ALFRED BEAUSOLEIL, OF ALPENA, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN TWINE-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 191,914, dated June 12, 1877; application filed April as, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
7 Be it known that I, ALFRED BEAUSOLEIL, of Alpena, in the county of Alpena and State of Michigan, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Twine-Holders; and I do hereby'declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure I of the drawings is a representation of a plan view of my twine-holder, and Fig. 2 is a central vertical sectional view of my twineholder.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a twineholder, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The annexed drawing, to which reference is made, fully illustrates my invention.
A represents a platform, of any suitable di mensions, upon which is secured a figure, B, of a man. The body of this figure is hollow to contain the ball of twine O, the end of the twine passing out through an aperture, 64, in the body B, at the back, near the top.
Two balls of twine, of different kind, may be placed within the body B by providing said body with an interior horizontal partition, D, and placing one ball above and one below the same. The twine from the lower ball will then pass through a central hole in said partition, and then through the hole a. The twine from the top ball passes out through another hole in the top of the body, as'shown.
The head G of the figure is screwed on the neck I), and may be made hollow to contain still another ball of twine, cord, or tape, &c.
The figure may be represented as dressed in any desired costume; but I prefer to make it in military dress, with a sword, E, held in horizontal or nearly horizontal position under the right arm. The handle of the sword E is brought down on the edge of the bladed, and
thus be out ofl'. This device also answers for a pencil-sharpener.
H H are the arms of the figure, shown as bent, with the hands I I in an elevated position, forming a rack for holding a card, J, for advertising purposes.
This twine holder, with its attachments, may be made of any material suitable for the purpose, and of any size desired.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The body B of the figure, adapted to receive one or more balls of twine, and provided with a diaphragm, D, a twine-cutter, and a card-rack, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
2. The twine-holder, having the body B, arms H H, and sword Id, slotted as described, and provided with the removable blade d, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
3. As an article of manufacture,- the withindescribcd twine-holder, consisting of the platform A, body B, head 0, arms H H with hands I I, and sword E with blade 01, all constfucted substantially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
ALFRED BEAUSOlhEIL. Witnesses:
CHARLES A. JEYTE, J osEPH DEOENT.
