After the cover 30 is wound about the core B and the reenforcing bar C, as shown in Fig. 4, the

My invention is also applicable to a post type of handle. A post type of handle is known in the trade to be a handle substantially the shape of an inverted U, wherein theends are substantially perpendicular to the center portion.

Although I have not specifically described a groove extending longitudinally from one end, of my handle to the other end,- as I have described in my copending patent application Serial No. 593,286, it is to be understood that a longitudinally extending groove may be placed on theuppermost portion of the core and my present; invention embodied together with such a core.

It is, also, to be observed that the hereinbefore described invention eliminates all need for stitching the longitudinally extending edges of the cover together which is a prime consideration of my present invention.

Although the invention has been described in considerable detail, such description is intended as illustrative rather than limiting, as the inventionmay be variously embodied, and the scope of the invention is to be determined as claimed.

I claim: 1.'
