In a mining machine the combination with a machine frame and a kerf cutter pivotally mounted thereon, of mechanism for swinging and guiding said'kerf cutter including bearing means formed on said kerf cutter and cooperating with an arcuate guide on the machine frame, a sprocket journaled within said bearing means, and a chain passing around said arcuate guide and attached at its ends to said frame, said sprocket engaging said chain and rotatable to eiect travel thereof along said chain thereby to swing the kerf cutter.
