Description
April 16, 1935;. F. E. TUCKER 1,998,033 7 MEANS FOR REPAIRING SCREENS Filed Sept. 18, 1934 2 Sheets-Sheet 1 Inventor l rresiflicw i Attorney April 16, 1935. F. E. TUCKER MEANS FOR REPAIRING SCREENS Filed Sept. 18, 1934 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Inventor Patented Apr. 16, 1935 UNITED, STATES MEANS FOR REPAIRING SCREENS Forrest E. Tucker, Berthold, N. Dak.
Application September 18,1934, Serial No. 744,572 7 4 Claims.
The present invention relates to means for repairing screens that is the wire mesh used in ment of parts as will hereinafterbe more fully 15 described and claimed.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a fragmentary elevation of a screen showing my device attached thereto.
Figure 2 is a front elevation of the device.
Figure 3 is a rear elevation thereof.
Figure 4 is an edge elevation of the device.
Figure 5 is a sectional view through the device taken substantially on the line 55 of Figure 2.
Figure 6 is a horizontal sectional view taken substantially on the line 6-6 of Figure 2.
Figure 7 is a perspective view of the frame of the device, and
Figure 8 is a perspective view of the strip.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the frame is formed from a single strand of resilient wire bent to provide a circularlike bight portion 5 the ends of which merge to substantially spaced parallel coextensive arms 6 which merge into convolutes l and the convolutes I merge into pin extensions 8 the terminals of which are bent outwardly as indicatedat 9. The convolutes 1 tension the pin like extensions 8 toward the body or bight of the frame.
The ends 9 are bent outwardly to facilitate the engagement of the frame with the mesh wire of the screen. In order to strengthen the device a strip as shown in Figure 8 has its ends bent over upon itself as indicated at H particularly in Figure 6 about the arms 6. Wire mesh I2 is soldered or otherwise fixed to the body or bight and the armsfi of the frame.
This device may be manufactured in'various sizes. When there is a hole in the screen or the like the pin like extensions are inserted through the mesh wire above thehole so that the mesh wire l2 covers the hole as illustrated to advantage in Figure 1.
It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a moredetailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has 5 been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and theabove description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in' the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
What is claimed is: V
1. A device of the class described comprising a frame formed from a single strand of wire bent to provide an open body having a pair of pin like members extending there-alongside and mesh wire across the body. v
2. A device of the class described comprising a frame formed from a single strand of wire bent to provide an open body having a pair of pin like members extending there-alongside and mesh wire acrossthe body, the pin like members being connected with the body by means of convolutes stressed to urge the pin like members toward the body.
3. A device of the class described comprising a frame formed from a single strand of wirebent to provide an open body having a pair of pin like members extending there-alongside and mesh wire across the body, the pin like members being connected with the body by means of convolutes stressed to urge the pin like members toward the body, said pin like members terminating in outwardly disposed curved terminals.
4. A device of the class described comprising a frame formed from a single strand of wire bent to provide an open body having a pair of pin like members extending there-alongside and mesh wire across the body, the pin like members being connected with the body by means of convolutes stressed to urge the pin like members .toward the body, said pin like members terminating in outwardly disposed curved terminals, a strengthen-Q ing strip across the body and engaged therewith. 5O
FORREST E. TUCKER.
