the provision of an attachment of the class referred to that is hingedly secured relatively to the container and provided with means to adjustably secure the cap thereto so as to permit rotation and removal and replacement 0 of the cap.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a cap securing device including an arm hingedly mounted on the container and provided with an elongated slot to receive the stem of a stud mounted on the cap so as to permit rotation and removal and replacement-of the cap relatively to the container and to prevent loss of the cap and misplacing'it.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an attachment of the type stated including an arm hingedly mounted on the. container and provided with an elongated opening to receive the stem of a stud secured to the cap, the end of the arm being also provided with an opening extending inwardly from the outer end of the arm and communicating with the elongated opening so as to permit removal and replacement of the arm relatively to the stem of the stud. A further object of the invention is the provision of an attachment'of the type stated in which the arm is formed of a single strand of wire bent to provide an elongated opening for the stem of the stud on the cap, the wire being so bent as to provide an opening through the end of the arm communicating with the elongated opening therein,

In Figures 1, 2 and 3 is shown one form of. the attachment for preventing loss of a closure cap as applied to a sheet metal container 20 and having a screw cap 21 mounted on a threaded nozzle 22. The cap 21 has plan view of a further m0da headed stud 23 secured thereto in any suitable manner, and 24 is an arm hingedly secured as shown at 25 to a supporting member 26 provided with an angular foot piece 27 secured as shown at 28 to the top of the container adjacent to the nozzle 22. The arm 24 is provided with an elongated opening 29 to receive the shank of the stud 23 and also with a V-shaped opening 30 that extends from the free end of the arm 24 inwardly and is in communication with the elongated opening 29 by means of a relatively narrow communicating opening 31. In Figure 4 is shown a modification in which the arm is designated 24 and hingedly secured as shown at 25 to a supporting member 26 having an angular extension '27 that is secured by soldering as shown at 28 to the top of the container 20, the arm being pro vided with an elongated opening 29, and the end of the arm 24 is provided with a narrow opening 31', connecting the outer end of the arm with the elongated opening 29.
It will be apparent that the elongated openings 29 and 29 permit rotation and upward and downward movement relatively I bending the arms on the two sides of theto the container of the screw cap 21, and when the screw cap is removed from the nozzle 22v it will be retained against misplacement. The openings 30, 31 and 31 permit of openings to permit insertion of the stem of the stud 23 into the elongated opening, the.
arms 24 and 24 being made of sheet metal for this purpose.
In Figures 5, 6, and 7 is shown a further modification in which the arm 24 is pivotally mounted as shown at 25" on a supporting member 25 having an inturned angular extension 27"* secured as shown at 28" togthe to dental paste, shaving cream, and other like commodities and provided with a threaded nozzle 22 on which is a threaded cap 21 having a stud that is shown as a bolt 23* secured ification of the attachment and also applied The attachment for mounting the screw cap to a valve cap as used on the valve stems of inner tubes of automobile tires, the valve stem being designated 40 and the screw cap 41, and provided with an integral stud 42.

' the extremities of the wire brought together and bent downwardly as shown at 45 and provided with loops 46 to receive aloop 47 ofa securing member 48 alsoformed of a single strand of wire bent intermediate of its ends to provide the loop, the member 48 being soldered or otherwise secured as shown at 49 to a sleeve 50 enclosing the valve stem 40.
In Figures 12, 13, and 14 is shown a further modification of the attachment as applied to a bottle or like container 51 having a screw cap 52 secured thereto with a stud 53 thereon, the attaching arm being designated 54 and also made of a single strand of wire and to provide an elongated opening 55 to receive the stud 53, the arm 54 having a downturned portion 56 provided with loops 57 that are'cnga ed'by means of a loop 58 on a securing' mem ber 59that is secured around the neck of the bottle. In Figures 15, 16 and 17 another modificationofthe attaching member is shown unapplied to a container, the arm in this form of attachment being made of a single strand 'ofwire alsobent intermediate of its ends,
and-the bent portion again bent inwardly between the opposite strands of the wire to provide an opening 60 in the arm 61 to receive the stemrof a stud, and providing a narrow opening 62 through which the steminay be insertedrintoL the elongated opening 60 by spreading the arms 63 formed by thebent wire as heretofore described. The extremities of the wire are also provided with loops cap, an arm hingedly mounted on the con tainer and provided with an elongated opening-to receive the stud, and the arm also P provided with an opening extending from of a collapsible container 20 adapted to hold an edgether-eofand communicating with the elongated opening for insertion of the stud therein.

In: combination with a container, and aremovable cap therefor, a headed stud on saidcap, an arm hingedly' mounted on the container, said arm being formed of a single strand of wire bent intermediate of its ends, the bent portion being bent inwardly of the adjacent portions of the wire to provide an elongated opening to receive the stud, said opening being reduced in width at the free end of the arm for insertion of the stud in the elongated opening, the free ends of the wire provided with loops, and a retaining member secured to the container and provided with a loop engaging the first mentioned loops.
