The parent German Patent 506,357 issued September 3, 1930, jointly to applicant and Dr. Moser is concerned with an antenna arrangement comprising shielding against rear radiation by re- 5 flector wires, in which the constituent aerial wires and the constituent reflector wires are united each by an energy lead and are tuned. This scheme further comprises a coupling device adapted to regulate the energy supplied to or removed from the reflector as regards its amplitude and phase.
Instead of coupling both reflector and antenna directly or else by way of an energy lead or line with the transmitter or the receiver, as the case may be, coupling means between the antenna and the reflector are provided according to the present invention, and the joint aerial conductor system is coupled with the transmitter or the receiver, according to the case.
This novel scheme is illustrated in the drawing, where A the antenna, R the reflector, CA, LA, L'A the antenna tuning and coupling means, CR, LR, the tuning and coupling means of the reflector, and where LE, CE the tuning and coupling means of the transmitter, the receiver or the energy feed line.
By the aid of tuning and coupling means of antenna and reflector it is possible to secure the improved shielding arrangement disclosed in the parent patent specification in a simpler manner.

I claim:
1. A directional antenna system comprising an antenna and a reflector, a transformer comprising a first winding and a second winding variably coupled together, said refiector being connected through said second winding to ground, a second transformer comprising a first and a second winding variably coupled together, one of said last windings being connected to high frequency apparatus, said antenna being connected to ground through said first winding of said first transformer and through the other winding of said second transformer in series.
2. A directional antenna system comprising an antenna and a reflector, a transformer comprising a first winding and. a second winding variably coupled together, said reflector being connected through said second winding to ground, a second transformer comprising a first and a second winding variably coupled together, one of said last windings being connected to high frequency apparatus, said antenna being connected to ground through said first winding of said first transformer and through the other winding of said second transformer in series, and variable condensers in said antenna and reflector circuits connected in series with the respective associated transformer windings.
