selectively receiving said riser portion of an adjacent one of said body members such that said body members are stackable to facilitate storage of said body members.
