The chief object of this invention is to provide a handle cup which is so arranged that the cup 5 body may be of relatively light material and which the provision of a cup provided with a peripheral band secured in peripheral arrangement to the cup and portions of said band projecting from the cup to form a handle and being secured together a for increasing the stock and strength of the handle.
Another'feature of the invention consists in the formation of the band as a single strip and the association of the free ends of the strip together as the handle portion.
Another feature of the invention consists in the formation of the handle from a straight strip and its association with a conical cup, whereby the handle forming strip is arranged in biased relation relative to the exterior of the cup so that the separating strain in the strip is angular to the handle portion of the strip and the biased positioning of the strip is such that the side wall of the cup near the bottom is reenforced by said strip strip.
The full nature of the invention will be understood from the accompanying drawing and the following specification and claims:-
In the drawing, Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the completed article constituting the handle of the cup.
Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged plan view of a straight strip adapted to form the biased reenforcing band when applied to a conical cup and the handle portion for said cup.
In thedrawing, 10 indicates the side wall of a conical cup and 11 the bottom thereof. The cup may or may not'be provided with a lip. Herein the lip is shown omitted. There is provided a straight strip 13 of the desired length and having, if desired, a scored connection 14 at each end with to a longitudinal element of the strip.
The ends of the flaps are suitably formed and include an inclined edge 15, an arcuate intermediate edge 16, an inclined straight edge 17 and 5 the edge 18 which in alignment with the bottom of the strip, the bottom edge being indicated by the numeral 20. The top edge of the strip is indicated by the numeral 21.

strip is arranged to peripherally envelope the same and eX-' teriorly, and is provided peripherally with adhesive on the entire inner surface of the strip so that the strip is adhesively secured substantially throughout its entire area which is with the cup.

The invention claimed is:--
1. A handle cup including a conical cup body and an exterior encircling band terminating in a radially projecting handle, the band portion be ing peripherally secured to the body in biased relation thereabout.
2. A handle cup including a conical cup body and a handle projecting radially therefrom, comprising a single strip, peripherally secured to the cup body in biased relation thereabout, the free ends of said strip projecting from the body adjacent each other and being secured together to form a handle of double strength.
3. A handle cup including a cup body and an exterior encircling band terminating in a radially projecting handle, the band portion being peripherally secured to the body in biased relation t-hereabout.
4. A handle cup including a cup body and a handle projecting radially therefrom, comprising a single strip, peripherally secured to the cup body in biased relation thereabout, the free ends of. said strip projecting from the body adjacent each other and being secured together to ,form a handle of double strength.
5. A handle cup including a conical cup body and an exterior encircling band terminating in a radially projecting handle, said band being formed from a straight strip and being secured in biased relation to the cup body with the surplus portion of the'bafnd forming a radially projecting handle of double strength.
