Patented June .19, 11934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE My present invention pertains to ranges and it contemplates the provision of a range that is provided with a top that is entirely made of heavy, polished and re-enforced cast iron, in sections,
the front section of which has a rolled edge to protect the gas manifold, valves and mixers from grease and breakage.
Furthermore, the manifold and other elements are further inclosedon the under side with a curved removable metal sheet so that the and handles are only preceptible. I
My invention further provided a gas burner that is of the wide mouth hot blast type provided with integral mixers.
valves Further provisions ,of my invention will be fully understood from the following description and claims when the same are read in connection with the drawings. accompanying and forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my novel range.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal vertical section there- Figure 3 is a top plan view of my novel device.
5 Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view taken in the plane indicated by the line of 4-4 Figure 2.
Figure 5 is ,a perspective view of the burner flues.
Figure 6 is a similar view of Figure 5. Figure '7 is a detail view of my novel spring construction.
Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the views of the drawings. My novel range is indicated as a whole by 1 having the usual top 2, sides 3 and rear 4 as well as the front 5 and usual gas pipe 6. The gas pipe is provided with valves 7 and the Bunsen burners 8. The top side is composed of a series of plate sections 9 each having an opening normally closed by a plate 10-. Side walls 11 depend from the plate sections 10 and baffles 12 depend from said plate sections. The plates also have abutting feet 13.
Arranged below the plate sections 10 are the fiue confining plates 14 each having flanges 15 that are secured to the walls 11 by means of the bolts 16 while arranged below the plates 14 are rods 1'7 adapted to support the burners before referred to. I provide the confining plates 18 that are also provided with orifices 19 that communicate with flues 20. This flue 20 is in communication with a stack 21 that in turn communicates with the bottom of the range 22. Provided in the lower end of the range is a bottom 23 having burners 24 that are also provided with a valve handle 24 and above the burners 24 are ribbed bafiles 25 that terminate in a shelf 26. Mounted above the shelf 26 is a plate 2'7 having orifices 28 that communicate with the flue 20 by 0 means of an opening 29.
The stove is also provided with a door 30 hinged at 31 and the said door is manually opened by means of a handle 32 at 33.
Arranged so as to co-act with the rod 33 at tached to the door 30 is an eye-bolt 35 having an eye 34 that in turn is provided with a rod 38 spring-backed at 3'7. This rod 35 is fixed at 36 so that when action is impounded on the handle 32 pressure will be exerted on the spring 39 so as to throw the door 30 back to its normal position when pressure is released from the handle 32. The spring pressure construction comprises an off-set or baflle that bears against said spring and confines same in a barrel or bayonet confining means illustrated in Figure 7.
The lower end of the door comprises the hinged cover 40 that in turn is provided with the longitudinal slots 41 on Figure 1 My novel range as illustrated and described comprises a front that in turn consists of an oven manifold mixer and door hinge and the combined construction manifestly co-acts to produce a stove of the type illustrated that at once produces the highest type of combustion in stove construction.
Particular attention is invited to the fact that the pot shelf on the back of my novel range is made of a single piece of welded material in which no brackets are employed. This is a highly desirable construction because it eliminates dirt crevices and square corners for the accumulation of grease and other foreign matter and provides a sanitary arrangement.
What I'claim is:
1. A stove comprising a body having a top provided with a down rolled forward edge, an upwardly rolled sheet arranged below the first mentioned rolled edge and spaced therefrom, a valve controlled pipe located between the rolled edge and said sheet, a burner connected with said pipe, a top section comprising a top plate, spaced side plates depending from said top plate, a bottom plate attached to the side plates and spaced below the top plate, baffle members depending from the top plate and having lower edges spaced above the bottom plate and the discharge end of said burner being received in the space between the top plate, side plates, and bottom plate of said top section.
2. A top section for a range comprising a top plate, side plates depending from the top plates, a bottom plate having side flanges attached to the inner surfaces of the side plates, baflles carried between said plates and a cross-rod carried
