Abstract
A tent with awning adapted to two roof poles and a side bar of the tent to provide a shade for an automobile comprised of two extension bar units. Each unit includes an extension bar, a linking bar, a pivot base, two locking lips and a reinforcement bar. A canvas is provided on the extension bar and one end of the extension bar is pivoted to the roof pole. The pivot base, one end of the reinforcement bar, and a locking lip are fixed in sequence to the extension bar. A hole is provided in each of the locking lip. One end of the linking bar is connected to the pivot base and the other end has a protrusion inserted into in the hole of locking lip. One end of the reinforcement bar is pivoted to the roof pole and the other end to the extension bar.
Description
- (a) Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a tent with awning, and more particularly to one that provides shade for an automobile with sufficient supporting strength and is foldable for space saving when not used.
- (b) Description of the Prior Art
- The tent generally available in the market serves only for camping purpose and fails to provide any shade for an automobile. It will be very impractical to build up another tent exclusively for the automobile while camping. A tent of the prior art provides the awning by having extension bars to support a canvas. However, such awning is vulnerable to shaking and its supporting strength is weak. Should such extension bars are fixed, it consumes larger space and is not practical to carry. Even the extension bars are foldable, there are positioning and lateral shaking problems.
- The primary of the present invention is to provide a tent with awning for an automobile. To achieve the purpose, two extension bar units are adapted to two roof poles and a side bar of the tent. Each unit is comprised of an extension bar, a linking bar, a pivot base, two locking lips with one fixed to the side bar and the other to the extension bar. A canvas is provided to the extension bar and one end of the extension bar is pivoted to the roof pole. Wherein, the pivot base, one end of the reinforcement bar, and a locking lip are fixed in sequence to the extension bar; a hole is provided in each of the locking lip. One end of the linking bar connected to the pivot base and the other end having a protrusion inserted into in the hole of either locking lip depending on whether the unit is to be expanded or retracted. One end of the reinforcement bar is pivoted to the roof pole and the other end to the extension bar.
- FIG. 1 is an elevation view of the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is a schematic view showing the operation of the present invention with the link to be retracted.
- FIG. 3 is another schematic view showing the operation of the present invention with the extension bar to be retracted.
- FIG. 4 is a schematic view showing a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 1 shows a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Wherein, a unit of
extension bar 2 is each provided to the upper end of tworoof poles 11 on one side of a tent 1 (also referring to FIG. 4). Said unit ofextension bar 2 adapted to theroof poles 11 and aside bar 12 pivoted to the side of theroof poles 11 is comprised of anextension bar 21, apivot base 23, twolocking lips 24 & 25, and areinforcement bar 26. A canvas 3 (illustrated in FIG. 4) is provided on theextension bar 21. One end of theextension bar 21 is pivoted to the top of theroof pole 11. Apivot base 23, one end of areinforcement bar 26 and thelocking lip 25 are fixed in sequence to theextension bar 21. One end of a linkingbar 22 is connected to thepivot base 23 and the other end of the linkingbar 22 is provided with aprotrusion 221. Twoholes 241 & 251 are respectively provided in the 24 and 25. Thelocking lips locking lip 24 is fixed to theside bar 12 while one end of thereinforcement bar 26 is pivoted to a bracket onto theroof pole 11. One end of the linkingbar 22 is fixed to thepivot base 23 and the other end of the linkingbar 22 is locked to theside bar 12 by inserting theprotrusion 221 into thehole 241 of thelocking lip 24, as shown in FIG. 2. - Referring to FIG. 4, the
tent 1 is erected. Theextension bar 21 of theextension bar unit 2 and thecanvas 3 are expanded. As illustrated in FIG. 2, theprotrusion 221 of thelink 22 is pulled out from thehole 251 of thelocking lip 25. The linkingbar 22 is turned for theprotrusion 221 to be inserted into thehole 241 of thelocking lip 24 to complete erection of theextension bar unit 2 as illustrated in FIG. 1. Referring to FIG. 4, the expandedcanvas 3 serves the awning for anautomobile 4. To retract theextension bar unit 2 as illustrated in FIG. 2, theprotrusion 221 of the linkingbar 22 is pulled out from thehole 241 of thelocking lip 24. Then the linkingbar 22 is turned to insert theprotrusion 221 into thehole 251 of thelocking lip 25. Finally, theextension bar 21 is turned to retract theextension bar unit 2 to the side of theroof pole 11 as illustrated in FIG. 3. - When the
extension bar unit 2 is expanded, the connection on the horizontal plane between theside bar 12 and theextension bar 21 is reinforced by the linkingbar 22 to avoid the vertical shaking that may take place among theextension bar 21, thecanvas 3 and thetent 1. On the vertical plane, theextension bar 21 is connected to thereinforcement bar 26 to prevent lateral shaking that may occur among theextension bar 21, thecanvas 3 and thetent 1. Therefore, the present invention presents a better structural strength than that of the prior art. The present invention also permits easier handling in use or for storage since theprotrusion 221 of thelink 22 can be easily inserted into or pulled out from theholes 241 & 251 of thelocking lips 24 & 25.
