TABLE OR SHELF FOR A STOVE Filed Sept. 20, 1952 Inventor f1 llorney Patented Mar. 28, 1933 UNITED STATES BILTON IB. GOINGB, OF EXPORT, PENNSYLVANIA TABLE on SHELF FOR A s'rovn Application filed September 20, 1932. Serial No. 634,068.
This invention relates to a table or shelf for a stove, the general object of the invention being to proyide a table or. shelf for a stove which can be easily attached to the stove or removed therefrom, and which can be used for supporting articles adjacent the stove, thus eliminating one having to walk back and forth from the stove to a cupboard or the like with pots, pans, and the like.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawin and specifically pointed out in the appende claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or" corresponding parts throughout'the several views, and in which Figure 1 is an upper perspective view showing the invention in use on a stove. a
Fig. 2 is a lower perspective view.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the table or shelf.
Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Fig. 5 is a section on line 5-5 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 6 is a view of the brace supports.
In the drawin the numeral 1 indicates the table or shelf liaving its corners rounded, and its edges grooved to provide the rib 8 on the upper .face which not only acts to strengthen .the table or shelf but also pre vents articles from slidin or falling therefrom. One side of the ta 1e is formed with the extension members 9 having hooks 10 at their .free ends for engaging portions of the top of the stove as shown in Figs. 1 and 5 with a side edge of the table or shelf engaging a part of a side edge of the top part of the stove, as also shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 5. A pair of brace supports'2, preferably made of steel wire, supports the compression from a load placed on the table or shelf, the tension being taken care of by the members 9. The brace supports 2 are connected together by the clamp rod 3 and one limb of each member 2 is substantially straight and extends upwardly and outwardly from the bight part 4 and the otheror upper limb is bowed downwardly as shown. The extremity of each limb is bent into substantially hook-shape to engage any desired perforation of a row of perforations formed in an angle bar 6, a pair of which is suitably connected to the under face of the table or shelf, such as by rivets 7. Of course the bars 6 can be fastened to the table in any other suitable manner.
The bight parts of the two members 2 have the tubular members4 thereon which are formed of rubber or the like and pressed agalns-t the side of the stove, as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 5, to prevent the brace members from marring the stove.
It will of course be understood that the device can be used on any kind of a stove, such as coal, gas and electric stoves and it will also be seen that the device can be easily and quickly placed on the stove'or removed therefrom and that the device can be manufactured to sell at low cost. The brace members can be adjusted to suit the stove on which the device is placed, due to their detachable connection to the perforated bars 6, and thedevicewill save a housewife or cook a great deal of work as it eliminates walking back and forth from the stove to a cupboard or the like and carrying pots and Paris from the stove to the cupboard or from the cupboard to the stove, as the articles can be placed on the table.
It is thought from the foregoing description that -the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement, of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is An attachment for a stove comprising a table, hook members connected ,to one side of the table and having their hook portions engaging parts of the stove, a pair of strips connected with the'under side of the table and each having a depending part providedwith a longitudinally extending row of holes, a pair of brace members, each of substantially U-shape, and having a substantially straight vertically arranged bight and the limbs extending upwardly and outwardly from the bight with one limb longer than the other andv both limbs having their free ends bent to engage certain holes in the strips, the bight portions resting against a side of the stove and a bar having bent ends engaging the lower limbs of the U-sha ,d members for holding said members toget er in spaced relation.
In testimony whereof I affix in Si ature.
