Abstract
A chair arm in the invention includes an arm body having a base provided with two recesses in two opposite sidewalls of the base, a mounting seat having a stop plate provided with a raised face at one sidewall of the stop plate and corresponding to one of the recesses, and a cover. The raised face can be fitted into one of the recesses and firmly screwed with the base by screw members. After the cover is closed on the other sidewall of the base, a left or right chair arm of the invention is assembled together and can be fixed at a left or right side of a chair seat by having the other side of the mounting seat fastened at the chair seat. Therefore, only one mold is adapted for the left and right chair arms, thereby reducing the costs in producing two molds and providing easy assemblage.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- This invention relates to a chair arm, particularly to one having a base provided with two recesses respectively disposed in two opposite sidewalls of the base for being selectively assembled with one side of a mounting seat to form a left or right chair arm for being fixed at a left or right side of a chair seat by having the other side of the mounting seat fastened at the chair seat so that only one mold of the chair arm is adapted for left and right chair arms, thereby reducing the costs in producing two molds and providing easy assemblage.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- Generally speaking, a known
conventional chair arm 10 integrally formed, as shown in FIG. 1, has asupport 11 disposed at a lower portion thereof and provided with a plurality of through holes for being firmly screwed on one sidewall of a chair back by a plurality ofscrew members 12, and twomounting plates 13 disposed on a bottom thereof and also provided with a plurality of through holes for being firmly screwed at a bottom of one side of a chair seat by a plurality ofscrew members 12. In such way, left and rightconventional chair arms 10 are capable of being respectively fixed on both sides of a chair. However, the left and rightconventional chair arms 10 are integrally formed in two opposite configurations so that it is necessary to produce two molds for the left andright chair arms 10, thus increasing the costs in producing molds. - The main purpose of the invention is to offer a chair arm adapted to be fixed at a right or left side of a chair seat so that only one mold of the chair arm is adapted for left and right chair arms, thereby reducing the costs in producing two molds and providing easy assemblage.
- The main feature of the invention is to provide a chair arm mainly including:
- an arm body having a base located at a lower portion thereof and provided with two polygonal recesses respectively disposed in two opposite sidewalls of the base, a plurality of through holes disposed in an interior of the base and extending through the base in communication with the two opposite polygonal recesses, and a plurality of screw members capable of extending through the plurality of through holes;
- a mounting seat capable of being combined with one of the two sidewalls of the base of the arm body and having a stop plate disposed at one side thereof and provided with a polygonal raised face disposed at one sidewall of the stop plate and corresponding to one of the two opposite polygonal recesses of the base of the arm body; and,
- a cover capable of being closed on the other one of the two sidewalls of the base of the arm body.
- This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a known conventional chair arm;
- FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of a chair arm in the present invention;
- FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the chair arm in the present invention, showing a mounting seat assembled with one sidewall of a base of an arm body;
- FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the chair arm in the present invention, showing the mounting seat assembled with one sidewall of the base of the arm body; and,
- FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of the chair arm in the present invention, showing the mounting seat assembled with the other sidewall of the base of the arm body.
- A preferred embodiment of a chair arm in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, mainly includes an
arm body 2, amounting seat 3, and acover 4. - The
arm body 2 has abase 20 located at a lower portion thereof and provided with twopolygonal recesses 21 respectively disposed in two opposite sidewalls of thebase 20, a plurality of throughholes 23 and aninsert hole 22 both disposed in an interior of thebase 20 and extending through thebase 20 in communication with the two oppositepolygonal recesses 21, and a plurality ofscrew members 24 capable of extending through the plurality of throughholes 23. - The
mounting seat 3 capable of being screwed with one of the two sidewalls of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 has astop plate 30 disposed at one side thereof and provided with a polygonal raisedface 31 protruded on an outer sidewall of thestop plate 30 and corresponding to one of the two oppositepolygonal recesses 21 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2. The polygonal raisedface 31 is provided with a plurality ofscrew holes 32. - The
cover 4 capable of being closed on the other one of the two sidewalls of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 has apost 40 disposed therein and provided with aninsert rod 41 whose diameter is a little larger than that of theinsert hole 22 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2. - In assembling, when a left chair arm of the present invention is to be assembled, referring to FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, firstly fit the polygonal raised
face 31 of themounting seat 3 into thepolygonal recess 21 disposed in a right sidewall of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 with the polygonal raisedface 31 correspondingly fitted with thepolygonal recesses 21 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 so that themounting seat 3 is capable of being limited on the right sidewall of thebase 20 of thearm body 2. Secondly, respectively extend the plurality ofscrew members 24 through the plurality of throughholes 23 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 to be firmly screwed in the plurality ofscrew holes 32 of the polygonal raisedface 31 of themounting seat 3. Finally, close thecover 4 on a left sidewall of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 by having theinsert rod 41 of thecover 4 tightly inserted into theinsert hole 22 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2. Since the diameter of theinsert rod 41 of thecover 4 is a little larger than that of theinsert hole 22 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2, theinsert rod 41 of thecover 4 and theinsert hole 22 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 can be tightly fitted together so as to make thecover 4 firmly closed on the left sidewall of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 without worry of coming loose, by which the left chair arm of the present invention is assembled all together and the assembled left chair arm is capable of being fixed at a left side of a chair seat by having the other side of themounting seat 3 fastened at the left side of the chair seat. - When a right chair arm of the present invention is to be assembled, referring to FIG. 5, it is only necessary to exchange the positions of the
mounting seat 3 and thecover 4 so as to be contrary to those as combined in the left chair arm. Firstly, fit the polygonal raisedface 31 of themounting seat 3 into thepolygonal recess 21 disposed in the left sidewall of thebase 20 of thearm body 2. Secondly, firmly screw the polygonal raisedface 31 of themounting seat 3 in leftpolygonal recess 21 of thebase 20 of thearm body 2 by the plurality ofscrew members 24. Finally, close thecover 4 on the right sidewall of thebase 20 of thearm body 2, by which the right chair arm of the present invention is assembled all together and the assembled right chair arm is capable of being fixed at a right side of the chair seat by having the other side of themounting seat 3 fastened at the right side of the chair seat. The chair arm of the present invention is designed only with one single configuration, but is capable of exchanging its left and right assembling methods for being firmly fixed at the left or right side of the chair seat. Therefore, only one mold of the chair arm is adapted for the left and right chair arms, thereby reducing the costs in producing two molds and providing easy assemblage. - While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
