the parts being fashioned and assembled with facility, and the completed stand preferably hav- 1 0 ing a front Wall inclinedupwardly `and'rear- Wardly with channels thereon to receivethe packagesY or boxes. Each channelpreferablyhas an open front sol that the boxes! .or packages thereinare conspicuously displayed.. Each of the. channels'` also'preferably has aty itsgbottoma dispei'ising member easily operated' to permit the lowerl mostpackage or box in eachchannel todrop by gravity onto a'surfae at `thebase of the'stand. The complete objects .andfadvantages of; the invention will be specifically pointed` out and re,- ferred toV during the course'o'f the following detailed descriptionof vthe accompanying drawing, inwhch I I V.
Fig. 1 is a front elevatonfofthe stand ing. the invention; a y f j y Y Fig. 2 isasectional viewftakenv on the line 2 2l weer; n
Fig. 3] is. a rear elevation of the stand shown in Fig.1; Fig. tis aperspective View. of the standshown in Fig.,'1'` lookingiromthe side and rear; and.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view o f one of'thechannel members. n.
In the'drawing, the
embodyf numeral l I designates the 35 inclined ront'wall of one blank lforming part of the stand, said blank alsov having substantially triangular sideA Walls 7, the rear edgesof which are preferably bent in as shownin Fig. 4 to provide a smoothsurface."` The side walls 7 .eachhave a lateralvange 8l at their bottoms andthe front wall 6A preferably has. a similar angeQ."
The flanges 8 and 9 rest.v on a baserlO, the rear portion of. Which is bent. up. to form ashort back wall. 11 disposed between the sides. 7 and'having ears 12 extending in toward. the front Wall 6v and secured ,to the side Walls 7. by rivets 173. The rear Wall llaffords or imparts rigidity tothestructure. The side. edges or ends of the base lare folded over the flanges 8 as indicated at 14 in Fig. 3, andmby the. dotted lines` and.d irections of the arrow in Fig. 4, to further securethe baseto the sides.` The'forvvard or front end of' the-base 1U is' folded upon itself and bentup to forma stop 15 for the purpose hereinafter explained.
Theu'pper partofthe 'wall 6 is bent forwardly walls '21"are. spaced apart' adistance substanto provide a horizontally disposed. portion 16. substantiallyparallel withy the base 10, and thenis bent upwardly to provide atop 17, which kmay bevv of. anyfshape and dimensions. As illustrated, top
17 may contain and prominently display adver-` tising matter, and, if desired, particular trademarksridentifying the goods which. the' vstand` contains.v vf Y 5 The parts of the stand thus far described whenk assembled. are readyffto receive the supporting channels indicatedA generally bythe numeral'18 in Fig. Sand-the dispensing member hereinafter described. Each ofthe channels 18 isalso preferably formed of sheet metal' fashioned. t0. 1011-V vide acurved lower Wall. 19, which, when themA stand has twofdispensing' channels as shown v tho drawing, is., substantianyhalf the width of? the frontfwalland'of a length to terminate substantially at the. abutment 15. Above the wall 19. is anotherglat Wall 20 having integral sides 2K1. bent atY substantially vright angles thereto and parallel to eachother, rand each bent upon itself atv its forward edgeas indicated at 22 andtherr into substantial-parallelism with the Wall 20. The
tially the same as the length ofthe packages or boxes to be supported, andthe flanges 22v are spaced from the walls' `2li) a distance substantially equalA to the thickness of-v the.V packages or. bones,` so that the vboxes. may be `inserted from the top ask hereinafter. explained,fand..l maintained in alind columns. A .n Adjacent `their lower ends, the' walls,21 are" provided Withears 23, each.` provided vwith an; opening 2.4to receive Aa pin(l 25`onvwhich is jour- 90 naled adispensing member 26, Each dispensing member 26 has inwardly projecting fingers: 27 at its top and 28 at ritswbettorn', and aleaf lspring 29` is. rigidlyv secured' at its approximate` center to the inner Wall of themembers 26 with its. ends normally bearing against one ot Athe `ianges 22v tornaintain the dispensing member in the'full line position shown inv Fig. 2 `with the fingers 284 extending inwardly to adjacent thev Wall 20, so that. the. lowermo'st box or package will beil sup'- 100 ported thereon. In this position of the dispensing member, Vthe upper fingers 27 are spaced from the wall 20 'adistan'ce substantially. equal to the thickness oir-the packages or containers.. Ob-vvi'ously, when theupper end of lthe plate I26 is 105 pushedtoWard 'the Wall 20,'. the fingers 27 will j assume the dotted `line position of `Fig. 2, sup-Y porting the box or container immediately above l the lowermost one;` and the lower.fingers 28; will be ymover-l1ou't to the vdottedl line .position permit# 110 ting the lowermost package to slide down the front wall 19 into engagement with the stop 15, so that it may be removed. When the iront wall is released the spring automatically returns the 5 plate 26 to the full line'position of Fig. 2, so that the fingers 27 release the box or container which they were holding and permit the lsame and the. column of boxes to slide down, so that the lowermost will be again supported by the fingers 28. To secure the channel members 1S to the stand, the portion 16 is provided with openings 30, and the wall 20 of each channel members is provided at its top with a flap 31 andonesidewall 21 is provided with a flap 32. -The openings 30 are l5 substantially of the same dimensions as the outer dimensions of the channel membersl, Yso that the channel members may be inserted into the openings into the full line position shown in Fig.
4 and the aps 31 and 32 bent down, the former againstthe Wall (i and the latter againstthe wall 16.' To anchor the Abottoms of the'channelrnembers to the `s tand, t he walls 19 of the channel members have frmedjthereon tongues 33 and the wall has slots 34 through which the tongues 33 `are inserted, after which the tongues are bent up flatlylagainst the walll 6; Thus, the channel members are firmly held on the wall `6 with their top edges disposed in the openings and above A the lower edgelof the wall 17.
30 It should be obvious from the foregoing, that a veryrigid and sturdy display 'andy dispensing stand may be made-'from relatively light or thin metal sheets, the stand vresemblingaunitary ors .integral structure. The latter feature is due par-- 25 l ticula rly to the fact that the fianges 14 are substantially flush with the walls 6, and the outer edges of theiwalls 1 9 and the upper ends of the chutes are concealed from the front, being dis` posed behind the top 17 inthe openings 30.
40' The boxes or containers are insertedl inthe chutes through the openings -30 from the rear of the stand and slide down the chutes until the lowermost 'engages' the ngers 28` which supends, a second sheet on which said flanges and front wal1rest,said second sheet projecting forwardlybeyond said front wall and being bent up at its forward end and also being folded over the j iianges on the side walls to secure vsaid parts together, a channel member on the front of said f ,rontwall terminating above said second sheet to contain boxes and the like, and a dispensing member at the lower end of said channel member j to hold the boxes therein in a column and operable to dispense them from said'channel member.
