This invention relates to folding stands for washing machines, the general object of the invention being to provide a double stand with means for attaching the stand to a part of a washing machine so that when opened the stand will support tubs or the like adjacent the machine and when folded can be swung to a position adjacent one side of the machine where it will be out of the way and when in folded position, the stand can be used as a clothes rack.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the sev eral views, and in which Figure 1 is a view showing the inven ion in open position and attached to a washing machine.

In these drawings, the numeral 1 indi cates a vertically arranged arcuate shaped member having its stem 2 provided with a clamping jaw 3 for engaging the leg 1 of. a washing machine A. The other clamping he washing jaw is shown at 5 and is fastened to the stem 2 by the bolt 6 so thatby tightening this bolt, the member or bracket 1' is clamped to the .power leg. Circular bearings 7 are formed on the ends of the part 1 for receiving the downwardly bent ends 8 of a substantially V-shaped rod 9 so that the rod; is swingingly' supported on the member 1.

The double stand B consists of'the two substantially U shaped frames 10 having the ends of their limbs pivoted to the brackets 11 as shown 211312 and the upper ends of these two brackets are formed with holes 13 for receiving the lower straight part of. the rod 9-.

Four legs 14 are pivoted to the outer ends of the frameslO by the bolts 15 and spacer 16 as clearly shown in Fig. 6 and eachpair of legs is provided with the braces 17. Each .pair of legs is connected to a cross piece 18 on the lower part of the rod 9, by the two part brace'19, the lower part of, which is substantially V-shape, and the two parts of which arepivotally connected together as shown at '20 and lips 21 prevent the brace from breaking in one direction, but permits it to break in the other direction, so that the legs can be folded against the frame as shown in Fig. 8.

Thus it will be seen that I have provided a simple form of double stand which may be used for supporting a pair of tubs adjacent the washing machine, and when the stand is not in use it can be folded upwardly as shown in Fig; .3 and by turning the member 9 on the-member 1, the stand can be placed adjacentthe side of the machine so that it will be out of the way when not in use.

A latch 22 is carried by one of the frames 10 for engaging the other frame, to hold the parts in folded position, as also shown in Fig. 3. When the two part stand is in folded position, it forms a rack, for supporting clothes and the like, and if desired, the clothes can be hung on the device when the same is in unfolded posit-ion as its open work structure will permit this.

It isthought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.

It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. In combination, a bracket adapted to be clamped to a part of a washing machine frame, a horizontal rod pivoted to the bracket for swinging movement in a horizontal plane, a pair of brackets depending from said rod, a pair of table forming frames havingtheir'inner ends pivoted to the said .pair of brackets and extending in opposite directions from said pair of brackets when in horizontal position, said frames being pivoted to the brackets for swinging movement in a vertical plane and foldable legs pivotally connected to the outer ends of said frames. In combination, a bracketadapted to be clamped to a part of a washing machine frame, a horizontal rod pivoted to the bracket for swinging movement in a horizontal plane, a pair of brackets depending from said rod, a pair of table forming frames having their inner ends pivoted to the said .pair of brackets and extendingin opposite directions from said pair of brackets when in horizontal position, said frames being pivoted to the brackets for swinging .movement in a vertical plane and foldable legs pivotally connected to the outer ends of said frames, a cross-piece on an intermediate part of the rod and foldable braces each having one end connected to an end of the cross piece and its other end connected with a leg.
