' 1 Claim. (01. 15-245) My invention is adapted for use in swipes commonly used for the cleaning of Windshields but may be used with equal facility in squeegees, used for the washing and cleaning of a polished surface, such as plate glass and the like.

The invention is comprised primarily of one piece of rubber or rubber composition material adapted for placement within the holder and for being removably disposed therein. A holder extends longitudinally of the body element to increase the cushioning and contacting effect of the device with the surface over which the same is to be manipulated.

The object of my invention is to comprise a 13 squeegee of a single piece that will be adapted for having a number of meeting surfaces with the surface to be cleaned, to increase its operating cleaning efficiency.

A further object of my invention consists in 80 providing a holder for the rubber portion of the squeegee that does away with screwed fastenings.

A still further object of my invention consists in providing a squeegee that may be efficiently used over relatively rough surfaces.

8 With these and incidental objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination of parts, the essential elements of which are set forth in the appended claim, and a preferred form of embodiment of which is hereinafter shown with reference to the drawing which accompanies and forms a part of this specification.

Fig. 1 is a perspective, end view .of the holder and the squeegee disposed therein.

Fig. 2 is a sectional, end view of the device illustrated in Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is an end view of the squeegee, being operated over the surface and illustrating a plurality of cleaning edges of the squeegee engaging the surface to be' cleaned.

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary, side view of the squeegee, being operated over a relatively rough surface.

Fig. 5 is a fragmentary, perspective, end view of the squeegee shown removed from the holder.

Like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the several views.

I preferably form my device of a holder 1 having substantially parallel surfaces 2 and 3, each of the side walls of the legs of the holder having projections 4 and 5 extending inwardly from the inner surface for engaging the squeegee and holding the same in place.

The squeegee comprises a single elongated piece of rubber material, having flat parallel marginal portions 6 and '7; and a central corrugated portion 8 formed parallel with the marginal portions 6 and 7. The center section is of greater thickness than the marginal portions and is formed on one of its sides with the corrugations. The side of the center section opposite the corrugations is of concave formation. The flat marginal portions are adapted to be brought together, as shown in Figure 2, and inserted between the side walls of the holder and firmly held therein by the projections 4 and 5. In this position an opening 9 is formed longitudinally of the folded sheet immediately above the corrugated portion. When the squeegee is compressed upon the surface to be cleaned and over which the same is to be operated, a plurality of points engage the surface and clean the same, the points collecting moisture therebetween, which automatically drains from the squeegee and more efficiently and quickly cleans the surface over which the same is to be operated.

While the form of device herein shown and described is admirably adapted to fulfill the objects primarily stated, it is to be understood that it is not intended to confine the invention to the one form of embodiment herein shown and described, as it is susceptible of embodiment in various forms, all coming within the scope of the claim which follows.

What I claim is:

An element for a windshield swipe comprising a sheet of rectangular shape formed of two outside sections and a center section the center section being of greater thickness than theouter sections, said center section having corrugations on one side formed integral therewith and extending longitudinally of the sheet, the side of said center section opposite said corrugations being of concave formation throughout its length
