NECKTIE WRAPPER Filed May 21, 1936 INVENTOR H439) 416E965? ATTORNEY Patented Feb. 23, 1937 UNITED :x.
FFICE NECKTIE WRAPPER 1 Claim.
This invention relates to necktie packages. It is particularly directed to a wrapper for four-inhand neckties for shipment and the like purposes.
An object of this invention is to provide a tie package of the character described, in which the ties cannot shift or slip, the construction being such that creasing or soiling of the ties is effectively prevented, and comprising a wrapper for the ties which adjusts itself to all thicknesses of fabrics, thus holding the ties snugly and securely.
A further object of this invention is to provide a compact and attractive tie package of the character described, which shall be relatively inexpensive to manufacture, simple to assemble and wrap and which shall nevertheless be practical and efficient to a high degree in use.
This application is an improvement over the patent granted to me on Necktie wrapper, on March 12, 1935, #1994382.
Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the following claim.
In the accompanying drawing, in which is shown one of the various possible illustrative embodiments of this invention,
Fig. l is a top plan view of a wrapper embodying the invention laid out flat;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of a tie package embodying the invention;
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view through the package shown in Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 46 of Fig. 2;
Fig. 5 is a top plan view of the wrapper band forming part of my improved package; and
Fig. 6 is a partial top plan view of my improved package illustrating a modified form thereof.
Referring now in detail to the drawing, ill designates a tie package embodying the invention and comprising generally a wrapper H wrapped around a plurality of ties l3 and held in wrapped condition by a band M. The wrapper i 3 comprises a relatively stifi elongated member l5 of cardboard or other suitable sheet or thin material and generally of sustantially triangular shape. The member i5 has substantially the shape of the wider half of a four-in-hand tie, having inclined side edges l6 and ll, a relatively wide base edge l8 at one end and a relatively narrow edge [9 parallel to the base edge at the other end.
Pasted to the side edge 16 of said member I5, is one edge of a soft or flexible sheet 25 of translucent or transparent material, such as cellophane, glassine or waxed paper. The edge of the sheet 2% which is adhered to said edge l6, is substantially co-extensive therewith and is sufficiently wide to be wrapped entirely around the opposite sides of the member l5 and yet have an extending flap. Thus, the edge 22 of the sheet 20 adjacent the edge I8 is somewhat more than twice the length of said edge H8. The edge 22 of the sheet 28! adjacent the edge i9 is preferably substantially three times the length of said edge 19. A plurality of superimposed four-in-hand ties l3 may be folded over the stiff sheet or member H": with the mid-portions of the ties around the edge 19. The wider portion of the ties is preferably on the under-side of the sheet l5 and the narrower ends on the upper side of the sheet l5. After the ties have been folded over the sheet E5, the sheet 2% is wrapped around the folded ties, said sheet being folded entirely around said ties and having flap 26 on the upper side or above the narrower ends of the ties. After the ties have been thus wrapped, the band l4 may be applied thereto. Said band comprises a strip of heavy paper or other suitable sheet material and may be of generally arcuate shape, or have the outer ends inclined to one another and symmetrically disposed about the middle of the band.
As shown in the drawing said strip has an inner-curved edge 3%! and an outer concentric edge 3! At one end thereof, the strip 04 has a radial edge 32, and at the other end thereof a head portion 33 interconnected to the body of said band by a neck portion 3 3. Adjacent the edge 32 thereof, the strip i l is formed with a slit 35 adapted to receive the head 33 for connecting the ends of the strip. The outer ends of the band it are preferably folded inwardly and the head 33 inserted through the slit 35 so as to be hidden from view, to form a continuous band. When the band I4 is thus folded, the folded side edges thereof will be inclined to one another. The band may then be placed on the wrapped ties and moved from the narrower end to the wider end until the band firmly grips the package.
In Fig. 6 a paster 4t pasted over the flap 26 and the adjacent portion of the wrapper is substituted for the band'll.
It will thus be seen that there is provided a de- Vice in which the several objects of this invention of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiments above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A tie package for a plurality of neckties comprising an elongated stifi sheet supporting and retaining member corresponding in taper to the taper of a plurality of neckties folded in half and placed thereover, said ties folded at an inter-
