The single figure of the accompanying drawing is a vertical sectional elevation taken through the needle cylinder and its supporting and adjusting means of the mechanism forming the subject matter of the present invention and the cooperation of such mechanism withthe other elements of the machine for attaining'the desired result.

. By loosening the screws 20, 20 and by "rotating the cylinder-adjusting ring 16 within the cylinder-carrying ring 9 axial-shifting of the cylinder 11 may be readily effected. After the predetermined position of the cylinder 11 is obtained the cylinder may be secured in said position merely by tightening the screws 20, 20 which, by clamping the cylinder 11 tightly against the adjusting ring 16, prevents accidental rotation of the ring whereby the predetermined position of the cylinder 11 is maintained indefinitely.
If desired, the cylinder 11' may be entirely removed from the machine by removing the screws 8, 8 which secure the carrying ring 9 in position in ing ring 9, the adjustingring 16 and the cylinder 11 may be dropped through the base ring 6 and hollow annular support 2. j e
The peripheral surface of the flange 15 on the adjusting ring 16 has-a snug fitting bearing in and against the circular peripheral wall of the counterbore 13 in the cylindercarrying ring 9 which at all times keeps the upper cylinder- 40 '16 in thering 9,.f-
