6 Claims. .lgotsiysn The invention relates to bottle stoppers of the type which when inserted in a. bottle will make this non-refillable. It has for its min object to provide 2, bottle stopper which can not be removed from the bottle when once inserted, and
which positively prevents the introduction of any liquid or other substance into the bottle.
Another object is to provide a. bottle stopper which may be adapted to make any type of hottle non-refillable without having to alter its shape or change its general appearance. When the bottle is in its upright or normal position, the valve discs 16 and 17 close the upper ends of the grooves 1s and the orifice 15. The valve discs will remain in this position until the bottle is tilted to the approximate position shown in Fig. 2. This arrangement prevents any liquid from remaining in the chamber 14 after the bottle has been tilted. In other cases it may not be necessary to use the lower disc as a valve, but only as a detent to limit the movement of the valve stem.
From the foregoing it will be seen that this device provides a simple, inexpensive and effective means for converting a bottle into a non-refillable bottle. I
Having described the invention and its operation, what I claim as new and wish to protect by Letters Patent is:
l. A bottle stopper for preventing the refilling of a bottle; comprising a body member having an annular flange at its upper face insertable in a recess in the upper part of the neck of a bottle; a plurality of passages formed longitudinally through said body member; a concentric opening formed in said body member; a valve stem, having a valve disc at its upper end and a detent at its lower end, slidingly mounted in said opening; and a resilient sleeve secured on the outside of said body member, below said flange, for securing the whole device in the neck of a bottle; said flange being of larger diameter than the sleeve to prevent this from being tampered with. 2. A bottle stopper for preventing the refilling of a bottle; comprising a body member having an annular flange at its upper face insertable in a recess in the upper part of the neck of a bottle and a valve chamber in its lower end; an orifice leading from the lower end of the body member to said chamber; a plurality of passages leading from said chamber to the upper face of the body member; an axial opening formed through the body member; a valve stem slidingly mounted in said opening; a valve disc provided at the upper end of the valve stem for closing the upper ends of said passages; another valve disc provided' at the lower end of the valve stem for closing said orifice; and a resilient sleeve secured on the outside of the body member, below said flange, for securing the whole device in the neck of a bottle; said flange being of larger diameter than the sleeve to prevent this from being tampered with.

A bottle stopper for preventing the refilling of a bottle; comprising a body. member having an annular flange at its upper face insertable in a recess in the upper part of the neck of a bottle and a valve chamber at its lower end; an orifice leading from the lower end of the body member to said chamber; a plurality of passages leading from said chamber to the upper face of the body member; an axial opening formed through the body member; a valve stem slidingly mounted in said opening; a valve disc provided at the upper end of the valve stem for closing the upper ends of said passages; another valve disc provided at the lower end of the valve stem for ,closing the orifice if the upper valve disc is removed or the valve stem broken off; and a resilient sleeve secured on the outside of the body member, below the said flange, for securing the whole device in the neck of a bottle; said flange being of larger diameter than the sleeve to prevent this from being tampered with.

A bottle stopper for preventing the refilling of a bottle; comprising a plural-parted body member having an annular flange at its upper face insertable in a recess in the upper part of the neck of a bottle and a valve chamber in its lower end; an orifice leading from the bottom of the body member to said chamber; a plurality of passages leading from said chamber to the upper face of the body member; an axial opening formed through the body member; a valve stem, formed integrally with a valve disc at each end, slidingly mounted in said opening; and a resilient sleeve secured on the outside of the body member, below said flange, for holding the body-member parts together and for securing the whole device in the neck of a bottle; said flange being of larger diameter than the sleeve to prevent this from being tampered with.

The combination with a bottle, having an annular recess in the upper part of its neck, of v a bottle stopper; comprising a body member having an annular flange at its upper face and a valve chamber at its lower end; an orifice leading from the lower end of the body member to said chamber; a plurality of passages leading from said chamber to the upper face of the body member; an axial opening formed through the body member; a valve stem slidingly mounted in said opening; a valve disc provided at the upper end of the valve stem for closing the upper ends of said passages; another valve disc provided at the lower end of the valve stem for closing said orifice; and a resilient sleeve secured on the outside of the body member, below said flange, for securing the whole device in the neck of the bottle.

The combination with a bottle, having an annular recess in the upper part of its neck, and a bottle stopper; comprising a body member having an annular flange at its upper face and a valve chamber at its lower end; an orifice leading from the lower end of the body member to said chamber; a plurality of passages leading from said chamber to the upper face of the body member; an axial opening formed through the body member; a valve stem slidingly mounted in said opening; a valve disc provided at the upper end of the valve stem for closing the upper ends of said passages; another valve disc provided at SOLOMON GRAUER.
