The present invention relates to surgical belts of the type particularly adapted for the relief of sacro-illiac troubles and abdominal ptosis.

The present invention has for its principal ob- I ject the provision of a surgical belt wherein straps are included for giving a combined horizontal or circumferential abdominal tension for the relief of sacro-illiac conditions, and an uplifting tension for the forward part of the belt for the relief of abdominal ptosis.

A further object of the present invention is to provide in a belt of the typementioned straps for combining circumferential and uplifting tensions so arranged that complete flexibility between such stresses and tensions are secured thus vgiving complete comfort during use.

Further objects of my invention will appear from the following detailed description thereof.

The numerals l and 2 indicate the back and side elements of my new belt. The element 1 is provided with a front section 3 secured thereto by stitching or integrally formed therewith. The

free ends of the front section 3 and the section 2 are provided with hook and eye securing means 4 in the usual manner.

l The back edges of the sections l and 2 are provided with eyes 5 for lacings 6 and 7; the lacings 6 after passing through the upper series of eyes in each section have their ends secured together by short loops 8 carrying buckles 9--9.

-The lacings l after passing through the lower series of eyes 5 have their ends secured in loops 10-10 carrying buckles 1l-l1. Secured to the lower front section 3 of the belt is a fabric plate l2 carrying loops 13-13 which secure metal rings or loops lli-14. Attached to the back sections l and 2 by means of stitching are straps 15-15, which after passing through the buckles 9 9 extend through loops 16e-16 at the upper side portions of the respective sections 1 and 2. Similarly secured to the back sections 1 and 2 are straps l'Z-l'l which after passing through the buckles 11411 extend through loops 18-18 at the lower portions of the sides of the respective sections. The straps 1.5-15 and 17-17 extend to the front of the belt. Secured to the free ends of straps 17-17 are buckles 12B-19. The free ends of straps 1.5-15 pass through the rings or loops lillli and are adjustably secured by the buckles 19-19.

From the foregoing the nature and use of my new belt will be apparent to thoseskilled in the art `to which the same appertains.

By means of the disposition and manner of attachment of the respective straps l5-15 and 1'7-1'7 it will be seen that drawing the free ends of the straps 15-15 through the buckles 19-19 and securing them by means of said buckles, will place any desired tension upon the lacings 6 and 'l at the back of the belt, and willalso give the proper reenforcing tension to the straps themselves at the front and sides of the belt. By reference to Figure 2 particularly it will be observed that the straps 15-15 are disposed so as to converge from the upper sides of the belt obliquely downward to the front, thus reenforcing the front portion of the belt with an uplifting tension which is highly effective for the treatment and relief of abdominal ptosis. The straps 17-1'7, on the other hand, pass around the wearer horizontally and provide a horizontal or circumferential tension which contributes greatly to the relief and comfort of sufferers from sacro-illiac disorders. Furthermore, by reason of the passage of the straps 'through the loops or rings lll- 14 the straps are permitted to slide freely through said loops thus adapting the respective tensions to the movements of the wearer and contributing greatly to his or her comfort.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

lper and lower series of lacings, a pair of loops secured at the front of said belt, a pair of straps secured to the respective ends of the upper lacings, each of said straps passing slidably through one of said loops, and means for adjustably securing the free ends of said straps to the respective ends of the lower series of lacings.

In combination with a belt constructed of 105 two sections secured together at the back by upper and lower series of lacings, a pair of loops secured at the front of said belt, a pair of straps secured to each side of said belt to form upper and lower loops, a pair of straps secured to the respective 11o ends of the upper lacings, each of said straps passing slidably through one of said upper loops and one of said front loops, and means passing slidably through said lower loops for securing the free ends of said straps to the respective ends of the lower series of lacings.

In combination with a belt constructed of two sections, secured together at the back by upper and lower series of lacings, a pair of loops secured at the front of said belt, a pair of lstraps secured to each side of said belt to form upper and lower loops, a pair of straps secured to the respective ends of the upper lacings, each of said straps passing slidably through one of said upper loops and one of said front loops, and meansk passing slidably through said lower loops for adjustably securing the free ends of said straps to the respective ends of the lower series of lacings.

In combination with a belt constructed of two sections secured together at the back by upper and lower series of lacings, a pair of buckles secured to the respective ends of each of said series of lacings, a pair of loops secured at the lower front of said belt, a pair of straps secured one to each of said sections near the upper back portion thereof, each of said straps being arranged to pass through and to be secured by one of the buckles carried by the upper series of lacings, and to pass slidably through one of said loops, a pair of straps secured one to each of said sections near the back lower portion thereof, said straps being arranged to pass through and to be secured by the respective buckles carried by the lower series of lacings, and means for adjustably securing together the free ends of the respective pairs of upper and lower straps.

In combination with a belt constructed of two sections secured together at the back by upper and lower series of lacings, a pair of buckles secured to the respective ends of each of said series of lacings, a pair oi loops secured to the lower front of said belt, a pair of straps secured to each side of said belt to form upper and lower loops, a pair of straps secured one to each of said sections near the upper back portion thereof, each of said straps being arranged to pass through and to be secured by one of the buckles carried by the upper series of lacings and to pass slidably through one of said upper side loops and through one of said front loops, a pair of straps secured one to each of said sections near the back lower portion thereof, said straps being arranged to pass through and be secured by the respective buckles carried by the lower series of lacings and to eX- tend through the respective lower side loops, and means for adjustably securing together thefree ends of the respective pairs of upper and lower straps.
