2 Claims. (01. 124-14) This invention relates to toy fire arms and has particular reference to a toy gun of the type employed for shooting rubber bands.

The object of this invention is to provide a toy gun of the character above mentioned that is extremely simple in construction and operation, consisting of a minimum number of parts and accordingly can be cheaply made and retailed at a nominal cost.

The invention together with its numerous objects and advantages will be best understood from a study of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein: V

Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the gun.

Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof.

Figure 3 is a fragmentary elevational view illustrating certain details of construction to be hereinafter more fully referred to.

Referring to the drawing by reference numerals it will be seen that the toy gun comprises a barrel 5, a handle 6, guard 7 and what may be so that the disk 9.is engaged with the pivot in a manner to permit of a shifting of the disk inany desired plane radial to the pivot 12. The

disk 9 being thus freely shiftable it will be seen that the fingers 10 thereon may be readily brought into engagement with a stop 13 in a manner to prevent casual rotation ofthe disk 9 in a clock-'- wise direction.

At its free end the barrel 5 is provided with a notch 14 and the rubber bands 15 are engaged with the notch 14 and with the periphery of the disk 9 between the fingers 10 in a manner to hold the bands 15 in taut or stretched condition so as to be successively .shot as the disk 9 is rotated in a clockwise direction.

The use and operation of the invention is thought apparent, In loading the gun one of the fingers 10 is engaged with the stop 13 in the manner shown in Figure 3 and the bands 15 are then engaged with the notch 14 and the disk 9 in the manner shown in Figure 1. With the gun thus loaded a rapid firing of the gun may be readily accomplished by shifting the disk 9 toward the left in Figure 3 so as to move the finger 10 engaged with the stop 13 out of engagement with sists of two identical sections each of which is cut and shaped-to provide for the barrel 5, guard 7 and handle 6 and these sections are secured together through the medium of the pivot 12 and stop 13 which are in the nature of rivets and also by additional rivets 16. For the purpose of form ing the chamber 8 thesections of the gun are recessed in the region of the guard 7 and at the be understood that the same is susceptible of further changes, modifications and improvements coming within the scope of the appended claims. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is: v

1. A toy pistol adapted to project rubber bands comprising two complemental sections adapted to,

be arranged in fiat parallel relation, rivets securing the sections together, said sections having corresponding portions thereof recessed to provide a chamber, through which two of said rivets extend, a disk arranged in the chamber and provided in its center with a relatively large opening for accommodating one of said two rivets, and being also provided on its periphery with radially projecting fingers to be engaged'by the rubber bands, and, upon shifting of said disk relative to the said one of said two rivets, to engage the other one of said two rivets for retarding rotation of said disk. V
