The invention relates to receptacles and is particularly adapted to be embodied in safes, illing l'devices and other receptacles adapted to hold valuables, records, or the like. I A One form of the invention is embodied in a tiling device which comprises a fire-proof housing or safe-body. The fire-proof housing or safebody has an opening in its top and is provided with a thermally insulated door therefor, the door t l0 being provided with tongues and grooves which extend around all of its edges and are engageable with corresponding tongues and lgrooves inthe door jamb of the housing so .that heatcannot L readily penetrate into the housing'to destroy or l l5 injure the contents. The back edge of the door is i, pivoted to a. vertical slide mounted-m back of the f housing or safe-body.
