Abstract

The present inline skates have a braking system allowing the brakes to be used simultaneously. One embodiment of the invention comprises a frame with a rear wheel carrier and a braking wheel carrier rotatingly mounted on the frame through a first cylinder and an axle and interlocking through a notch on a braking wheel carrier and a fourth cylinder on a first rear wheel carrier while the first rear wheel and a braking wheel are rotatingly mounted on their respective carriers. Another mobile rear wheel is handled by its carrier rotatingly mounted on the second cylinder affixed to the frame. The braking force is regulated through a screw and a pair of friction cylinders. Carrier rotation limiting cylinders are affixed to the frame. The front wheels are standard fixed wheels rotatingly mounted on the frame.

Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD
  • 1. This invention relates to a special kind of inline skates featuring extra efficient braking system. Such skates are a sports requsite. As far as is known the inline skates with similar characteristics have never been invented or made.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 2. The object of this invention is to create a braking system for inline skates which makes it possible for two brakes to be used simultaneosly. This invention is sharply contrasted to a single brake braking system (with all its variations) widely practiced today which is highly ineffective. Namely, it allows the skater to use one brake only (during braking action) which causes the problem of balance. To solve the problem of balance, the skater mast use a brake up to 30-40% of its actual braking power.
  • 3. By contrast pure braking system by putting to work the brakes (at the same time) eliminates the problem of balance and allows both brakes to be used up to 100% of their braking potential from the very beginning of the braking action.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • 4. The main characteristic of inline skates with two brakes to be used simultaneously during braking action. This kind of performance is achieved by the specific constructon of the frame, the main feature of wich is the introduction of the mobile rear wheel working closely with the mobile braking wheel during braking action. The said wheels are made mobile through their respective rotating carriers. A pair of rear wheel carriers rotate around cylinders incorporated in the frame while a pair of braking wheel carriers rotate around the ends of the same axle. The carriers of both said wheels are interlocked during skating through the notch (on one end) of braking wheel carrier clutching (hooking) the cylinder affixed to the rear wheel carrier. Once the braking action is over, both carriers are pushed back by their respective springs into their starting position to be interlocked eventually.

  • DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • 8.FIG. 1 Shows an inline skate with frame 1 affixed to the boot. First two wheels 2,3 positioned inline on the frame 1 are standard fixed-non mobile wheels. They are followed by two (inline) mobile wheels 26,4. The real wheel 4 and the braking wheel 5 make up the braking system to be explained in detail.
  • 9. The rear wheel carrier 7 is rotatingly mounted on the cylinder 29 affixed to the frame 1 (FIG. 1,3). The spring holder 14 are affixed to the inside of the frame 1 and to the rear wheel carrier 7 holding the springs 13 the purpouse of which is to push back the rear wheel carrier 17 (once braking is completed) to their starting position (FIG. 1), till they touch the cylinder 17 affixed to the frame 1 which limits their backward rotation.
  • 10. The axle 12 is affixed to the frame 1 through a pair of screws 24, and has fixedly mounted hallow cylinder 21 on with its mid section 20 (FIG. 3) (notch) against which one end of the spring 19 rests. The notch 8 on one end of the braking wheel carrier 6 clutches the cylinder 9 affixed to the rear wheel carier 7, to keep the rear wheel 4 firmly in its working position during skating. On the rear end of the frame 1 there is the braking wheel carrier 6 rotatingly mounted on ends of the axle 11 which is fixedly mounted on the frame 1 through a pair of screws 25.
  • 11. A pair of springs 19 (FIG. 2) are mounted on the axle 11, resting with one end against the noch 20 of the hollow cylinder 21 and with other end against the spring holders 15 affixed to the braking wheel carrier 6. By pushing the braking wheel 5 to the ground (mounted on one end of the braking wheel carrier 6) a pair of springs 19 help the two wheel carriers 7,6 interlock once braking action is completed. The braking wheel 5 is rotatingly mounted on the axel 22 and constantly pinched with a pair of rubber cylinders through the screw 23 which regulates the bracking force of each brake. The rear wheel carrier 7 and the braking wheel carrier 6 are interlocked during skating (FIG. 1) through the notch 8 (on the braking wheel carrier 6) clutching the cylinder 9 affixed to the rear wheel carrier 7.
  • 12. The third inline wheel 26 is mobile and is rotatingly mounted between a pair of its carriers 30 also rotatingly mounted on the cylinder 28 affixed to the frame 1. During skating the carrier 30 rests against a pair of cylinders 31 affixed to the frame 1 due to the angle between the ground and the carrier 30. Once braking is completed a pair of springs 32 push back the wheel carrier 30 till it touches the cylinder 31 (FIG. 1). The spring holders 33 affixed to the inside of the frame 1 and the wheel carrier 30 hold the said springs 32.
  • 13. How the braking system works? During skating (FIG. 1) the braking wheel 5 is above the ground and the carriers 6 and 7 are interlocked through their respective parts, the cylinder 9 and the notch 8. The third wheel carrier 30 under the body weight and the angle between the carrier 30 and the surface rests against the cylinder 31. To engage the brakes the skater should lift the front wheels 2 of both skates. As result, the braking wheel 5 touches the ground and their carriers 6 start to rotate around the axle 11 counter clockwise till the carriers 6 touch the cylinders 10 affixed to the frame 1. The said rotation of the carrier 6 allows its notch 8 to release the cylinder 9 of the rear wheel carrier 7. As result, under the body weight the rear wheel carrier 7 starts to rotate clokswise around the cylinder 29 while the rear wheel 4 starts pushing the third wheel 26 also clock wise. During the braking action the skating is done on the wheel 3 and the braking wheel 5 while the body weight is almost entirely on the braking wheel 5 because the mobile wheels 26,4 get disengaged rotating idly. Once braking is completed the skates get lifted (one at the time) off the ground which causes the springs 32,13,19 to push their respective wheel carriers 30,7,6 into their working position (FIG. 1) while carriers 7 and 6 get interlocket again as result.

Claims (1)

I claim:
1. The inline skates with fixed (2,3) and mobile wheels (26,4) and with two brakes to be used simultaneously comprising:
a) a frame 1
b) a cylinder 29 affixed to said frame 1
c) a rear wheel carrier 7 rotatingly mounted on said cylinder 29
d) a rear wheel 4 rotatingly mounted on said carrier 7
e) the spring holders 14 affixed to said frame 1 and said carrier 7
f) a pair of springs 13 run trhough said holders 14
g) an axle 11 fixedly mounted on said frame 1
h) a pair of springs 19 mounted on said axle 11 resting with one end against the notch 20 of the cylinder 21 and with other end against the spring holders 15 affixed to a braking wheel carrier 6
i) a braking wheel carrier 6 rotatingly mounted on said axle 11
j) a notch 8 on one end of said carrier 6
k) a braking wheel 5 rotatingly mounted on said carrier 6
l) a screw 23 regulating the braking force
m) a pair of friction cylinders constantly pinching said braking wheel 5 duo to a said screw 23
n) a cylinder 9 affixed to said rear wheel carrier 7 clutched by said notch 8
o) a cylinder 28 affixed to said frame 1
p) a carrier 30 rotatingly mounted on said cylinder 28
q) a wheel 26 rotatingly mounted on said carrier 30
r) springs 32 and spring holders 33 identical to springs 13 and spring holders 14
