Description

B. DUERSTOCK. STOVES FOR cooxnm AND HEATING.
Patentedj'uly fl, 1877.
N.FETERS. PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER WASHINGTON. D. 04
BERNARD DUERSTOCK,
OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT lN STOVES FQR CGOKING AND HEATING.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 193,233,
June 20, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BERNARD DiJERs'rooK, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification v This invention consists of certain improvements on Patent No. 141,771, granted to me August 12,- 1873, in which is described a stove, having a shift-able grate, in conj unction with a vertically-sliding door and detachable blower, and also having an air-chamber in the rear.
My improvement consists ofa small pair of hinged doors in the sliding door, and of two sets of removable linings at the back and sides of the fire-chamber for alternative use, as hereinafter explained.
Figure l is a perspective view of a stove, such as was shown in Letters Patent above referred to, and embracing my improvements. Fig. 2 is a vertical section, showing the grate in its lower position; and Fig. 3 is another vertical section, showing the grate elevated.
The door A slides in grooves B at each side of the stove, and in this door is placed an auxiliary hinged door or doors, 0 O, by means of which fuel can be introduced without raising the heavy sliding door A.
The doors 0 0 may be provided with mice windows, as shown in Fig. 1.
D represents my blower in position, having registers d and d, and E is the air-chamber,
dated July 17, 1877; application filed inclosed by the stove ,back F and plate H, a short distance therefrom, and having inlet 0 and outlet 0. To prevent the burning of this plate, H, I provide two sets of perforated linings, shown, respectively, in Figs. 2 and 3.
When the grate J is in the upper position, the back lining I rests on the grate in a vertical position, being held in place by side linings K; but when the grate is in the lower position, the back liniiig L is inclined, the top resting against the plate H, and the base on the grate J, the side lining M serving to hold it in place.
When it is desired to use the stove for cocking, as in Fig. 3, the grate J, being elevated, the linings L M are useless, and are therefore removed, and other linings I Kare placed on top the grate J.
- I claim as new and of my invention 1. In a stove provided with shiftable grate J, the sliding fire-door A, having the auxiliary hinged doors C G, substantially as de scribed and shown.
2. In combination with a stove having shiftable grate J and sliding door A, the removable linings I K L M, as described and shown.
Attest WALTER KNIGHT,
L. H. Bonn.
In testimony of which inventionI hereunto
