This invention relates to improvements in combined plug receptacle and warning light fixtures.
An object of the invention is to simphf the construction and facilitateassembly 0 the parts of devices of the aforementioned character.
Another object is rovide a combined device of the aforementioned character the parts of which are so compactly arranged that the device as a whole may be mounted 1n an outlet box of the size ordinarily intended for reception of a single plug receptacle, thus effecting an economy in the. amount of material required and rendering the device very neat and attractive in appearance.
Another object is to providenovel means for supporting the jewel or bulls-eye with respect to the ace plate of the device.
Another object is to provide a novel form and arrangement of the lamp and plug receiving contacts of the device.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear.
The accompanying drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention which will now be described, it being understood thatthe device illustrated is susceptible of modification in certain details thereof without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a top plan view of a combined plug.receptacle and warning light fixture constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, the lamp bulb and the face plate and jewel being shown in position.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view, in separated relation, of the several parts of the device illustrated in Fig. 2.

Referring to the drawing,'the numeral 10 designates 1n general the molded insulating base of the device. Said base is preferably of substantiall rectangular contour, and as best shown in ig. 5 the lower surface thereof is recessed to a predetermined depth and Extending radially in conformity with the vertical sides of the base, as indicated at 11, thus leaving a relatively thin wall 12 around said recess. The

Adapted to seat within recess 22 is a punched sheet metal member 24,- said member having an integral arm 25 which is likewise adapted to seat within the branch 23 ments 13,14, 15 and 16 each enlargementof said recess. The integral ring-shaped end 26 of member 24 is offset upwardly therefrom, as indicated at 27. The inner ed e of said ring is provided with a substantia yrectangular notch 28, and the area 29 radial to said notch is bent as shown to ofiset the adjacent ends of the inner edge 30 of said ring.
As best shown in Fig. 2 the ring 26 is positioned within recess 17 at a. point adacent to the shoulder 18 of the latter, and the same is adapted to receive and retain the threaded shell contact 31 of a lamp bulb 32. Integralwith and preferably extruded upwardly from the member 24 at the point illustrated is a stud or projection 33, said stud being adapted to penetrate a rforation in the horizontal foot portion 0 an upwardly extending reflexed resilient contact 34, .said stud being riveted over said foot portion (as shownin Fig. 2-) ,to rigidly secure said contact to member 24.
Extending upwardly from recess 22 is arecess 35 of substantially rectangular form T blade contacts of a plug cap cated within a su shoulder 36 adapted, to overlie the reflexed portion 37 of said contact, and one wall 38 of said recess being preferably inclined to facilitate insertion of said contact. As shown the upper pprtion of recess is 10- stantially elli tical portion 39 of insulating material w ich is integral withand extends a substantial distance above the upper surface 21 of the base, said portion 39 having an opening 40 to provide access to the contact 34 of one of the not shown). Also extending upwardly om recess 22 and projecting laterally therebe end is a recess 41 which is likewise of substantially rectangular form in cross section, and said recess is provided with a shoulder 42 adapted to overlie the reflexed end .43 of a resilient contact member 44 the horizontal foot portion of which is rigidly secured to the upwardly ofi'set end portion 45 of a punched sheet metal member 46 as by means of the spectivel ed to yie upset integral projection 47 on the latter.
Integral with and extending laterally at a right angle from member 46 is an arm or branch 48 which is adapted to seat within a correspondingly shaped branch 49 of recess 22, the horizontal wall of branch recess 49 being ofiset downwardly with respect to the horizontal wall of recess 22. interposed between the metal members 24 and 46 and insulated'therefrom. as by means of a pair of relatively thin substantially rectangular insulating plates 50 and 51 is the horizontal portion 52 of a resilient metal strip, said plates being slightly shorter than the recess 22 in base 10 whereby the same may be ofiset endwise with respect to each other u on as sembly of the parts. One end of said strip is bent upwar ly and then reflexed downwardly to provide a relatively short auxiliary contact 53 which is adapted to underlie the shoulder 54 formed in recess 41 and to also underlie the aforementioned reflexed contact 43.

Underlying the base 10 and substantially conforming to the shape thereof is a relatively thin plate 64 of fiber or other suitable tough or slightly flexible insulating material, said plate having perforations ada ted to register with the passages in the a orementioned corners 13, 14, 15 and 16of base 10. Screws 65, 66, 67 and 68 are respectively adapted to penetrate said perforations and passages and to take into pairs of tapped openings in the supporting ln s 69 and 70, which may be of any desire shape, said lugs as shown of plaster or wallengaging portions 69 and 7 0. The base 10, bottom plate 64 and lugs 69 and 70 are thus Erigidly secured to each other, and the device may therefore be attached in the usual manner to an outlet box or similar support.

As an article of manufacture, a punched sheet metal member having a fiat body portion and a ring-shaped end inte al therewith but oifset upwardly there rom, said ring-shaped portion having asubstantiall rectangular notch inathe inner edge thereo the portions of said ring adjacent to said notch being offset relatively to each other, said member having a stud extendingfrom the body portion thereof, and a refiexed re-' silient contact having a perforated fdotpor- 131011130 cooperate with said stud and over which the latter is upset to secure said contact to said member, said body'portion being perforated at a point between said refiexed contact and said ring-shaped-end to provide for attachment of said member to a suitable support.
