Another object of the invention -is the provision of a label of this character, which is simple in construction, reliable and eilcient for the purpose intendedizhereof, readily and easily applied to a container, bottle or the like, capable of wear and durability and'inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consistsin the features of construction,
combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is an elevation of a bottle showing a label constructed in accordance with the invention applied thereto.
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentaryA elevation of the label removed from the bottle.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 of ,Figure 21ooking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on the linel-l of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in Referring to the drawing in detail, A desig- 40 natesgenerallyabottlewhichisofstandard kind embodiment of the invention andA and upon this bottle is arranged the label constituting the present invention and hereinafter fully described.
The label comprises an outer body section 5, preferably made from sheet material, for ex- 5 ample, celluloid, having transparence and this v'section has outstruck therefrom letters 6, these being selective and in this instance spell the word Poison the character of the letters 6, being of no consequence excepting that such letters shall l0 be raised from the outer face of the section 5 and contain within the hollows 1' of such letters as created by the outstruck formation vthereof a compound 8 of self-luminous substance or radio active substances, the same being held in the l5 hollows by a backing 9 in the form of la sheetl of material carrying a coat of black paint I0 the latter extending over the body section and functioning to secure the backing to the body section and the label in its entirety upon the body o f the 20 bottle A.
The section 5 has outstruck therefrom near opposite ends the skull and crossbones symbol Il while llng the hollow side of each of the latter is a luminous composition I2 which is held there- 25 in by the backing 9 so that the symbol will be self-luminous for signalling or identifying purposes.
What is claimed is:
A label of the kind described comprising a.- 30 transparent outer section having indicia struck outwardly therefrom, a luminous lling seated in the outstruck indicia for illuminating the same,
a backing for the luminous filling to retain the same in the outstruck indicia and arranged at 35 the-rear of said section, and a coating of black paint extending over` said backing and the section .throughout and adapted to secure the section to a bottle and the backing in place.
