Abstract
A sheet with weight preventing the leakage of rainwater with easy operation. The sheet with weight comprises a sheet portion and a weight mounted along an edge of said sheet portion. The sheet may be accommodated in a cylindrical portion integrally formed along the edge of the sheet portion, and the weight can be a metal chain.
Description
- The present application claims priority to Japanese Utility Model Application No. 2001-1949 entitled SHEET WITH WEIGHT filed on Apr. 6, 2001.
- (Not Applicable)
- The present invention relates to a sheet with weight, and more particularly to a sheet with weight preferably used for a roof of a house broken by an earthquake or the like.
- In case that a roof of a house is broken due to an earthquake or the like, the broken portion is usually covered by a plastic sheet or the like to prevent the leakage of rainwater. Since merely covering the broken portion by the sheet allows the sheet to be blown away due to wind, sand bags or the like are put on the sheet.
- With the above-mentioned conventional method, however, the portions without sand bags blow hard in wind, and rainwater enters from these portions into the house. In order to prevent leakage, it is possible to stick the sheet fast to the surface of the roof without a gap utilizing string, adhesive tape and so on. But, in this case, scaffolding or the like is necessary, and it takes a long time to cover the broken portion with the sheet.
- It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a sheet with weight to prevent the leakage of rainwater or the like with easy operation.
- To accomplish the above objective, the sheet with weight according to the present invention comprises: a sheet portion; and a weight mounted along an edge of said sheet portion. With the above sheet with weight, only transporting the sheet to the place where the sheet is used and spreading it at the place allows the overall or partial edge of the sheet to be stuck fast to the place, which prevents the leakage of rainwater or the like.
- In the sheet described above, the weight can be accommodated in a cylindrical portion integrally formed of the edge of the sheet portion. It is very convenient to form the weight so as to be replaceable from the cylindrical portion.
- In the sheet described above, the weight can be produced by a metal chain, which makes it possible to construct the sheet using ordinarily used metal.
- The present invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:
- FIGS. 1A and 1B are a partially sectional plan view and a sectional view observed from the line A-A; and
- FIG. 2 is a schematic perspective view showing a usage of the sheet with weight illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 1B.
- Now, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be explained with reference to the drawings.
- FIGS. 1A and 1B show a sheet with a weight (hereinafter referred to as the “sheet”) according to one embodiment of the present invention. The
sheet 1 comprises: asheet portion 2 made from resin;cylindrical portions 3 at upper and lower, right and left edges of thesheet portion 2; ametal chain 4 accommodated in thecylindrical portions 3. - The
sheet portion 2 has the shape of a rectangle, and is preferably made from resin. It is possible to make thesheet portion 2 of waterproof cloth. Thesheet portion 2 is preferably foldable for transportation. - The
cylindrical portions 3 are formed to easily accommodate themetal chain 4 and eliminate the gap between the edges of thesheet portion 2 and the roof where thesheet 1 is put. Besides cylindrical shapes, other shapes will do as long as themetal chain 4 is accommodated at the overall edge of thesheet portion 2. Themetal chain 4 can partially be exposed. - The reason why the
metal chain 4 is used as a weight is that it is convenient for transportation and storage with thesheet 1 being folded. But, it is possible to use short metal rods or the like if it is easy to fold thesheet portion 2. Cylindrical plastic capsules with water therein may also be used as a weight. - FIG. 2 shows a usage of the
sheet 1 with the above-mentioned construction to prevent the leakage of rainwater by covering abroken portion 5 of a roof of a house. With thissheet 1, only transporting thesheet 1 to a roof and spreading thesheet 1 to cover thebroken portion 5 allows the overall edge of thesheet 1 to be stuck fast to the surface of the roof, which prevents the leakage of rainwater. - If the
metal chain 4, illustrated in FIG. 1 ofsheet 1, is too heavy, it is not easy to carry thesheet 1 to the roof. The weight of themetal chain 4 of thesheet 1 is preferably selected such that thesheet 1 may be easily carried and, when adjusted so that thesheet 1 covers thebroken portion 5, the edges are not lifted by wind. - Although the
metal chain 4 is accommodated at the overall edge to eliminated the gap between the overall edge of thesheet portion 2 and the surface of the roof in the above embodiment, it is possible to partially mount themetal chain 4 to the edge of thesheet portion 2 to partially stick thesheet portion 2 fast to the surface of the roof.
