Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • (a) Field of the Invention [0001]
  • The present invention relates to a tent with awning, and more particularly to one that provides shade for an automobile with sufficient supporting strength and is foldable for space saving when not used. [0002]
  • (b) Description of the Prior Art [0003]
  • The tent generally available in the market serves only for camping purpose and fails to provide any shade for an automobile. It will be very impractical to build up another tent exclusively for the automobile while camping. A tent of the prior art provides the awning by having extension bars to support a canvas. However, such awning is vulnerable to shaking and its supporting strength is weak. Should such extension bars are fixed, it consumes larger space and is not practical to carry. Even the extension bars are foldable, there are positioning and lateral shaking problems. [0004]
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary of the present invention is to provide a tent with awning for an automobile. To achieve the purpose, two extension bar units are adapted to two roof poles and a side bar of the tent. Each unit is comprised of an extension bar, a linking bar, a pivot base, two locking lips with one fixed to the side bar and the other to the extension bar. A canvas is provided to the extension bar and one end of the extension bar is pivoted to the roof pole. Wherein, the pivot base, one end of the reinforcement bar, and a locking lip are fixed in sequence to the extension bar; a hole is provided in each of the locking lip. One end of the linking bar connected to the pivot base and the other end having a protrusion inserted into in the hole of either locking lip depending on whether the unit is to be expanded or retracted. One end of the reinforcement bar is pivoted to the roof pole and the other end to the extension bar.[0005]
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is an elevation view of the present invention. [0006]
  • FIG. 2 is a schematic view showing the operation of the present invention with the link to be retracted. [0007]
  • FIG. 3 is another schematic view showing the operation of the present invention with the extension bar to be retracted. [0008]
  • FIG. 4 is a schematic view showing a preferred embodiment of the present invention. [0009]
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • FIG. 1 shows a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Wherein, a unit of [0010] extension bar 2 is each provided to the upper end of two roof poles 11 on one side of a tent 1 (also referring to FIG. 4). Said unit of extension bar 2 adapted to the roof poles 11 and a side bar 12 pivoted to the side of the roof poles 11 is comprised of an extension bar 21, a pivot base 23, two locking lips 24 & 25, and a reinforcement bar 26. A canvas 3 (illustrated in FIG. 4) is provided on the extension bar 21. One end of the extension bar 21 is pivoted to the top of the roof pole 11. A pivot base 23, one end of a reinforcement bar 26 and the locking lip 25 are fixed in sequence to the extension bar 21. One end of a linking bar 22 is connected to the pivot base 23 and the other end of the linking bar 22 is provided with a protrusion 221. Two holes 241 & 251 are respectively provided in the locking lips 24 and 25. The locking lip 24 is fixed to the side bar 12 while one end of the reinforcement bar 26 is pivoted to a bracket onto the roof pole 11. One end of the linking bar 22 is fixed to the pivot base 23 and the other end of the linking bar 22 is locked to the side bar 12 by inserting the protrusion 221 into the hole 241 of the locking lip 24, as shown in FIG. 2.
  • Referring to FIG. 4, the [0011] tent 1 is erected. The extension bar 21 of the extension bar unit 2 and the canvas 3 are expanded. As illustrated in FIG. 2, the protrusion 221 of the link 22 is pulled out from the hole 251 of the locking lip 25. The linking bar 22 is turned for the protrusion 221 to be inserted into the hole 241 of the locking lip 24 to complete erection of the extension bar unit 2 as illustrated in FIG. 1. Referring to FIG. 4, the expanded canvas 3 serves the awning for an automobile 4. To retract the extension bar unit 2 as illustrated in FIG. 2, the protrusion 221 of the linking bar 22 is pulled out from the hole 241 of the locking lip 24. Then the linking bar 22 is turned to insert the protrusion 221 into the hole 251 of the locking lip 25. Finally, the extension bar 21 is turned to retract the extension bar unit 2 to the side of the roof pole 11 as illustrated in FIG. 3.
  • When the [0012] extension bar unit 2 is expanded, the connection on the horizontal plane between the side bar 12 and the extension bar 21 is reinforced by the linking bar 22 to avoid the vertical shaking that may take place among the extension bar 21, the canvas 3 and the tent 1. On the vertical plane, the extension bar 21 is connected to the reinforcement bar 26 to prevent lateral shaking that may occur among the extension bar 21, the canvas 3 and the tent 1. Therefore, the present invention presents a better structural strength than that of the prior art. The present invention also permits easier handling in use or for storage since the protrusion 221 of the link 22 can be easily inserted into or pulled out from the holes 241 & 251 of the locking lips 24 & 25.
