When the closure plate 70 is in an extended position as shown in Fig. 4 it forms a closure for -the discharge aperture 66 of the discharge hopper 62 and in a. closed position as shown in Fig. 5 the lip 72 thereof engageslthe wallof the cabinet leaving the discharge aperture unobstructed.
Mounted on the end wall 64 of the discharge hopper 62 I provide a latch member 73 of any desired' type including a spring pressed bolt 74 which 'projects downwardly below the bottom of in the closure plate 70 adjacent the lip 72 I provide an aperture 75 (see Fig.6). When the discharge hopper 62 is in a closed position the latch bolt 74 enters the aperture 75 V-in'the closure plate and when thedischarge hopper is moved outward the closure plate 70 is moved with it.- When it is desired toi-move the closureplate away from below the d'ischargeaperture 66 of the vdischarge hopper the latch bolt 741s moved upward 70 moved towards the cabinet. Onthe front member 50 of the discharge drawer 48 I provide `a catch mechanism- -76 ofv any desired type including a spring pressed bolt 77 which projects downward below the bottom of the drawer 48 (see Fig. 7). In4 one side of the latch casingI provide a horizontal aperture 78 which communicates with the aperture 79 in which the operating pin 80 operates. Thus when the drawer`48V is moved outward the discharge hopper 62' will be moved outward by thel latch bolt 77. Thereaften'by positioning the operating pin 80 of the latch 76 in the aperture 78 to retain the bolt.77 ina raised'position the drawer 48 may be moved to ay fully extended'position and toa'A closed position without interfering with the discharge hopper 62.y A

The upper ends of the legs 83 are secured to four angle members-85 havinghorizontal webs 86 andl vertical webs 87 (see Fig. 4). The horizontal webs 86 are positioned at the bottomA of theangles and extends inwardly. The lower portion of the cabinet 12. fits withinv the vertical webs of` theangles 85 and the bottom ofthe cabinet rests konA the horizontal webs 86. Adjacent the closure plate 70 a vertical web 87 is cut away as indicated at 88 to allow for the lip v72.
Mounted upon the rear wall 16, I show a bracket 87 which supports a semi-cylindrical ring member 88. -Quadrantal ring members 89 are `mounted on the member 88 by pivots 90 and a clamping iscrew` 91 serves to hold the ring member in;cylindrical form. `A measuring receptacle 92 -is adapted vto be removably held in place in the ring .member and this receptacle is provided with a ange .93 adjacent the lower end. In use the operator places a paper bag under the chute 63 and pulls out the drawer 48. 'Ihe amount of goods in the drawer will move along with the drawer and be discharged into the chute 63 and thus passes into the paper bag.
The device is operated with the latch bar 74 raised so that the closure plate 70 remains in its inner position and with the latch bar raised so that it will not engage the chute 63. With the closure 70 in its inward position it will be noneiective to close communication through the chute. n
When the measuring receptacle 92 .is to be used the bag is placed below 98 thereof and thus equal measuring may be secured.
If desired a suitable electrically operated heat element may be placed on the underside of the walls of the hopper channel and also container 27 may have its upper end removable if desired.
From the foregoing description it will be apparent that I have invented a novel vending cabinet which can be economically manufactured and which is highly eicient in use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. In a vending cabinet, a hopper, a slidable open bottom drawer communicating with said hopper when said drawer is closed, means on said drawer closing said hopper when said drawer is open, a slidable plate closing the bottom of said drawer when said drawer is closed, and an open bottom chute slidable beneath said drawer, said slidable plate elo-sing the top of said chute when the chute is in a retracted position.
2. In a vending device, a cabinet, a hopper positioned in said cabinet, a drawer slidably mounted in said cabinet and movable toward the container 27 rear of said cabinet, said drawer having an open tom of the discharge chute, and a measuring container beneath the bottom of the discharge chute when the latter is extended. I
3. In a vending cabinet, a hoppena slidable open bottom drawer communicating with said hopper when said drawer is closed, means closing said hopper when said drawer is open, means closing the bottom of said drawerwhen said drawer is closed, an open bottom chute slidable beneath said drawer, said last mentioned means closing the top of said chute when the chute is in a retracted position and a closure for the bottom of said chute when the chute is extended.
4. In a vending cabinet including a storage compartment and hopper positioned below said storage compartment, a slidable drawer having an opening therethrough and communicating with said hopper when said drawer is in a closed position and a plate on said drawer closing said hopper when said drawer is in an open position, a second plate mounted on said cabinet and extending along the bottom of said drawer below said opening when said drawer is in a closed position, a dispensing chute movably mounted below plate when the chute is in the cabinet and a slidable closure for' the bottom of said dispensing-` chute. 5. In a vending cabinet including a storage compartment and hopper positioned below-said,l
storage compartment, a slidable drawer having an opening therethrough and communicating with said hopper when said drawer is in a closed position and a plate on said drawer closing said hopper when said drawer is in an open position, a second plate mounted on said cabinet and eX- tending along the bottom of said drawer below said opening when said drawer is in a closed position, a dispensing chute slidable below said drawer, said chute being closed by said second mentioned plate when the chute is in a closed position and a catch on said drawer adapted'to engage said chute.
6. In a vending cabinet including a storage A compartment and hopper positioned below said storage compartment, a slidable drawer having an opening therethrough and communicating with said hopper wheny said drawer is in a closed position and a plate on said drawer closing said hopper when said drawer is in an open position, a second plate mounted on said cabinet and extending along the bottom of said drawer below said opening when said drawer is in a kclosed position, a dispensing chute slidable below said drawer, said chute being closed by said second mentioned plate when the chute is in a closed position, a slidable closure for the bottom of said dispensing chute and a catch on said chute adapted to engage said slidable closure. n

In a vending device, a cabinet, a display compartment above the cabinet and communicating therewith, a hopper in said cabinet, a drawer slidably mounted in said cabinet and movable toward the rear of said cabinet, said drawer having an open top .and bottom, the rear wall of said hopper terminating above the top of the drawer, the other walls of said hopper terminating substantially flush with the top of the drawer, a holder plate mounted beneath said drawer and adapted to close saiddrawer bottom, means on said drawer to close the hopper when the drawer y is withdrawn, a-discharge chute having an open top and bottom slidably mounted beneath'said drawer, a closure plate slidably mounted and adapted to close the bottom of the discharge chute, a catch on said discharge chute adapted to engage said closure plate, a latch on said drawer adapted to engage said chute, a measuring container secured to said cabinet beneath the bottom of the discharge chute when the latter is open, and a dispensing closure for the measuring
