Abstract
An improved chair pad comprises a back cushion and a seat cushion supported by two inner tube members or two outer tube members to form respectively a back pad and a seat pad which are engaged by means of two coupling elements and a fastener to form the chair pad. The chair pad may be fastened to a swing or a chair to form a detachable, versatile and sturdy chair pad.
Description
- This invention relates to an improvement for chair pad and particularly a detachable and versatile chair pad that offers a sturdy seating support for independent use and is attachable to a swing.
- The contemporary trends in product design have heavily focused on utilization convenience and flexibility for achieving the object of functional versatility. As a lot people are living in a relatively small house, how to make best utilization of the household products so that the house space can be efficiently used without downgrading living quality is an issue many people are keenly aware of nowadays. For instance, chair is an essential furniture in nearly every house. It usually takes certain amount of space. To increase its functional versatility and flexibility is an object many people are pursuing.
- Most independent chair pads now available on the market are designed for independent use, and cannot be used for other occasions such as a swing. Consumers have to buy different chair pads to meet different facility and requirements. It takes a lot of extra household space to accommodate and store these chair pads, and could result in very crowd and uncomfortable household living space. Moreover, conventional swing does not has facility to fix and stabilize the chair pad. The chair pad put thereon is not steadily held.
- To make better use of space and to increase the versatility of household product is a design trend most people wanted. For instance, in the market place, there are beds which can also function as chairs, or bed cushions which are foldable. They all aims to make the best utilization of the small household space.
- In view of aforesaid disadvantages, it is therefore an object of this invention to provide an improved chair pad that is detachable, versatile and sturdy, and may be used independently or be attached to a swing or a general chair.
- The chair pad according to this invention includes a back cushion and a seat cushion coupled respectively with two inner tube members to form a back pad and a seat pad. There are two coupling and a fastening member for engaging the back pad with the seat pad to form a completed chair pad that is detachable, versatile and sturdy.
- The invention, as well as its many advantages, may be further understood by the following detailed description and drawings, in which:

- FIG. 3 is a perspective view of another embodiment of this invention.
- FIG. 4 is a pictorial view of yet another embodiment of this invention in use.
- Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the chair pad according to this invention mainly includes two
12, 13 and twoinner tube members 2, 2′ encased respectively in afoam members back cushion 11 and aseat cushion 21 which have 111 and 211 stitchable to form aopenings back pad 10 and aseat pad 20. Through two 14, 14′ and a fastener 15 (which may be rivet or screw), thecoupling elements 10 and 20 are engaged together to become one set ofpads chair pad 1. - The openings of the back and seat cushion may be engaged together by means of buttons and button holes, or Velcro strips (not shown in the drawings).
- FIG. 3 shows another embodiment of this invention that is able to increase the strength of the
chair pad 1. The foregoing two 14, 14′ andcoupling elements fastener 15 are dispensed with. Instead, theback pad 10 andseat pad 20 are fastened by fasteners (rivets or screws) to a plurality of 161 and 171 supported by twotransverse bars 16 and 17. Then twoouter tube members 14, 14′ and acoupling elements fastener 15 are used to engage the 16 and 17 for forming a firm andouter tube members sturdy chair pad 1′. - Referring to FIG. 4 for yet another embodiment of this invention in which the
chair pad 1 is installed on aswing 3. Theswing 3 has aswing seat 31 which has a plurality offirst support bars 311 located thereon andswing bars 32 located at two sides thereof and a curvedsecond support bar 321 bridged between theswing bars 32. Then a plurality of thechair pads 1 may be disposed on theswing seat 31 between theswing bards 32 against thesecond support bard 321. Finally, thechair pads 1 are fastened to theswing seat 31 and 311 and 321 by means of fasteners 15 (rivets or screws) to form a swing chair.support bars - By means of the construction of this invention set forth above, the chair pad may be used independently or disposed on a swing. It is a detachable, versatile and sturdy chair pad without the drawbacks of conventional chair pads.
- While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been set forth for purpose of disclosure, modifications of the disclosed embodiments of the invention as well as other embodiments thereof may occur to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, the appended claims are intended to cover all embodiments which do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Claims (10)
1. An improved chair pad comprising a back cushion and a seat cushion supported by two inner tube members to form respectively a back pad and a seat pad which are engaged together by means of two coupling elements and a fastener to form the chair pad.
2. The improved chair pad of claim 1 , wherein the back cushion and seat cushion are respectively stuffed with a foam member therein.
3. The improved chair pad of claim 1 , wherein the back cushion and seat cushion have respectively a stitchable opening.
4. The improved chair pad of claim 3 , wherein the opening of the back cushion and seat cushion are engaged by means of buttons and button holes.
5. The improved chair pad of claim 3 , wherein the opening of the back cushion and seat cushion are engaged by means of Velcro strips.
6. The improved chair pad of claim 1 , wherein the fastener is a rivet or screw.
7. The improved chair pad of claim 1 , wherein the chair pad is installable on a swing.
8. The improved chair pad of claim 7 , wherein the swing has a swing seat which has a plurality of first support bars, two swing bars located at two sides of the swing seat and a second support bar bridged between the swing bars, a plurality of the chair pads being fastened to the swing seat and the first and second support bars.
9. The improved chair pad of claim 8 , wherein second support bar is formed in a curved shape.
10. The improved chair pad of claim 1 , wherein the two inner tube members are being removed, two outer tube members being added and located outside two lateral sides of the chair pad, the outer tube members being engaged by two coupling elements and a fastener, and having a plurality of transverse bars located therein, the back pad and seat pad being fastened to the transverse bars.
