Description

SANITARY CLOSET SEAT COVER Filed Jan. 26, 1927 INVENTOR Naluzin h. km'sely ZZVZ/ A TTORNE Y5 Patented Dec; 8, 1931 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE MELVIN n. KNISELY, or ALBIoN, MICHIGAN, AssIeN oa or ONE-HALF T GLENN J.
- WALKER, or MARLETTE, MICHIGAN SANITARY cnosnr SEAT com Application filed January 26, 1927. Serial No. 163,691.
The objects of this invention are to provide I a convenient and complete cover for closet seats which will be automatically removed by.
- the flushing.
Second, to provide such a cover adapted to be made of crepe tissue paper.
Third, to provide such an improved cover that may be medicated.
Objects pertaining to details will appear from the description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out in the claims. A structure which is a preferred embodiment is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective View of a toilet seat with my improved sanitary cover in place.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of my improved cover removed from the seat.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of a toilet seat with my improved cover in place.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line 4.4 of Fig. 3, showing a'sectional elevation view of the cover.
to'- Fig. 5 with the flap extended by opening its fold.
Fig.8 is a sectional View taken on line 88 of Fig. 7.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view taken on line 99 of Fig. 7.
Figs. 10 and 11 show a step of the folding from Fig. 5.
Figs. 12 and 13 show the complete longitudinal fold.
Fig. 14 is a perspective view of my improved cover as finally folded with thecorner turned up to facilitate use.
The parts will be identified by their numerals of reference which are the same in all theviews.
1 is the closet bowl and 2 is the seat shown in conventional form. 3 is my improved sanitary cover which comprises a rectangle preferably of crepe tissue paper which is folded upon itself forming treble thickness at 4.
While thus folded, as seen in Fig. 5, I make an incisionto form a flap 5, which when unfolded (see Fig. 7) projects somewhat like a large shoe tongue. In forming this I cut completely across the fold 4. I then glue the fold 4 at 6 on each side with little dabs of suitable adhesive. It will thus be seen that thetongue 5 may be extended as indicated in Fig. 7. The
Jpart toward the front and at each side will be treble thickness. I fold the blank as it appears in Fig. 5, on itself, as seen in Figs.
10 and 11. and give the same a further fold as seen in Figs. 12 and 13, and then fold crosswise, turning up a corner, as seen in perspective in Fig. 14. It will be seen from this 6 description that by grasping the upturned corner the seat cover will spread out automatically to cover the seat. The flap 5 will drop down into the water in the bowl, thereby completely covering the front part of the seat.
I preferably medicate the paper of this cover, and as it is made of crepe paper itis very absorbent and the slightest moisture causes it to remain inplace and the paper being treated with antiseptic aflords' complete protection. The antiseptic may be carbolic acid, formaldehyde, listerine or any other effective antise tic.
IVhen the closet is ushed the suction of the the center thereof and across the treble thick- "t A 1,sss,7s7 I In witness hand.
whereof I have hereunto set my MELVIN H. KNISELY.
