Description

.G. c. SPENCER TROUSERS DISPLAY FIXTURE Filed Sept. 4, 1955 QZC'QZINVENTOR "roman Patented Dec. 8, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to display stands especially adapted for supporting trousers and like garments, either short or long, for display purposes so that the trousers or like garments will be shown to the best advantage, and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which may be readily adapted to a conventional stand or pedestal and is capable of adjustment to accommodate trousers or garments of difierent sizes.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view illustrating a display stand supporting trousers and constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevation, partly in section, illustrating the same.
Figure 3 is a top plan view illustrating the device.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral I indicates a conventional type of stand or pedestal consisting of'a tubular post 2 secured to a base 3. A set screw 4 is threadedto a head 5 mounted to the post 2. The head is apertured to permit insertion into the post of a stem 6 forming a part of the present invention.
The stem 6 may be raised and lowered and secured in any of its adjusted positions by the set screw 4 and its upper end is bent to form a goose neck I and is threaded to a sleeve 8.
The sleeve 8 is disposed horizontally and has the goose neck I secured thereto intermediate the ends thereof. The sleeve slidably receives oppositely extending rods 9 to which are secured heads I0 each of arcuate formation. An arm II is formed on the sleeve intermediate the ends of the latter and has a head l2. The arms 9 are adjustable relative to the sleeve and may be secured in any of their adjusted positions by set screws !3.
Trousers or like garments have the waist band thereof placed in engagement with the heads III, the latter contacting the Waist band at opposite sides, while the head l2 contacts the waist band at the front of the trousers. adjusted relative to the sleeve to spread the waist band and consequently bring about a binding of the waist band on the head sufiicient to sustain the trousers in a suspended position.
Having described the invention, I claim:
A display fixture comprising a stand, a stem adjustably secured to said stand and having its upper end bent to form a goose neck, a sleeve secured intermediate its ends to the free end of the goose neck and disposed horizontally, arms adjustably secured to said sleeve and extending in opposite directions, arcuately curved heads secured to the free ends of said arms and including convex faces to engage the inner face of a waist band of a garment, an arm secured to said sleeve intermediate the ends thereof and extending angularly to the first-named arms, and a head secured to the second-named arm to contact the inner face of the waist band of the garment.
GROVER C. SPENCER.
